I'm just looking for opinions/thoughts on this: If an soldier doesn't have it on his head, does it make sense to hang their helmet from the belt? Looks a little big for that maybe? What about hanging from the protrusion on their back?

I suppose one might say sergeants dont bring a helmet in the first place, but with all the new cool helmet-less heads in the new Cadian box, I'm trying to think how I want to model them.

Hooked on their belt seems the best place for this. When they sling it on their backs it doesn't seem as reachable when the need for them to wear it comes. Another believable option would be on the side of their backpacks, if yours wear any.

If you don't like helmets, just don't use them at all. There's more than a million guard regiments around, there's bound to be some that simply don't wear 'em.

The old Kasrkin sergeant had his helmet on his belt/hip.

In terms of reality, belt is a no go. Having a lid rattling around your hips or arse would be a nightmare. If it's not on your head it will be in your daysack/bergan. Personally I have a helmet carrier attachment for my daysack which allows easy access. Modelling wise, they Seem a little bulky to be trying to use as accessories but that's your call. I'd put them on their backpacks.

don't glue the helmet, use a small piece of tack glue line/dot strip and attach the helm where it looks good to you(I put mine mostly at the back, belt or off the backpack).

Carry it wherever you like...when not in combat.

When you have built and painted over 300 of the same Guard Regiment, you have to change it up or go insane.
