Yes, I know I can be intractable in my views on things, that is why I specifically say "this is the way I see it, if you disagree lets get a judge to sort it out."

Regardless, I know I could chill out and relax on rules interpretations so I get the hint =P. Sometimes a judge isn't always handy to sort things out and letting it go or dicing off is the most amicable way of handling a situation.

@Mortetvie

Yeah man, I like playing you, you are an excellent general, I just had to give someone a 1 on sports, and we had the most rules issues. If it was a straight up 5 points scale, I would not have given you lower than a 4, but that wasn't an option.

Oh well, dude, don't let it get you down. Everyone likes seeing you at events, just use this as a way to up your game a bit I guess.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I would have also given him an average sports score in any other sports scoring method, but in that format someone has to get the 1.

All over

I didn't dig the way sports/appearance were scored though as I had all good opponents and it didn't seem fair to give one a "1" (which could potentially ruin their chance of winning) simply because I HAVE to, not because they earned it.

Case in point is Dok getting a 9, he is probably one of the most fun guys I've ever played, doesn't make sense.

Now I have known you for awhile and I consider you a good friend but your army isn't fully painted with high lighting and all that jazz. Also half your models aren't fully put together. If I was running event there would be no way I'd give you a painting score. Now things could have changed since I saw your army last.

As for your sportsmanship score......to put it nicely you get pretty snappy and rude with people and you tend to talk down to people about rules.

@Chris, my army is now fully put together and my infantry are painted nicely, its mainly my tanks that need the cockpits and gemstones painted more nicely =). As far as the rules bit, people take things the wrong way as I never try to be rude though I do stand firm where I think I am right. As you've found, I tend to be right, but perhaps I could be nicer about being right =P. Anyway, the last time we played was what, a few years ago?

@Reece, i'm not down, its all good constructive criticism. I like our games too, they always come down to who has the best dice though haha... My Falcon isn't as invulnerable as it used to be =(.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by no comp events, but subjective scores have no place in a competitive event. That being said, it was outlined that this would be part of the scoring prior to the event, so it was to be expected.
However, I can't help but feel that some people got a better run of it. I had a load of fun and had some tough games against some really good players. Gauging sports out of those five games was really hard for me. None of the games was really that outstanding from the other as far as fun was concerned, so someone got a 5 that didn't necessarily deserve it, and someone got a 1 that didn't necessarily deserve it.
Painting is a lot easier to judge on a 1-5 scale as some army's were definitely painted better than others. Maybe not the best painted there, but it was definitely easier to judge those compared against each other.
All in all, it was fun and I would play there again. Dave gets a 5 for sports for setting up the snack/water station. That was a brilliant addition and was greatly appreciated by the players.

Yeah, the Ibuprofen was clutch, too! Had a killer hangover both days.
