I picked up a Start Collecting box for FEC after being advised they were a good starter army… painted up everything but realized how limited and ancient the sculpts were far too late. Then, just as I was going to give up on them, rumors began about a new range..

Well, here we are, with that new range of models revealed and…. DAMN!

These sculpts are absolutely brilliant… they really dig into the theme and lore and they are flat out beautiful!

I am so excited to get hold of these… is anyone else feeling as satisfied and happy over this range refresh?

Yeah, they are pure awesomeness but one sad part = Crypt Ghouls stay the same ugly, old sculpts.

Agreed… however what they have revealed here will keep me happy for quite some time!

Do we have any idea at all when these will be available? Before Christmas?

No idea but I hope that the Crypt Guard will not be kept too long as the big box exclusive.

I'm seriously delighted by them. I love FEC and these new minis definitely refine their image to better represent who they think they are.
I'm seriously going to go broke over these.

Moved to AOS discussion as this isn't really N&R worthy, but still something worth discussing.

They do look amazing, Ushoran in particular is just 👌🏻

Ushoran looks just right. I also could see use for him as a BBEG for TTRPGs. Right away I think Dark Sun vampire wizard king.

I wonder what his rules will be? Ushoran is the source of the FEC delusions so I wonder if he would be able to convert some of your opponents models into FEC ghouls? That's just wishful thinking.

Absolutely beautiful update. They hit gold with the fluff and struck diamond with the refresh.

I don't see unit conversion, but i can definitely see some sort of aura ability that will debuff units that get too close.

Something that makes your opponent regret coming in close for attacks. Let's hope

Well I’m certain anyone getting too close to the Summer King will regret it badly, I mean, just look at the dude… he’s so refined and noble… a dashing prince…

Erm, anyway,

Can we have some love for the Varghulf Courtier! I mean that thing looks seriously badass. Lithe and predatory… quick too I bet!

I’m excited.

As others have said, GW struck gold with the background, and I think the appreciation was unexpected.

What started as a recycling of WHFB models whilst splitting Undead into different flavours, the background chimed with people.

And since then, folk have wanted the range, or at least part of the range, to visually reflect that very cool background.

They’re here now, and I couldn’t be happier.

They don't personally do it for me, but they needed the refresh. I do like that Ushoran looks straight out of Bloodborne/Dark Souls.

What I can't stand is the move to everything being a limited-release "army box" and then the real release some months later. It just keeps feeding into FOMO.

Agreed, it is the way they reflect the lore that I really appreciate, that ‘judge’ model is inspired…

I honestly feel my expectations have been surpassed on this range.

I just want a release date and to secure my copies…

There's no FOMO to those boxes. The only limited thing is an alternative book cover. The important thing about these boxes is the discount.

There's extremely little FOMO to these boxes, period, as they tend to linger with AoS.

Cities box went out of stock at GW once the preorders for Cities went live.

Nah, they sold out well before that in the UK. Third parties as well as GW main.

Ok, good for the UK?

They sold out at launch, then came back into stock here after the release in the US. They'd been rotting on the webstore since. My local GW still has one on the shelf as of Saturday, with nearest indie shop having six.

Love that! Poor Ushoran, he doesn’t understand why people don’t want his help… or just to hang out in his opulent home with his refined and gentle friends…

lol, you're the one who chose to throw out your anecdote at mine like yours somehow supercedes it?

Note my flag. It's a US flag. Yours is a UK flag. Different webstores on the GW side of things, and different indie retailers. I don't know why it is that the UK people are always shocked that their allotments sell out so quickly.
Miniature Market, alone, is still sitting on 20+ of the army sets for Cities. They might even still have Seraphon and Slaves to Darkness.

Unless FEC ends up breaking that trend, here in the US? The army sets seem to rot away on shelves. Can still get BT and Cadian boxes even. Strike Force Agastus was the only one I can think of that sold out.

AoS appears to not be doing as well in the US as it is in the UK. AoS bundle boxes and limited releases in the UK have been selling out slowly but consistently. Same products linger on US shelves for months or even years. Could also just be that GW is overallocating stock to the US as we're a much larger country and they have been trying to grow the market for their products here agressively.

Fun fact, the UK allotments of certain products *dont* sell out that quickly. The holiday battleforces were mostly still available across the board at various online retailers even after they had basically fully sold out in the US.

Well, before this I could pretty much just ignore the FECs as I didn't like most of the range. Since I won't buy/use models I dislike.....

What causes me to make a new army (or add an allied contingent) is if there's enough models in the range I like.
Previously? All I needed was a box of their endless spells, a ghoul to act as a caster, & the rules. That's a pretty low co$t.
Now it looks like there'll be enough models I like to make at least an allied group.

Only thing of fomo is discount and cover.

Guess no discount box at all better for wayniac then? All at full retail

And before somebody suggests gw should keep box in stock forever gw does 1 discount box per army that stays. It's called vanquard. Fec isn't snowflake that gets 2 where others get 1.

That’s right, FEC aren’t snowflakes, they’re based, which is why I like them…alongside eating meat and power tools.

Really looking forward to both but I've got to admit that the new FEC are outstanding and I'm going to really enjoy painting them
