The Elusive Yakface. Do you know what it is? And I mean, without googling it. Do you know what the Elusive Yakface is? Yes, Malfred, iOrek, Gonads, you all know what this means. But the rest of you Plebians, do you know what this sci-fi character is, and why he has this particular moniker?

Yakface?
It's a Star Wars alien character from ROTJ. One of the ne'er-do-wells that hang with Jabba.
Because it's head was kinda yak-like?
They did this with a lot of the star wars aliens. Basic descriptor that over time (and an EU or two) actually named the races.
Humanoid, head sort of like a walrus. Walrus-man (later Ponda Baba, species Aqualish).
One tooth poking out of its snout like a partial muttley underbite - Snaggletooth (later Zutton, species:"Snivvian")
Humanoid, with a head like a squid. Squid-head (later Tessek, species: Quarren).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

This kind of blows my mind because I can’t remember a time in my life before I knew what Yakface (and far too many other Star Wars background aliens/ships/devices) was.

I remember Yakface from when I was a wee lad in the mid 90's learning about the myriad of Star Wars memorabilia, even back then, when midi music prevailed and fandoms were done through AOL chatrooms, this thing was almost a meme.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

I remember in the mid 90s (being an 80s child) I used to go down to the indoor market, and sell my Ewok figurines to the man with the Starwars stall. He used to give us £8-15 per figurine, and we would go and turn our fair-gotten gains into weed (this was wayback when weed was illegal and I used to value it - not so nowadays. I'd always counsel the youth to avoid this insidious narcotic, whether legal or not). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is we used to go down to the market (Car boot sale, in UK vernacular), sell our SW stuff, buy weed and then get stoned.

And why Elusive?
One of the very, very last figures released for the original Kenner toy line.
Given falling sales and therefore lower production rates, that’d make it comparatively rare.
Add in it never saw a US release? Even more so.
A complete, carded example goes for silly money.

Ok I didn't actually know that. I just knew that Yakface was comparatively rare (aka Elusive). So how much does he sell for these days? £100?
