I'm doing a catch up on season1 slowly right now before I jump into season 2.
I still think this is perhaps Orlando's best acting and the first time he's really felt like a lead character in a story. He always felt a little like he was missing some element in his acting in films like the PotC latter films and Kingdom of Heaven. Good acting but just not a "lead" actor/character.
Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote: As documented elsewhere, I struggled with S1 due to Carla Deleveignes “you’re not fooling anyone” Oirish accent.
And it’s no secret I’m sniffy about accents.
But I’m giving it another go, from the top. See what shakes out.
Technically not Irish as not from Ireland But yeah I can see how that might bother - I didn't really notice.

I caught up around the time S2 started and I really enjoyed S1. Lots of twists, turns, and a great atmosphere. 9/10 show IMO.
S2, so far, has become far more formulaic and dull. Maybe it'll pull out but I almost feel like this really would have been infinitely better as a 1 season show or a show with seasons that didn't lead into each other like this.
I wonder if its just an impressions thing because Season 2 is the "settling" season whilst 1 was establishing everything and thus it was all new and exciting and such. A bit like who the middle book in a trilogy can be a little slower than the first and the last.
Or if perhaps the pandemic made them shift a few ideas and concepts around so season 2 is less wild than they'd envisioned and it might just need a non-pandemic period for season 3 development (which I really hope it gets)
EDIT - sadness - apparently they added 2 more episodes to season 2 and are not renewing it for a 3rd season (apparently this was released around november last year)

I noticed this season was longer. I’m alright with that for a series finale though. Things are markedly bette for a good happy ending, but they didn’t magically solve racism.
