I’ve done a bit of searching online and haven’t found anything decent yet. Working up to a Woodland gaming board. Do you guys know the best place for this?

What species of tree are you looking for? Different nurseries will sometimes specialize in different species.

Just so we’re on same page this is for wargaming not actual trees.

Not sure. Oak, pine? It’s meant to be a generic 40k forest world as opposed to arctic or alpine.

Some wire coiled up, smear some putty on it then stick on some clump foliage. It's relatively quick. Fairly cheap and it's always fun to pick up a new skill.

Failing that. Maybe see if any trees in your area create suitable twigs or branches. Give them a little bit of a bake in the oven to kill anything and dehydrate them then base, paint and apply clump foliage again. Or paint them to look burned out and dead.

Go to a hobby shop and look for the diorama/model railroad section.

Nature has a nice tendency to provide the best looking non-pine tree trunks/branches.
Just walk outside, gather a handful of twigs about 6" long, strip off the bark (optional), attach to bases & apply flock/lichen etc.

For pine trees? We've used alot of Woodland Scenics. Some Battlefront/Gale Force 9. Some Pegasus. Some scratch built (more effort than it's worth imo)
But if you want to go just as good but cheap? Tis the season.... Look in the Christmas decoration section of your craft stores/Walmarts/etc. They sell packs of 3-5 pine trees for making those Christmas village set ups. Some snow covered, some not. Wait for them to hit clearance, buy all you can get.
Oh, and the same companies also make bare trunks (in both brown & white) for dead/leafless deciduous trees. They go on clearance as well - but have the added bonus of doing so TWICE! Once here for Halloween, again at Christmas. The only difference? The packaging.
Add flock & lichen as desired.

Actually that's a great point. And you can also combine the decorations with Halloween stuff. Add a bit of flare with tiny pumpkins, skeletons, fake spiderwebs. Depending on what gaming system you're making the board for you can get a bit outlandish with things. Fantasy? Giant spiders and skeletons. 40K? Well still giant spiders and skeletons.

You know, I have a friend who, many years ago, made a wood-elf army entirely out of twigs.

Model railroad kits come in varying sizes and O-scale is close to 40K, so you might look into O-scale foliage if you want a premade solution.

There are tons of tutorials around for how to make stuff like trees. Here's a fairly basic one.
Basically just grab a bunch of twigs, glue them together into whatever shape you want your tree to be, drape some stretched out cotton over the top to hold the leafy bits, then glue on flock/leaves.

Won’t the twig start to decompose?

If you are fine with pines, IKEA currently sells sets of three small christmas trees for about 3€ named "VINTER". Last year I got a small pine forest for our terrain collection as seen here:

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

if you are looking for devastated trees, get yourself some grapes, and save the vines. the bits that they were attached to can be a decent base for shrubs and trees.

For jungle trees cheap shops have the plastic foliage balls which easily produce lots of cheap plants. Also aquarium/reptarium plants as well.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. It all depends how much work you're willing to do and how good you want them to look. 3d printing tree armatures is great if you have a 3d printer and the knowledge of how to use it. Personally I'd buy packs of tree armatures from Woodland scenic or the like plus several bags of foliage which you can use to make various different types of trees. It's not that difficult and they look surprisingly effective.

I know a guy named Bunyan, he can hook you up!

In all seriousness you can get them all over the place, train stores, hobby stores, craft stores tend to have them for Xmas dioramas. You can also check out the dollhouse section of a craft store for more options.

This. I have a job at one of them. The Lemax gets really cheap around the 25th.
