There are essentially six factions that can run all Mecha lists (no regular people allowed).

Custodes (the Dreadnought Detachment), Eldar (spiritstones are pilots), Imperial Knights, Chaos Knights, Grey Knights and Tau.

Who do you think that outside of Imperial/Chaos Knights that any other faction can successfully run an all Mecha list?*

*By successful, I mean play and win with at least 40% of the time... with no units that are not piloted (So Tau Broadsides are OK, Space Marine Terminators, not okay. )

If we're going to exclude Knights, than my guess would be T'au. There's mroe than enough variety in Battlesuits to fit the bill.

Robotic Suits with Pilots.

Wraithknights and Dreadnoughts work for this thread, even though the pilots can't get out and wander around.

Do legends count? If so then Marines are on that list.

Orks.

You got Killa Kans, Deff Dreads, Gorkanauts and Morkanauts.

Unsure if, having a crew rather than a pilot, Stompas don’t meet the definition?

Stompas count. Voltron had more than one pilot and was a mecha.

....

I guess a Farsight battlesuit army would be the stereotypical Mecha force...

Do you even need a character/special detachment/exception these days? Or just slap as many big stompy robot as you want into a list and go ape.

So the question is do you have enough platforms to make points with the rule of 3/battleline.

You need at least one Character.
And... That's it.

Bjorn still a character dread? Any others for a marine list? Used to be more, but not sure if they are even in ledgends these days.

Sergeant Chronus maybe? But he pilots tanks, not mechs.
Bjorn.
Murderfang cannot be a Warlord, so he's out.
Carab Cullen The Risen.

And that's it, as far as I can see.

One of our local Guard players has a Tank Commander that's literally a tank with arms and legs. So a few more of those and there's potential there.

Well you can take 6 wraith knights, 3 wraith lords and revenants or phantoms if you take legends.

Assuming you don't count wraith guard.

Can you win games with that list?

Sadly no, it was a few months back and I can't find a shot of it in the group discord.

No idea, not rich enough to try.

I thought they'd gone off legends like the wraith seer, but apparently still there.

Hopefully we see a new wraith seer, maybe a new wrsithlord kit with all the parts to make different types.

Yes.
Assuming you've got the pts & $? It's not any different than winning with an Imperial/Chaos Knights list.

Imperial factions are all mech lists, they portray a more western-style mech. Slower and more ponderous but able to take a beating.

Tau and Eldar are mecha, fast and nimble, looking for an opening to destroy their opponent before they take any fire.

Hey it looks like the wraith seer IS in legends, so that's 9 knights and 6 wraithlords.

I think the Custodes Solar Spearhead could be fun, running a bunch of Golden Kool-aid men at your opponent...

You could take 3 each of the:

Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought

Contemptor-Galatus Dreadnought

Telemon Heavy Dreadnought

Venerable Dreadnought

And of you wanted to be super silly you could add a Freeblade Armiger or 3.

I'd say that T'au are probably the best at it as they have the most variation and flexibility if what you can bring and are very much designed with this style in mind.

As a side note, you can run all mecha Space Wolves if you run Bjorn as your Warlord.

I just wish there were some close combat, beam saber weilding Tau battlesuits.

All the ranged stuff is boring.
