Yeah, but modern English is just German mixed with French and then further influenced by every other language under the sun.

Every language used in the last two thousand years is just an amalgamation of the languages that came before. Humans were able to communicate through speech thousands of years before recorded history.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Even so, the origin of that word is listed as Latin not German. Anyhow, lots of languages share lots of words - languages like swedish, german, english are pretty closely related, as you are saying. My point was just that it's not a german word used in english, but a naturalized english word.

EDIT: Hm, maybe getting back on topic is better

This is the most realistic suggestion in this entire thread, and I find that deeply disturbing. There are plenty of stores with their own cards, so a GW store card is not without precedent. Given the propensity of gamers to buy far more minis than they'll ever paint, combined with the idea of just "putting it on the card", and exacerbated by (given GW's pricing) oh, I dunno, a 30% APR.....

Yeah, I can see a wave of bankruptcies due to people buying too many toy soldiers showing up on CNN. :(

See?

If I were in Germany, the amount of eye-rolling would be painful.

I absolutely agree. Looking into the Sci-Fi section with all those beautiful Star Wars and Warhams books with their horribly disfigured german titles makes me wanne cry every time I enter a book store. The horror ....

BTT: SpaceHulk WOULD be cool!

Its a latin word- not German, not English- Its Latin. That it may have been co-opted into other languages is secondary- its a Roman word.

You heard it here first!

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

The super secret project no one has heard of is because it's a project from the marketing department, they are going to raise all prices another 25% due to the ever increasing costs of the recycled cardboard they use to make their boxes out of.

C'Mon! Really? This post is still alive and not stopped? Good god, I posted a legit post under rumours about the new plastic stormtroopers coming out aug/sep with confirmed photos and dropped names of GW artists and staff that gave it to me, and that post was stopped within moments by admin as "unverifiable rumour" or some c%$p....But this? This vague claim "something is coming from GW" is left to wander off in untold chicken hen rambels? Geesh!

...YOU NEVER POSTED THE PICS. I call BS. As much as I'd like to believe you, you said there were pics. They have not been posted. C'mon man, where are they?

MOD Frazzled froze topic before I could get pic up.....
I was one of the first to post the 3 up green version with shotty.....
My other post was frozen before I could get the cell phone pic up of the kneeling stormtrooper/kasrkin model.....from a forwarded cell phone pic, enlarged, sharpened......

So.... No more replies from this guy? Really? I'm shocked.

Pfft. Foreigners. Everyone here in the USA, greatest nation on god's green earth, knows that english was the 1st language ever written and that those other, inferior, languages are simply poor replicas. Your education system has duped you, sir.

seriosly, no offence to the many yanks who frequent this forum, but i really hate what the americans have done to our beautiful language, english is called english because its from england, i hate how the americans think that they invented the language.

ohh and back on topic, i think that it will be space hulk, so not much to write home about.

I'm trying to think of any other German words in Warhammer.

There is of course Inquisitor Eisenhorn and if I recall correctly, the Inquisitor featured in the White Dwarf =I= a lot was called Lichtenstein.

I prefer Lichenstien.

But in other terms, if it is Space Hulk, do you reckon it'll be limited to Terminators and Nids again, or more broad?

Out of the box Terminators & Genestealers. If it proves to be a success who knows.

Knowing GW, I wouldn't be shocked if it's just the pre-release for Space Wolves.

Slightly disappointed by this news (was hoping for something new on the Terminator front, but with AoBR versions somewhat new too, I guess not!), but still excited by a new version of Space Hulk!

K, I can't just let this one slide. I've never seen such obvious sarcasm get misinterpreted over petty arrogance. Do you also hate what our Australian Dakkaites have done to your language? Or anybody else that speaks English with something other than a British accent? Have you ever actually heard an American say that Americans invented English? (Besides in a forum post which is absolutely dripping with sarcasm) To hate a culture for simply using a dialect or accent that isn't yours... I can't even fathom such xenophobia.

I have in fact, ive met americans who have stated that we stole the language from them, ive also met candians and australians who also abuse the language, but these are mainly former colonial states, and they can actually speak english correctly, ive been told by an american that im not speaking correct english, that is the type of thing that im opposed to. I did realise the sarcasm i just thought that i would take the oppertunity to vocalise my views.

I was about to mention that the 'English language isn't even particularly consistent across the UK, if Monty Python, Life on Mars, and Dr. Who have taught me anything.

(I've heard things have broken down as in the last decade or two policies on television personalities in the UK that pretty much mandated 'proper' English accent have been dropped, so you hear a bit more pronounced accents and such now... Otherwise, it seems like everyone sounded like John Cleese. Not that there's anything wrong, as he's got a good voice.)

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

does any of you guys really think that GW has something in the pipeline that nobody knows of ?
highly unlikely if you ask me.

just checked the german GW website, this years games day shirt is "geheimsache" (man i love those german words ) meaning the motive will have something to do with the new product they will present.

i still think its spacehulk but its GW, so it could be something so well known to us that we would at least have a good laugh out of it

funny thread though and he really doesn't look THAT bad
