Hi guys,
In hammer and bolter, in the 9th episode,
"artifact", at the end
Spoiler:

We got to get a glimpse at Trazyn's collection. Of course, poor Ursarkar is there, as is a thunder warrior. Although I noticed a helmet, with a top knot, marked "XVI". So a helmet from the Sons of Horus.

Is there any reason for that ? I mean, I'm not totally up to date with the newcrons fluff.
Put a spoiler banner for the guys who wouldn't have seen it yet.
Thanks !

short answer is, Trazyn is a collector, hes basically got a sample of pretty much everything. he was active during and before the Hersey just picking up things. hes likely got a marine form each of the 20 legions. Hell, hes basically one of only 2 people who knows what happened to the lost legions (the other being Rowboat).

im told he has a shoulder pad form every chapter ever founded, for example.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Yeah I think it's just a case of, he has it.
Hell for all we know maybe it's lokans helmet? Who knows I think it's just a fun thing to add in there.

To many unpainted models to count.

Trazyn has a bit of everything, I wish GW would play on it a bit more.

We know he has a krork, a clone of fulgrim and living HH era marines in suspended animation but awake.

And a couple of squads of catachans

I bet he has a megarachnid

One thing I never heard of him collecting is chaotic beings, demons etc

Sixty million years worth of stuff, and basically everything interesting is Marines human-related.

Trazyn can be thought of as an in-universe Warhammer 40k collector (with maybe a little bit of a casual player mixed in - he released a small force of Heresy-era Ultramarines to slow Abaddon down on Cadia). From a narrative viewpoint, his version of the madness inflicting the upper strata of the Necron hierarchy takes the form of someone who is obsessed with history to the point of being rather possessive of it. Anything he deems of historical significance he wants for his archive to preserve for all time. He woke from stasis during the Horus Heresy and has been more or less collecting artifacts of interest to himself since then. He has several unique specimens in his collection as well as "dioramas" of stasis-held or transmuted entities depicting major events (though if I remember right somewhere it was noted that these are made for the "spectacle" rather than historical accuracy - basically he uses whatever he can find that is "close enough" so uniforms might be 10,000 years newer or certain vehicles may not belong to the era being depicted).

I think he would make a rather fun point-of-view character for a full series given he has an excuse (and means) to travel the galaxy and can technically be killed repeatedly if need be between his surrogate hosts and natural Necron durability.

They should release an audio book that is the audio guide for a visitor to trazyns museum. It would be funny I think but a good opportunity to both expose some more of the history of the 40K universe in the typical vague or misinformation way that GW like to provide its lore

I’d be up for that, like a Necron Xenology. Maybe sold with an art book?

Slight spoiler for the best Necron book ever.
Spoiler:
One of the things mentioned in The Infinite and the Divine was that Trazyn was collecting a helmet from each Legion which then evolved into Chapters which then became an impossible task that irritated him.

Mind you,

Spoiler:
The way the episode shows everything, including Creed, just standing around randomly with no rhyme or reason like the world's worst pile of shame, is supper sloppy. In truth, he has the cosmos' most carefully curated and catalogued collection.

He's not so careful with it that it doesn't get trashed basically every time it's featured in any fiction...

I mean, when was the last time you've seen a museum in any piece of fiction that doesn't get trashed. It's almost a narrative obligation.

I'd love this, especially if they included a couple Futurama style very obviously wrong "facts" ala the Past-O-Rama theme park or the 30th Century museum not knowing what a pizza oven spatula was for.
