For the 2023 list please see here:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/808550.page

Well a new year has dawned, or at least lurched uninvited into our lives. A year of promise, Leap Year, Summer Olympics, US elections... well no one said it would be a good promise.

And this Golden Age of miniatures continues. On the GW front Warhammer Fantasy Battle is back with many classic kits, even my bitter old heart is tempted to buy some. The Adeptus Arbites have a plastic set , Enforcers have FOUR and the Imperial Guard got a big range refresh, AND will soon get a Horus Heresy line.

Beyond that, Reaper and Wiz Kids continue to produce fine fantasy kits. The Oathmark/Frost/Star Grave line grows, producing quality modular kits. Stargrave even did some scavengers. I'd have liked some more cutting tools and scavenging stuff, but it's a good solid kit.

And beyond that there is the infinite world of 3D printing. Quite a few things on my 2023 list are already out as STLs.

But who would we be if we did not want... MORE!

So... let's have at it. What's your 2024 plastic model wish list?

More civilians - Maelstrom's Edge and Stargrave make good bodies that work for sci-fi civilians but we need more non-combat arms and poses. Carrying boxes, using tools, playing cards, you get the idea.

Panicked civilians - I've mentioned it before, I'll mention it again, people running, screaming, panicking, falling on their knees crying out to the heavens. Basically what we would all be doing if aliens/mutants/C'thulhu started heading down main street. Throw in some extra bits and you can have rioting civilians which might be more marketable.

Fleet Officers in Uniform - Basically guys in some sort of formal military uniform like the Imperial Fleet in Star Wars, the movie era Starfleet red uniforms or some of the more retro IG regiments. Well dressed men with high tech weapons and force field badges who don't need to lug gear around. "This is a Type IX TV Remote maximum power, wide angle beam, half the building will be disintegrated!"

Space Zombies/Mutants - This would make the most sense for Frostgrave/Stargrave. The scavenger sprue had some zombie parts but I want the whole deal, torsos with holes through them, half rotted heads, clawing hands. Throw in some mutant bits too for genetic experiments. The upcoming Damned from WGA have a bit of that, but MORE!

True aliens - Look I'm not a big fan of rubber forehead aliens. I get the idea, but they're never that interesting. True aliens, whether flying brain squids, or 4-armed insectoids or whatever, that would be cool.

What's on your list?

Plastic Auxilia are happening, that's already a massive win and for me personally, the newer Stargrave sets are scratching the generic crew / merc itch I've been having so far.

Would love to see more variety in Guard, which I'm sure Kill team will deliver on, hopefully some other exotic teams as well, like Exodites and Mechanicus explorators.

Mantic makes plastic Space Zombies and plastic Space Mutants.

I'll second the wish for civilians, of all periods.

Also someone get me some modular robots already.

I'm still hoping for a sprue of Woodland creatures.
Wolves, bears, boars, etc.
Part of or similar to Mantic's Dungeon Adventures line.

Plastic faun and centaurs would be nice.

I would also like modular robots.

RDG gaming have centaurs (if you're not already aware of them) and Fauns as well as Satyrs which may be the equivalent of fauns (depending on how you think each look)

So this was my last year's post:
Multipart Klingons of the TNG/DS9 era, with Bat'leths or Mek'leths + Disruptor pistol or Disruptor gun for every squad member. Also Knives, grenades, a sniper rifle (see ST VI), additional CC weapons, Captain, mix of males and females.

What we got was this:

I will vote for that just because I think your perseverance and devotion to the cause is worth support.

But I want alternate post-apoc crew options with AK 47s,

Plastic 28mm Thunderhawk Gunship. This is the year.

I’ve said that every year for 20 years running but this IS the year.

Also fairies - tiny little plastic fairies. My fantasy armies won’t be complete until I can run a couple of hordes of them.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

It going to sound like a broken record but Fire Raptor / Storm Eagle, Thunderbolt, Thunderhawk, Marauder, etc

Also I think with the new Malcador kit being released I would like a Infernus / Valdor kit to follow.

And I second the request for a Mastadon.

I really want plastic kits for the new Dropzone/Dropfleet faction.

For 28mm, I’d love some affordable not-Eldar or more organically-armored aliens that could work as not-Slayers, not-wraith, or not-Guyvers. I don’t need or want more not-IG.

54mm scale Inquisitor models as buy/order online after initial release as collectors/modelers/painters range.
I'm going through my old collection and adding in 3rd party models and absolutely loving it.
Plastics would allow for easier conversion and easier to do conversion sprue/add on.

Drones: One thing the ongoing Ukraine and Gaza/Iran wars have shown is that the age of drone warfare is no longer imminent, it is upon us. I'd love a sprue of small copter drones with a large winged UAV drone as well. Small drone for targeting or suicide attacks, then the big momma with missiles. Maybe throw in a ground drone with a gun. Maelstrom's Edge has some nice plastic drones but I see room for more in the miniatures world.

Survivors/Refugees: The Stargrave Scavengers are close, but this would be civilians in ragged clothing with either miss matched weapons or bags and packs and small children. Just the thing to dress up your battlefield with the horrors of war.

Working Civilians: Construction workers, miners, repair crews with shovels, power saws, welding torches etc. Medge Broken come close for Sci Fi.

Guards: The guys who suck. Caps, flashlights, pistols, clubs, reading newspapers, smoking cigarettes, looking at their phones, snoozing. They'll all die in wave one.
