I was about to write in what are you playing right now and realized this could be good as its own thread. Recently me and my partner have been playing some games together. We just finished our first ever successful run of death road to Canada. You need a controller and a keyboard for 2 to play it. It's a very silly zombie retro styled beat 'em up. Drive to canada, manage resources and kill zombies. At first she thought flashing lights and such was a bit of a bother (she's sensitive to such things) but it turned out to only be in the menu. She's been telling me she wants to play it more so it's clearly a hit. Just some braindead zombie bashing fun (excuse the pun). It's cheap and available on Steam.

Edit: Slightly changed the title

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

I gave this answer in your last, similar thread

Now I also remember that we played Portal 2 together and that game was another perfect co-op experience!

Anyway, me and my ex-gf, now-wife have played a lot of games on PS3 and 4 together, so I have plenty of advice!

When it comes to actual co-op there's this absolute revelation of a game, which is Divinity. We played Divinity 2 split-screen and (having been both tabletop and video game player for almost 40 years) I found it an amazingly refreshing experience. I really didn't expect that a complex RPG with choices, dialogues and turn-based combat can work as a split-screen co-op and yet it does and is absolutely amazing!!! Playing together feels like a real RPG session when we can do things as a team or go our separate ways and explore the world.

If I was to recommend just a single game for couples' co-op it would be Divinity 2.

In addition I recommend those two-player titles, all of them finished, all of them enjoyed by both of us:
A Way Out
Sky Force
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris/Guardian of Light
Towerfall Ascension
Shovel Knight
Overcooked 1-2

Also we very often play single player games together, and I think cinematic games with gripping narrative are best for that, as they are great for watching, not just playing. We loved

Uncharted 2-3-4 (1 as well but it's visibly weaker)
The Last of Us 1-2 (are in the process of playing Part 2, 17 hours into the game and loving it!)
God of War (actually started on PS3 with 1 and 2, played all of them and enjoyed all of them. I'd say 2 is our favourite)
Horizon Zero Dawn - not a great fan, but have to admit, a solid game and my wife loved it
New Tomb Raider games, wife has been a fan since childhood and 1st part.
Until Dawn was also a fun experience to share.

And then there's Witcher 3, which I played 5 years ago alone and now we are close to finishing the GOTY edition (finished the main plot and first DLC, stopped to play TLOU2, will go back after that) We spent ~150 hours with the game so far and never got bored. Note, though, that we have the literary background of the story, having read the books (me ~25 years ago as a teen ) which helps.

And the final option that is always there and will never go out of fashion - hot-sitting Heroes of Might nad Magic 3

What machine are you playing on Narek?

Recently really enjoyed Unravel Two - really beautifully designed game, neat puzzles that you have to work together through, and really had a laugh with it (usually when one of us died..)
Resident Evil 5 co-op was fun. Although my partner doesn't always have a good ability with the game. I'd be busy getting ravaged by undead dogs and she would be the far side of the map searching a crate for herbs..

One-player wise, as Cyel has written above, some of the strong story games are good to play together
Enjoyed Detroit: Become Human.
Hoping to get Until Dawn, which looks like a lot of fun.

Do you mean Yes, Your Grace Ahtman?

Do you mind me asking how does that work with multiplayer? Had a quick look and it looks like some kind of Sims meets resource management single player game.

Haha, it's Nerak. Though I know there's a Narek on this forum too. I should have words with him.

I'm playing on a PC, don't have any of the latest gen consoles. My most recent one is my Nintendo wii, think it's like 10 years old now? Got some older consoles as well. We both have PC so we co-op alot. After the other thread we got into stardew valley, thanks to everyone who came with suggestions in that thread.

Was more thinking this as a thread where you could post whatever you happened to be playing togheter with a partner or kids rather then specifically advice. Though of course advice is welcome.

Ah, yes, that is the correct name. It is a story driven game that is more about choices with a little bit of resource management. We talk about the different choices that come up and how we are going to respond to them. There are no right answers often and you have to deal with the consequences of who you want to help, who you can help, and who is best left alone.

Doh! Sorry man

Narek may be a character from a sci-fi or fantasy or something, can't think from where though

Great idea for a thread though! Have got a few recommendations from here that I have written down and put on a wish list

I googled the name. Apparently there’s a Star Trek character by the name of Narek. A Romulan spy who seems to have a bit of a fan base. There was also a Saint named Gregory of Narek. Narek refers to his monastery. Might be more Nareks out there.

My girlfriend and I fired up another don’t starve togheter game. It was really fun. We’ve learned to compliment each other quite well. She usually focus on food and exploration. She really likes to build farms and find stuff. I usually focus on building the base. Oh and a funny story, I recommended the game to a friend some time ago. He and his girlfriend recently got it and they’d been doing almost nothing else but playing it in their spare time for over a week. I found that to be really funny.

Ah I've had Don't Starve on the list for a while. Are you able to play as local/couch co-op I take it?

Just started playing Way Out on the PS (it's on offer 65% off on the PS Store at the moment) - really good fun, a 'true' co-op game in that I don't think you can play it one player.

Not one for young kids though - it's very much an 'adult' game, starts off with two guys in jail, being pushed into an unlikely comradeship, and all of the hardships you go through being in jail (well not all, but lots of fighting and cruelty etc)

Nah, no couch co-op to my knowledge. Local works fine.

Me and my girlfriend has been playing heaven's vault together lately. You play as an archeologist in a scfi-fi fantasy airship setting following the trail of a mysterious disappearance as well as deciphering an ancient forgotten language. The language part is what got me interested. My girlfriend happens to be an language enthusiast (she speaks something like 6 languages more or less fluently and has a blog about language learning). The language is very well thought out, figuring out what makes something an action or why symbols mean what. The language has you learn certain basic meanings of symbols and then guess bigger meanings as it's inserted in different contexts as well as changed to actions or abstract concepts. It's a little like a simplified version of Japanese, a language we're both fluent in. So anyway, big hit with us though we don't care much for the mystery part of the story. It really helps being two people to bounce ideas. We previously played through the return of the Obra Din togheter and this reminds me a little of that. I recommend this game (Heavens vault) if you're into slow storytelling and puzzles.
