To keep things in line with the threads about your three most favorite factions, let's hear it for your three most favorite heroes be it fo their rules, their fluff and/or their model. It doesn't necessarily need to be from a faction you actually play. I believe it's fairplay to throw flowers at the opposition once in while (then a hail of arrows). Here are mine in a non-specific order.

The Darkoath Warqueen: This one I actually use once in while in very small games with my Slave of Darkness or as an allied detachment for my beastmen. I think the model is very good looking and her rules are surprisingly friendly. She makes for a surprisingly good hero/monster hunter for a such cheap hero. She can punch above her weight class when used right and who doesn't like easier charges as a command ability in a glass hammer army.

Spoiler:

The Akhelian King: The model itself to me is a massive argument as he is probably tied with the Archrevenent as my favorite model in Age of Sigmar. The fact it's also an exceptional fighter, from my massive one game experience against such hero, is just a cherry on top. Plus, it's not even monster size though it still punches like one. Apparently, his command ability is a bit tricky to use, but very powerful.

Spoiler:

The Abhorrant Archregent: Being the grand delusional king that they are, their fluff is great. Who doesn't like a king so mad eveyybody else aound them get the same crazies? It's also a rare new model for the Flesh Eater Court model range and very good looking. It's one of the rare use of "tactical rock" that I enjoy since it's making great use of it. Finally I do love the fact that the Archregent is so flexible. It's a good caster with an awesome command ability, it can hold its own in close combat against minor heroes and is ridiculously hard to kill thanks to his health regeneration. I can do a lot of things with him provided I guard him well.

1. Knight-Venator. Love everything about this model, its pose, the birdy sidekick. The art where Torglug was reborn as Tornus the Redeemed remains one of my favorite pieces of AoS art and probably why I love this mini so much.

2. Khorgus Kul/Mighty Lord of Khorne. Just a brutal looking miniature, to me it captures exactly what a leader of a Khorne army would look like.

3. Gaunt Summoner. A great looking Tzeentch mini(both of them). Its weird looking, evil looking and just has a vibe that it could obliterate you with a wave of the hand.

1) Gotrek. Because he's a powerhouse of grumpy classic dwarf in an insane setting. I also like that in AoS there is potential for him to come out of his shell somewhat, since in Old World he was more of a mystery that was constantly wrapped up with Felix doing most of the interactions; now in AoS Gotrek has to step forward more so and the mystery is the world around him not just himself.
I also find that the nature of his use and character is that his stories often give a good view of the regular life and struggles of different races and peoples of the world - read the old stories for Old World and you go on a tour of many of the races and factions and places of the Old World; I really hope we see the same for AoS and, given time, we get to see the regular life of many and see him become more of his own character.
Spoiler:

2) Morathi - well she's the leader of one of my armies and a super cool model. But that aside of all the current gods she's one of the ones able to really push for change in the setting. She's not passive, meanwhile she's also not "weekend cartoon villain" levels of evil (like Nagash) and set on world domination. She's playing the classic powergame; she's after whatever she can get and because of that she makes steps that have actual impacts at a local level not just "oh I'll crack all the magic in the realms" style impacts.
Spoiler:

3) Keeper of Secrets - even though I don't yet own one I think its a beauty of a model. A very worthy update to the old sculpt and a fantastic powerhouse to put on the table.
I'd also add the Exalted forgeworld variation too!

I got to admit this is indeed an incredibly cool Tzeentch model and I'm usually not a fan of their aesthetic.

1. Megaboss on Mawkrusha. I mentioned this briefly in the other thread but I absolutely love the brutal angry aesthetic that the model has as the "angry cabbage". Rules-wise, it's an absolute terror that my opponents always are wary of since it can potentially double move in a turn and then charge, giving it massive threat range. Give it the Big 'Un mount trait and the Warchanter buff and its thicc fists do a meaty 4 damage a pop for the Krusha and 3 for the Boss on top, usually spelling a unit deletion for most units.

2. Loonboss on Mangler Squigs. A fantastic rendition of an older model and there's so much flavour on the faces of the squigs as well as the hapless Loonboss on top of it. Rules-wise, they are also one of the few weird models where you actually want to keep them at their middle bracket to lower out their damage output, which is easier said than done. Crazy greenskin mayhem done right!

3. Tie between Arkhan the Black and Nagash, both have the Bone-daddy Lich look and have such a distinct and cool background and their rules also cement them as one of the top dogs of being lords of magic in the game, barring guys like Teclis.

Chaos Lord on Karkadrak
Spoiler:

One, it is an awesome model that probably should have the Monster keyword but fortunately doesn't. I am told it doesn't have the best rules for it points and even went from 250 to 230pts. But mine as been clutch in securing me every win with my S2D army. Dude never survives a game but also assassinated at least one enemy hero every game. The dude also chewed up a lot more of a Horror hoard single-handedly than he had any right to. There was a moment my opponent and I thought he just might have pulled it off, but Horrors having their Ranged and melee attacks was too much in the end. The spoiler is him giving what for to some Overlords thinking they could defend an objective from him.

Stone Mage
Of the four elements, I am the biggest fan of earth. I always wanted an earth elementalist type wizard model with some sophistication. The Stone Mage does that. I don't know how well she'll fight, but I look forward to finding out when gaming becomes a thing I can do again.

Chaos Lord on Foot
Spoiler:

I like the model. With mine, I changed out the head for one of the helms of the Chaos Chariot warrior to keep him fully armored and looking important. So far, my opponent's have underestimated him as he feels way too easy to kill but his Command Ability to have a Chaos Mortal Unit attack again is so powerful if he can keep up with the right target. The spoiler has the only easy to fine photo. The lord isn't finished being painted and the photo quality is a little low since I cropped it out of a 2500pt army photo.

My picks are purely for aesthetic reasons, as I’ve no real knowledge of what’s good in a given army. Also in no particular order.

1. Free guild General.

He’s just a man, with a man’s courage. Nothing but a man, who can never fail. There’s just something inspiring about “just a human” type characters that will always appeal to me.

2. Ogre Firebelly.

He’s gonna hit ya, he’s gonna burn ya, then he’s gonna magic ya. He’s a little bit of what you fancy, and some spare stuff. Model is also gorgeous (my one, from when it was first released is also the best Finecast model I’ve ever owned. A completely flawless cast)

3. It’s a cheat, because it’s the Gobbapalooza. 5 Gobbos, all completely off their box on (literal) Magic Mushrooms. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such incredibly characterful models. Best bit for me (as with all Gloomspite models), they’re just spangly enough to standout in the army, without looking out of place. Game wise, seems if they’re used with suitable cunning, they can make a Gobbo unit shockingly deadly!

1. Great Unclean One. Always been the best Greater Daemon, the new model is amazing.
2. Saurus Oldblood on Carnasaur. A bad ass lizardman riding a terrifying dinosaur. The model is awesome, the concept is awesome.
3. Arch Revenant. I love the Wood and Insect imagery mixed in this miniature, and you see some absolutely mindblowng paintjobs on it out there.

Humming Great Unclean One of Nurgle

Like the army thread I have to omit Nurgle here because otherwise my top seven choices, let alone top three, would all be Nurgle ones.

Arch-Warlock: He's just so good. He excels at melee, he excels at casting, and he is durable as all hell. And I do like really durable heroes.

Daemon Prince: The concept is already badass, and they have a suitably badass warscroll now to boot. What I do miss is the customization aspect--DPs are supposed to be varied but right now there's not much in the way of that.

Mortisan Boneshaper: I like durable stuff, which extends to healy stuff. This character has a good save and does healing, so already right in my mechanical preferences. And the model is just fantastic--a spot where GW showing off what they can do really shines.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

1) Nagash- just love the scale and rules of that model and if we are to have a cartoon villain then let’s make it a megalomaniac giant Skeletor!

2)Light of Eltharion- I was a high elf player from 4th to the end times and the return of this character and his amazing model and what they did with the hollow armour thing is amazing!

3) Loon boss on Mangler Squig. It’s a crazy goblin in a cloak riding a giant red ball with teeth attached to another red ball with teeth there is no other need to explain this choice!

Honourable mention to the Mega gargants especially the warstomper

Third Favorite:
Spoiler:

Arch-Kavalos Zandtos, the Dark Lance of Ossia. The fluff, the model, everything about him was delightful. I own 10 of the accompanying cavalry just so he won't feel lonely.

Second Favorite:
Spoiler:

The Akhelian King/Volturnos kit. It's finnicky as all hell but damn does it present something that I felt was unique and different for an Elf model. There's a sense of viciousness to it and a sense of nobility about it.
The only part, IMO, that felt like a miss is something that can be corrected with the addition of a new mount option--that of the Akhelian Queens. Akhelian Kings/Queens? It's not an 'inherited' title like actual royalty. It's a title given to war leaders. There's more than one King/Queen per Enclave.

That said, a new mount option could be configured in such a way that the body could be transposed to the Deepmare. That's my dream.

First Favorite:
Spoiler:

This model kept me in AoS. I was legitimately ready to bail on the setting...and then the Idoneth surged up. It was a new and interesting take on things, while my Wood Elves were basically being crapped on nonstop(STILL no meaningful rules for the Wild Rider Shields! It's not even a legacy item--it's a part of the dang kit!), and the Idoneth with the Eidolon just...yeah. I'd say "took my breath away", but it would feel too punny.

I hope like hell that we see more interesting and unique takes with the Idoneth after the events of Morathi and I hope that the other armies currently languishing a bit see the same attention paid to them.

Patient waiting favorite kit:
Spoiler:

The Kurnothi here have given me a bit of hope to see something resurgent for the Wood Elves. Not holding my breath, but at least they seem to be a recognition of what's missing in the Wanderer and Sylvaneth range: that element of the 'fey' nature the Wood Elves had.
