Subject: Question about the new Captain in Gravis model
They are making a new model for the unit originally only available in the Dark Imperium set which is nice but I noticed something when reading the article.
It says you can replace his power sword with either a chainsword or a powerfist, but the model is already equipped with with a boltstorm gauntlet which in melee has the exact same profile as a powerfist so taking a second one would be pointless.
I can only think of three reasons that this be done and work;
1. taking the fist is cheaper then the other options
2. taking the fist will grant extra attacks
3. they are changing the profile of the boltstorm gauntlet.
Thoughts?

Still no TH & flamestorm loadout...WTF, I had been restraining myself from cutting up my DI capt. Glad I did, now I can cut up a diff model and make a loadout worthy of Tu'shan(if he was ever to Rubicon it)!

I think they meant to say you can swap the power sword for a chainsword. The other pictures clearly show them in the same hand but no alternates for the fist hand.
I really like this model over the DI one so I think I'll have to pick it up

The pictures also show a power fist replacing the power sword/chain sword hand. The bolt storm gauntlet hand can’t be changed. (Attached picture from the WH40k Facebook page. The WHC pictures don’t show the power fist for some reason).
The chainsword is also nice for if you don’t want to pay the points for the sword you might never use as you slap people around with the boltstom gauntlet.
He might get a bespoke rule for having the fist, but as others have said, it’s there mostly for looks and to be swapped out for relics.
Hopefully this is a step back towards modeling and sane looking datasheets, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
This is the first Marine model in a while I actually like.
I usually bring a cheap backfield Captain anyway, stock with the relic Stalker Bolter, or MC Auto Bolter and Sword. I just might have to pick up thicc boy.

Another datasheet for the codex.

At least this time it's replacing an existing one.
It'd be even better if it replaced two.

Baby steps, friend. Positive developments need to be encouraged, no matter the past. Corporations are cumbersome like that, they need very clear, loud and specific feedback to change.

Well, it definitely is good that they're again making characters with some options. Double fist is a bit weird though. If it is for purpose of relics, it might have made more sense to just amend the relic text so that the fist relics can replace the melee profile of boltstorm gauntlets.

1. More likely that the fist is +5 over the current datasheet, and the chainsword is -5.
2. That would be nice - aggressors also have +1 attack over regular primaris so this could be a thing. The datasheet will need an errata anyway to allow for the new options so it is an ideal time to stick in an additional rule to make the option worthwhile beyond opening up certain relics.
3. I don't see any reason why they would bother with this for now. I think the only weird rules interactions from the boltstorm gauntlet are the already FAQ'd master crafted weapon (doesn't apply to all profiles) and that the melee profile is still a bolt weapon for crimson fists players.
And...
4. I'd like to see double fist being viable just so I can make an off brand version of Calgar for my Ultramarine successors.

What I don't get is why this model is worse than DI one. Thicker, uglier cloak with less decorations (and custom made to jam or drag on shoulder joint of his one arm that needs to be extra dexterous). Also, Boltstorm, last one was nicely integrated into the fist, this one looks like ork bolted shoota to klaw with crude rivet. Also, why the hell it has big round mag if it also has ammo belt? I liked how the DI one was sane and only had belt to make weapon smaller and more handy than the stuff Aggressor lug around...

Nah, this is way better model. The DI one is posed super awkwardly. And boltstorm gauntlet simply is stupid looking weapon.
Aggressors have an additional attack I think, I assume because they have 2 PF. I also haven't used mine since the new codex so maybe they nerfed them there. But in the previous codex I believe they had 3 base attacks

Gotta say, I missed that this guy has a double fist option. I think the +1 attack is the likely outcome of it. I have to admit, the term "double fisting" sounds terrifying on several levels.

What I assume a battle between two of them would look like:
