You'd think so, but I've seen a grown man smash a model in a fit of rage at 'Ard Boyz once.
The TO said he won best sportsman, and the prize was a tube of glue.

I've seen a 25ish old player chuck Ghazgkull Thraka across a room before (he outflanked foot vanguard with kommandos and lost them all with a single SM lost). That's a heavy model and it did some damage to a table and the drywall.
So yeah, some people don't handle losing or winning very well.

i cant see 1k sons winning even with AP3 bolters. purifiers are cheaper, have 2 attacks, free upgrades, psycannons, free power weapons, free storm bolters etc.
at 12-24 inchs they have twice as many shots with storm bolters + psycannons. at 1-12 inchs they are in range to use incenerators and assault/slaughter them with halbreds.

Thousand Sons still have a 4+ save where as GK don't really get theirs until they engage in CC, but even with all those fancy power weapons, they STILL have 4+.
If a GK had 4 attacks, only 2 would hit, and only 1 would wound. Now there's a 50% chance that wound is negated.........now that IF GK had 4 attacks.......

Hmm, some people who spend far too much time cloistered away painting intricate details on evolved green army guys are thrust in to a social environment and put in competition with one another?
A competition involving those little guys they spend so much time working on?
I'm never surprised when this turns out badly. I remember in my sojurn through 'scouts, how insanely childish grown men could act over their son's little roller cars (thankfully, a small minority). And those (typically) had a fraction of the time spent on them as WH miniatures. Heck, just a trip through rush hour can show you how self-obsessed and juvenile grown adults can be. So, while the OP's story sounds like hyperbole at best as presented? I can believe, easily, that one could find a pair of idiots like that with no real effort at all. (Some father and son activities especially are prone to this. My theory, after said pine wood derby experiences, is as follows: "I am a huge D-bag and had a kid. Because I am such an irredeemable narcissist, I have to show everyone that I win at having a kid, therefore, my involvement in my child's life takes the form of trying to make sure he wins at everything, all the time, no matter the cost. Because my child learns by watching me, he is doomed to be just a big self entitled D-bag as I am when he grows up. And the circle continues."
This is one reason why my beloved green army guys (who, as fate would have it, are actually green ) only ever get brought out for games with people I know well. This, of course, means I don't get a ton of practice, and you'll never see me giving crunch-advice to people, but I'm happier this way.

I can't imagine freaking out that much. I mean, I have swore (very loudly I might add) when I lost a game for myself, but never threw anything.
Also, lots of T-sons players coming out of the woodwork lately. I wounder why that is...

He didn't say it seemed unrealistic. It's painfully and foolishly realistic that people take loss badly.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it. |

I know a guy that claws his face, throws his book down, and snatches and throws his models. They are all orks, and im not talking about jsut when he loses. When he rolls poorly, etc, he does this. My first impression of him, and i almost refused to ever play him again. Also, during a later game he told me he wished i got into a motorcycle accident and died. He told me again later, and if it wasnt for his friend intervening and telling me this guy was just kidding, had he said it, or anything offensive again, i would have smashed his models and left.
So yeah, I believe the OP 100%.
I doubt he cooked up a story like this as an april fools joke.
And if he did, i bet similar has happened.
