I kind of struggle with brightness and texture differences to be honest

I find colour differences much easier to pick up on.

I handle both quite well.

Make a diamond pick.
Enchant.

Repeat until you get Silk Touch.

I've been playing the Vinyl Fantasy survival map lately.

Holy crap is this a hard map! Guude's 404 was nothing compared to this monstrosity.

Gold picks are more enchantable (and this more likely to get silk touch) but diamond picks last longer.

Gold picks are also more expensive. You get fewer uses from them and gold is almost as rare (if you don't have a gold farm) as diamond.

But otherwise, yes.

We do have a gold farm and as we only need a shovel for mycellium we only need one ingot per tool

And in theory we only need a few uses to get that mycellium.

I'd rather have the mining pick for ores, and I'd rather have diamond because gold only works 33 times before breaking.

edit: and I don't think you can harvest diamond or redstone with gold.

Gold is better for the purposes of mycellium, diamond for most other things.

Gold can't harvest any ores except coal.

No idea. I've only ever used gold picks for mining stone.

I've never used gold picks but I recall they were equal to iron in mining ability but faster and more fragile.

They cant be used for redstone anyways.

Silk touch, depending on what type of pick you have, mines the ore block so you get actual ore blocks, for example, you get a lapis ore block with silk touch, coal ore, diamond ore, redstone ore etc.
I've been really trying for silk touch, but I'm out of luck, all I get are fortune picks...

So when I attempted to play minecraft the server crashed then when it came back my pc crashed, I blame shrike.

I'm eying that ocean to the right of the jungle reserve as the site for the grand temple of terra

Guys, Jungle biomes are incredible. Heres some screens of something Ive been working on in single player.

The 4 sapling giant tree feature also makes it dead easy to replicate them!

Dang, I'm missing the game so much right now. Though my Video Card Drivers are all up to date, Minecraft claims they're not.

Can you grow giant trees outside of the jungle biome, or is it jungle only?
