Wife's friend in Canada sent a package of snacks and candy that are in Canada but not the US so I am trying to help her put together a package to send back with similar items that are in the US but not Canada. Obliviously we've packed up some Super Freedom™ but any other recommendations would be appreciated.

It might be interesting to go with a mixed selection of regional drinks perhaps.
For instance, there is a drink called Dr Enuf that is bottled in East TN that was the country boy drink of choice when i was growing up (it is often in glass bottles, so it doubled as storage for people who dip after they enjoyed the drink)
(the drink itself is kinda sorta like 7UP or Sprite, but it has vitamins and minerals)

What they said.
I’d look into not just “American” things, but hyper local specialties. Stuff that someone in your neck of the woods does real well.
IMHO gift giving is best when it says something about the giver or the recipient. This something has meaning to me, and I wanted to share. I saw this and thought about you and knew you’d love it.
If you are sending a “gift from home” pack, it should be about your home. Where you live. With the internet, people can probably order mainstream American things anywhere. But the corner ice cream place that sells jars of their fudge sauce, or jerky from the smokehouse up the hill? That’s local flavor you can't get from Amazon.

Have a local confectionery that I thought we would get a few items from but wanted a few bigger company items as well. Some of the things we received were Cadbury candy bars we don't have and a bag of Ruffles All Dresssed, neither of which are small, locally sourced products but are defintely things we don't have here.
It sounds awful but maybe a bag of Lay's Funyun flavored potato chips?
As for drinks, we will not be shipping liquids internationally. We have some good options on that front but it isn't something I want to worry about making it safely.

Makes sense
Out junk food is junk, and delightfully so. Some freakishly bizarre potato chips sound like a great idea.

As an Ex-Pat in my own way, and in no way relevant to this conversation….
Ask Them. I get it might ruin the surprise, but just ask them what it is they want.
My Ex-Patness is Scot living in England. I’d want chippy sauce, macaroons, Edinburgh rock and rhubarb rock. Those things that were an indelible part of my earliest years I can’t easily source.
And no, not the macaroons you’re thinking of. Infinitely better macaroons.

None of this is really meant to be a surprise and they have been asked and the answer was more or less "I dunno stuff we generally don't carry".
