Time for a big update..
Firstly I have picked up a paint brush for the first time in a couple of years,
I have never been fond of painting so I though I would give contrast paints a go
and I seem to be getting on with them better than my previous experience with
the regular paint range. I wont be winning any painting competitions any time
soon, but its nice to see some colour amongst the sea of grey plastic.
Here are a couple of the works in progress.
Now back to the conversions..
Since the last post
GW went and updated the Ghazghkull Thraka model and
datasheet. which obviously meant that I had to follow suit as my current gaz no
longer cut the mustard. (below)
This finally gave me a conversion opportunity for the Thanquol and Boneripper
model. With some work done to the torso to repose the four arms slightly and
a verminlord head swap. Combining all the separate guns into one large
amalgamation and giving a pair of clawed fists. Paint job
wip
And as a comparison of old vs new
Having used Boneripper I had to find something for Thanquol to do.
In a stroke of lucky ebaying I was able to pickup "The Caller" necromunda
model, that was incomplete missing the rider and tail, It was in a £20 bits box
bundle, barely visible in the photos and not listed in the description, bargin!
Together they play in my army as proxy for Zhadsnark da Ripper
the forgeworld named character on warbike 'Da Beast'
Now that I have replaced Ghaz the old model moves to being a warboss
which meant I needed to make another warboss of similar size.
This ended up being complete amalgam of parts, verminlord head and arms,
Rat orge arms as legs, the alternative chest of the demon prince and between
30-50 giant rats and rats swarming over his back.
the next challenge was to make a deffdread proxy. needing to be
- larger than the stormfiend which run as killa kan
- similar size to the new Ghaz
- smaller than the verminlord which run as Morkanaut
From the skaven range that left the Hell-Pit Abomination.
After some staring I realised that there was opportunity within that
one kit to make not only a deffdread (front half) but also a
Megatrakk Scrapjets (rear Half).
Dreads - Using the front half of the hell-pit as the torso, each dread
has a different arrangement of arms and legs from a variety of kits.
Most having
de-horned verminlord heads, with one retaining the
hellpit head. the two primed models are yet to have their tails added
so you get an idea of the amount of milliput used to fill the holes from
the splititng. D also needs a foot.

And a comparison against a Stormfiend / Killa kan
And others
Scraprats aka Megatrakk Scrapjets - Using the rear half of the hell-pit and
the head/heads from the hell-pit, some stormfiend armour as a saddle
and eventually a greyseer as rider.
I have Started on my third Morka/Gorkanaut Verminlord
Group shot
A Deffkilla Wartrike
Deff-Koptas
My Verminknight is getting a couple of friends in the shape of a couple of
armigers, This is in an early stage, the legs are a borrowed set and will be
replaced with converted and reposed legs. The unused boneripper heads
are used on the reversed torso, with the carapace reworked.
Last but not least, I have mentioned that I have made
RC tanks before
well I decided that the skaven deserved something in their arsenal.
So again falling back on the start collecting box for the warp lightning
cannon and the plague furnace kits, plus some
RC gubbinz and we have
An articulated mobile artillery tank.
Im going to capture some video of it trundling around on a table soon
As usual there will be more to come,
as necrons have entered the fray...
