Hey look at this. Unlike the Tyranid launch campaign for 10th edition, you DO NOT need to buy the Armageddon box set to participate in this campaign! Very good GW!

Not really much of a "campaign".
Just log in once a week & claim you won a game for either the SM or Orks.
And the prize?
A new detachment! For the "winning side".
Aka: Something you'd get anyways in all likeyhood.

Remember when the results of the last campaign just so happened to align with the release order of the factions involved? That was convenient...

I want to encourage GW to do stuff like this more often, but I also remember when the results from the Koronus campaign were firmly against the imperials and the fluff "representing" that was, "Oh man! Chaos has had some minor victories, but it sure has been awfully close!" Automatically Appended Next Post: ccs wrote:Not really much of a "campaign".

"Unfortunately, the marines have won this week, so we've deleted the harddrive the new Grot Revolution detachment was on."
More seriously, I like the *idea* of this. I'd generally be down for seeing something like this every quarter as a way of making people feel a smidge more connected to the goings on of the setting. Fork over the money for someone to write a few paragraphs of fluff every few months. Bonus points if that fluff actually represents the results.

ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Yeah, but you can't really have it affect anything major. GW learned that the hard way after the 2004 Storm of Chaos for WHFB. Orc and Goblins players absolutely hijacked that campaign, and GW (to their credit) did write the fluff to match the results. They just retconned it out of existence almost immediately thereafter.
Now, the Albion campaign was fun because the rewards for the winning armies were a smattering of new magic items (including the Dark Elves getting - I kid you not - a power fist).

Honestly, I kind of *prefer* this sort of thing not affecting anything major. Use it as an excuse to create some little lore blurbs similar to what we got in the 7th/8th edition codex timelines, but with a greater sense of connection from the players.

No bet. I personally would report for the Orks just to stick it to the Marines/Imperium.

Absolutely, people will protest vote for Orks just like they did Tyranids last time.
