i hate to say it, but i would put a lot of $ on the army being in a dumpster somewhere. i work for the police, and the thief probably saw something that looks to normal people like a computer or gun case (i.e. something valuable) and upon opening it probably said something along the lines of 'WTF dollies!' and pitched it.

the moral of the story is this...dont leave anything in your car that you are not willing to lose. not even in your driveway, not even for 10 minutes. vehicle burglaries are one of the few crimes that are completely, totally preventable. hopefully it is a lesson learned.

I had my pickup broken into, they looked through my cases, but didn't have much interest in little painted men. A word of advice, though. Don't keep your codexes and army books in old laptop cases. Apparently, the thieves thought they were laptops, grabbed the cases, and vamoosed! I was extremely fortunate in that they had to escape by climbing a nearby fence, and opened the cases to figure out what laptops to take - and found game books. Dumped them all out in the bushes, and took, of all things, the dice. Got most of my stuff back, and now have a trunk instead of a truck cab, and don't use laptop bags to attract attention.

Like I said I feel bad for the guy because in most those circumstances you don't feel like you deserved it. But this is why choosing a gaming store and carrying case are so important for you to maintain your investment properly. My gaming store 9 times out of 10 will have friends looking out for me but also a few ex-cops who play as well that are good friends of mine I have left my army on the table for hours before unattended or not even in the store for this (a little bit of risk but I felt confident knowing someone would notice something up. My case is one of those large looks like luggage containers nearly past my abs in height (so about 4.5 ft) and about as wide as me as well, so it's not as easy as per say other armies like grey knights for example (i assume they leave with a baggy? maybe a tiny shoe box? lol j/k) but my ponderous force is a bit hard to come by and I never punish them by keeping them in the cold or heat of my car since I have no garage. Not to mention I keep them in the house to consider new paint jobs.

Thats very disheartening to hear. I would be on the look out for it and would probably even help out to buy a few "replacements". I know it probably not what the person would want since it wouldnt be "their models" but I think it would help a bit. Right? Everyone like shiney new models.

Fething punks. I really don't understand people like this. I would never steal something from a fellow gamer.

Here here, I bet the type of people that would do that are the ones who refuse defeat lie about rules and throw dice when you've beat them at the game. Even though I am with ya, I understand the opprotunity.... not that i condone it.
