Also lex's eye has been mutated downward due to too much exposure to kryptonite. It is radioactive after all .

Lol yeah though the cape might not fit he's had a transplant now, he can afford it

Cheers, and welcome!
Finally getting there with the Quick Response Team:

For grunts, they have taken me ridiculously long :/ not sure I've quite sorted the new lighting setup but still.

So after layer after layer, here he is, humanity's only hope: Lex Luthor!

Pretty pleased tbh. Done the osl with washes rather than drybrushing for a change. I think I like it.

Hopefully, a quiet day tomorrow so I can build some stuff. I'm going to wreck the other booth if possible.
Cheers

Great work on Lex and the QRT. Lex could be a proper pimp if only he had a cane . A Kane with a Kryptonite studded tip or handled.

Cheers matey yeah the QRT are brutal. Tiny sniper girl is a beast. Wash based osl seems to have worked, aye

Yeah, that would indeed be pimpin. I'll consider it for my street wars gang

Next up is Lex's troopers, as I'm quite taken with running him. Colour/progress test:

from R-L: single layer of waywatcher, single layer + test of VJ violet (thinned), 2 layers of waywatcher. I think I'm just going to do the green with washes etc, seems to be working? Thoughts?

Thanks once again fro all the support gang. I've unlocked voting on them, if your so minded

Believe it or not that's the right answer I'm thinking that green on right with purple in middle.
Meant to ask, what about middle guy's power blade, electric blue. More generally, eyes will be yellow, btw.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Next layer on. Also yellow blocked in also and blue added to power weapon. I've added greenshade to the rib area, joints etc. Wondering whether to go with that as the general green and darken these further. Hmm. Thoughts?

Did the purple last night.

Wondering about either the head or chest plate in purple?

And maybe do something with the spine?

In other news, picked up the Harley crew goons (don't care about the Harley, I have various and am not that fussy nor do I play competitively) and Rick Flag from a mate for some terrain that I'll never get round to building. So I'm actually almost at the point of having ALL THE TOYS - well nearly I have almost nothing left on my back catalogue wishlist apart from Talia now. Good times!

Again great work! you can achieve amazing results with predominately washes, some of the secrets are to get your main overall level of colour on then wash the recesses and around details with a darker wash and use actual paint to add a highlight in areas and you'll be amazed! :-) these guys do look pretty damn solid as they are!

Nice work, Nice scheme.

The chest may be too much purple, I'm seeing them as green with purple bits. With the chest in purple they will be green AND purple. A subtle difference.
I'd start with just the face in purple and see how it goes?
Or if you do want them more green and purple then the chest would do that.

Oh yeah, and good job on Lex.

Means a lot man, thanks. I think I got the balance so cheers.
And so...

Just purple at the chest's lower section. I'm quite happy with that, I think. So, once I ramp the yellow eyes and lights, I think that's them. POSSibly modify the spine slightly, a bit of glow?

Too much to catch up on in just one sitting, will need to take my time to really appreciate it all!

Lex above looks ace, and green with purple troopers are coming along great too.

And yes to the glow, specially after seeing the OSL on Lex, will team up nicely!

Haven't been here in a bit myself. Lex is looking spot on, the osl glow is perfect, and he has a bit of the Godfather look to him. Legionaires look good too, can we get a group shot of them all together?

Tis the nature of dakka Many thanks, and, of course!

And they themselves:

Okay so maybe I haven't quite got my lighting rig sorted, but much better. New phone's camera is pretty decent also. Frighteningly, these are voteable on in the gallery...

And finally got on with some scatter terrain:

Multiverse kit, decided to wreck one booth because, srsly? Booths do not stay undamaged. Also I hope will look good for Street Wars NYC, so I might throw some 70s style tags on there. Once they're built I'll add "glass" to both the undamaged and the wrecked one.

I feel like I should do something for the LOER contest at the moment, but it's just not grabbing me and if I'm being honest I'm enjoying working on developing my painting style. I've got Martian Manhunter, Dr Fate, Wonder Woman and the Batpod to do (I have actually started on the blending of the black cape for that, but no pics yet) and I think that I may just have to shirk my LOER duties this time. Oh, the guilt

Of course knowing me I'll actually just do something random, like make a Talia al ghul from bits

Cheers

Cheers Buddy I know what you mean, I still have a heavy trooper to do (waiting for replacement guns, as his were missing) and might, as I say, make a LexCorp Talia as I'm not totally sold on the model and reckon I could easily make one.

Thanks that would require me to still have marine bits though literally got one guy left, and even he is missing an arm

I think unfortunately you'll struggle to get a replacement, KM don't have any left at all AFAIK. Be great for a fanboy civilian!
The irony is that in the new edition LexCorp are getting merged with crime, two face and black mask, none of which I play, so their appeal is a bit limited - however they're fantastic in DCUMG for filling odd points gaps so that's where they'll likely be used.

youwashock wrote:Lex and his flunkies look ready to kill the alien. Nicely done.

Yup. I plan on hunting Kryptonians with them. Zod et al are in for a shock

Gitsplitta wrote:Go for the gusto graven!

If you say so chief !

Yeah, so, I built stuff:

Pose is modelled on the comic Talia for BMG. She is a little shorter and stockier - 28mm rather than 32mm - and isn't quite right as a true substitute for the real thing (who's a sidekick for Lex) but fine if I ever want a proxy. But the point of the exercise was to practice GS hair - the original head had a bob, so wanted to try and make it longer and flow. She'll be useful as a generic spy type or survivor also.

Speaking of survivors:

May the odds ever be in her favour!
Not sure whether to GS her a pony tail. Just fancied doing an archer survivor and this happened.

Built another multiverse thing, a supercomputer:

Very nice build, quick and easy. Time and again, Multiverse have the best MDF instructions out there.
I reckon my leather clad super spy chick (not-Talia) would go well with it, maybe I should start playing 7TV

And accessorised the phone booth:

A pair of heels, a police baton, a sack (which may have a head on it, haven't decided yet) and some wire for the phone.
As well as graffiti and posters, I'm considering trying something totally new on this. I've been pondering for a while how to get convincing peeling, flaking rust. Crackle media etc never seem to really do it for me, but I wonder about layering paper painted in layers and torn away. Could be time consuming, but interesting. Thoughts?

Eyes on the prize - only 4 DC miniatures to paint! Well, apart from the 3 unbuilt thugs and Rick Flag

Later mes amis,

Nice work. Hair looks the part.

Good additions to the phone-booth.

layered paper = peeling paint/rust sounds interesting. Worth a try, you may come up with a perfect solution.
I'd say use the thinnest paper you can find; layers of paint on this scale are thin...
