Oh, capitalism produce useless crap so that people have something to waste their money on to have an illusion that hours of their life spent on work are worth anything.

I would buy it, just based on my aesthetic sensibilities, but I'm not sure where I would put it to get the best effect.

The thing about 40k is that no one person can grasp the fullness of it.

What's the alternative? Be forced to work anyway, buy nothing, amass wealth, and leave it all to the government when you pass out of this life? No thanks. I'd rather spend what I don't need need to save on useless tat so when someone comes collecting one day, all they find is a lot of plastic junk ready for land fill.

I'm tempted to buy a few of these to make wall sections for Epic 40k.

I wouldn't draw as much of a paralel between them, actually. Maybe not being objective here, but I think I can offer some arguments.

A hobby satisfies actual needs of people. If we look at Maslow's pyramid we have self-actualisation or esteem or achievement or belonging, itches that can absolutely be scratched by a hobby like wargaming.

A person with no hobby or interest will on his/her own start looking for a hobby or interest to satisfy these needs (assuming more basic ones are covered ofc). It's not the base of the pyramid, but it's there.

A person with no "collectable, goldish" slab is not going to feel the lack of the slab in his/her life and won't go searching for one him/herself. No, this kind of product needs to be shoved into potential customers' faces with the hope of awakening a fake need in at least some of them (with proper marketing tricks, like weaponized artificial scarcity) so that they part with some of their money.

Any particular reason for the lemon?

Also, I can't actually find anything on those ingot's pages that say what they are made of. Brass? Painted resin? Foil wrapped chocolate?

I could have sworn I saw zinc somewhere. Pretty sure it's not gold for $30.

I should mention I found this looking to see if anyone had done an Emperor on the Golden Throne type mini. Surprised no one has.

It would be BLASPHEMY to depict Our Divine Emperor in anything less than His peak physical form! Rumours that He is a desiccated skeleton melted into a seat are heresy of the highest order!

Why do that when I can get the same effect by drinking a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster? Probably cost me less, too.

Wouldn't most ingots be collectable? Basically anything is collectable if you can gain ownership of it.
