Hello once again from the Slave Dungeon,

Today we have some exciting news for Sci-fi lovers. Slave 2 Gaming will be releasing Maschinen Krieger (MA.K) in 15mm!

For the past 18 months Mike Broadbent and I have been in discussions with Kow Yokoyama (the creator of MA.K) and Scott Hards of HobbyLink Japan fame, with the plan to create the well know Sci-fi model kit range into a 15mm size.

Release date is planned for some time in early 2021, barring some other crazy worldwide event happening! Discussions are still underway to have a rules system to support the miniature range. Something similar to the old board game, but as of yet there are no plans.

This is excellent news.

I have always loved the Ma.K design aesthetic, but getting ones hands on kits can be... challenging to say the least.

Having a steady supply of miniatures worth a game attached is a bonus.

I'm glad to hear it as I was just asking about Ma.K minis a month or two ago here on dakka. Why 15mm though? I'm not sure the scale can do the iconic power armored suits justice and the game with the occasional larger vehicle seems a perfect fit for a 28mm skirmish game instead. A 9ft power armor at 15mm would only be about 22mm tall or about the size of a 40k ratling/gretchin. My guess is probably the license might not conflict with another at 15mm whereas 28mm might overlap with some of the model kits.

I followed SF3D back in the 80s when it was a Hobby Japan and Nitto only things. I managed to get the two boardgames and a small host of kits...but the scale was too much for my hobby room and most (not the Krachenvogel) have found new homes.

But a 15mm range of figures and kits? Sign me up!

The vehicles will be nice in a smaller scale. Might allow some folks who don't have the room for 1/20 scale to get some in their collections. I have a half finished falke with crew in my paint pile. Its a beast! Probably take a whole shelf in my detolf on its own.

1/100 is probably about the most popular scale for non-40k scifi, since you can do real combined arms. Since MaK has "tanks" and such in addition to the power armor (which itself is very large) it certainly makes sense to go with this scale.
