I'm confused by this.
If this has already been pointed out forgive me, your army is supposed to be a Deathwatch force yet none of your marines are actually painted in the Deathwatch paint scheme. They have all retained the colors of their chapters they just have a Deathwatch shoulder guard which according to fluff means that they have served in the Deathwatch and have since then returned to their chapter?
If this is another part of the army that's un fluffy that's fine. I have my own Deathwatch army using the SM codex despite what everyone says that Deathwatch woulden't form an actual army so I get where you're coming from on that. I just don't get why they aren't painted as Deathwatch if that's what they're supposed to be?

My fluff is that these guys are all DW veterans, and have been seconded to Inquisitor Speilman and his =I= strike force. Inquisitor Speilman is a bit more liberal in his thinking and counter to standard DW colors, has generously allowed his DW members to retain their origin color schemes, with just the DW pad to show what they are up to at the moment.
Out of fluff... I wanted to have a visually distinct and different army .. sort of my own Codex Astartes gallery. It is much easier to do the black and silver official DW scheme than this.. but I enjoy being different. Plus, for this army, EACH model has his own story and name.. which allows me to grab a figure, and say..
"Oh, this marine, the Mortificator? He was painted for me by my pal Gitsplitta off DakkaDakka.. great website.. you should visit it.. "

Matrim, while I WOULD like a Soul Drinker, abnd I appreciate the offer, I think that they are a little on the "outcast and persecuted" side of things, and would not fit well with the army idea. Gitsplitta offered me one of his Mantis Warriors and I declined for the same reason..

Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!
"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
—Captain Khârn of the World Eaters Legion's 8th Assault Company, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions |
