I think the 28mm sized Heroquest ones are supposed to be correct, and the ogre sized ones were a mistake. But now it seems that the oversized ones have been accepted as canon by Forgeworld. If anyone would like to correct me as to the cause of the sculpting differences in the earlier Fimir miniatures, feel free.

There was a miscommunication to the designer of the fimir range that ended up making them up to the ogre size. Once it happened, they were officially 'retconned' to that size - they were small on a 40mm base at that time but being that they were always supposed to be much larger than orcs, and given how much orcs have increased in size, the upping to 40mm bases was actually fortuitous and is now accurate.

(they were strongly based on fomorian sea demons, who'sleader, Balor, had only one eye - as such, being larger creatures seems appropriate to me).

Yes, reading the wiki link you provided back a few pages, when Jes designed the Fimir they where supposed to be human size but nick bibby (may him and gary morley rot in hell for their horrible sculpts over the years) sculpted them orge size and on a 40mm base. They where underpowered for a 40mm based size creature and while they came out in 3rd ed WHFB and WHFRP they where dropped for 4th edition WHBF because they use rape to propigate their race and it's not kid friendly. This is all according to a wiki page so take with a grain of salt.

Personally I would love FW to do Ad-mech it's long over due imho. I do like the pread, it looks reto-tastic to me. Gotta pander to all the older guys like us who have faund memorys of by gone 40k era days.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense! So in the pics, is it still 40mm bases (not 50)?

They where underpowered for a 40mm based size creature and while they came out in 3rd ed WHFB

When I looked at stats for 3 ed ogres and fimir, fimir were same or little better in combat (higher T)
Never understood that argument what is in wiki.

Does anyone have rules for heroquest fimir? I didnt find them, are they how much different compared to 3rd ed?
Bigger base=easier conversions!

I'm really liking the WFB and 40k stuff from FW... The Retro Predator is everything the modern plastic kit should have been and the Fimir will make a nice addition to my Chaos Dwarf army... not that I don't already have enough on my to buy list.

They do. If you look through the Horus Heresy artbook... where the image you posted came from. Those other variants of Terminator armor are shown in a number of places. The Mk 2 is used as Ferrus Manus' body guards for example... though they're partially in shadow.

Is the M&M variant still officially in?

I've love to see a FW version of that one!
