Haha yeah, you'll get no argument from me there about the overpriced marine thing, especially their compulsory sergeants, argh. Expensive units with almost no options apart from what psychic power you give the aspiring sorcerer - who still has a chance to blow his own brains out through perils. The number of times that's happened to me... Though the 4++ invuln also comes in handy against high AP shooting, as well as dreadnoughts and monstrous creatures in melee, not just power weapons.
The Sons definitely have their major drawbacks... but I mostly play Sons for the fluff rather than their rules, hehe. Though I will admit a certain fondness for Terminators with 4++ invuln saves... doesn't stop mine from dying horribly most of the time, but still!

Grammar douche is here, use the letter A less. Its unnecessary right before you say "2x grey knight players and "that sounds funny coming from grey knight players" i know you dont care and no one else does, but a quick edit will go a long way in how serious people take you. Lol epic story though
GK wrote:Hey mates. Well after deciding to play a 40K game with my Thousand Sons (you can see where this is going), I went to another game store, where a 2x Grey Knight players (farther and son), where just finishing up mopping the floor with these two young players who where just starting out, and they where just treating these two kids like crap and insulting there army's the entire time....... Now I know this isnt all of them, but in my experience, many Grey Knight Players tend to be cocky, power-hungry gamers who just want to win every single game, so me being me, I told them to shut it. Asking what I had, they began laughing and saying that Thousand Sons are a joke, so naturally I accepted there challenge in a 2,000 point game. first game was against the son, who ran a Troop-Heavy list with a lot of interceptors, and to put it bluntly, it was over in turn one.
Him" Hah! My Grey Knights are in position to assault your pathetic Chaos army next turn!" (what he actually said, and this guy was older than me shockingly)
Me: "Fine with me" Now all 3x of my 9x manThousand Son Squad's will rapid-fire into your Grey Knights, oh and I have Warp-Time with my Sorcerer's so I get rerolls to hit and wound with them."
Him "What, that's OP!"
Me: (After rolls) "Hmm, "54 shots, 32 wounds mate" (I admit it, I roll very well )
Him: "Are you kidding me!! I have to take 32 3+ saves!!"
Me: "Actually you dont get any saves at all"
Him: " .......... What?"
Me: "My guys have AP3 bolters, so your guys die instantly."
Him: "
Overall, it ended badly for him as I mopped the floor with his army and his pretty good painted Grey Knight Lord flying across the game-store and him in tears. Seeing what my army did to his, his farther challenged me against my list........ which ended pretty much the same as the game against his son, but this time it was his Dreadnought that went flying across the store . After being told to get the hell out by the guy in charge of the store (who was trying so hard not to laugh at this point), both of them began yelling at me and saying that Thousand Sons are overpowered and should be banned from the store as they waddled out.......... Coming from a Grey Knights players, thats just funny and very hypocritical. But overall, it was rewarding to beat them, and good news is that those two kids who where just starting out both now want to play a Thousands Sons army. Slowly but surely, Chaos is begin to grow .

It sounds like the GK players forgot their libby hood which shuts down chaos sorcs.
Overconfident players are the easiest players to beat though. I personally love BA players that think they are the last word in assault troops only to run into Incubi.

I agree with you with the GK being Cocky Arrogant gak heads!
The guy who comes to my store who is the only player who playes them wins every single game he playes in and auto assumes he is going to win before he makes a match.
I have never personally played him but I am sure I could take em with my orks or SW army. Especially when I get my Long Fangs with Las cannons and my 9 land speeders with auto cannons for my list lol.
He thinks his army is the best thing ever and that he can never lose.
If I were to do Chaos Marines though, I would want to do Emperors Children

I gotta say, lies or not, I lol'd. I hate players like that. It's a game for heaven's sake, it is supposed to be FUN! But there is hope.
I was playing a 16 year old just a few days ago, yeah he was a bit spazzy, but he was very polite, yeah him asking his dad about rules every turn was a tad annoying, but you take what you can get with good humor right? Even after I killed Mephiston in melee due to some really good rolling, and his lack of invuln save, he kept his cool.
I was obviously pretty impressed.

Huh, the 1st April thing never occurred to me, for obvious reasons. As for the story itself, I dunno if it's just 'cause I'm a Thousand Sons player as well and have had similar things happen with my Sons vs Grey Knights, but I really don't think the story's that crazy.

I found it was the great pains he took to portray, from the very beginning of his narrative, of these people in a negative manner.
Thereon defeating both of them utterly and their sensational destruction of their own properties because they had 'never lost'.
Well, I greet a lot of stories on Dakka with suspicion. At best I think this one is heavily embellished. I doubt that every GW is some hive of craziness, insanity and destruction. Dakka would make you believe that it was.

I have no idea why people do that, im a GK player and I always try to help others be better that I play with...when I play people that are learning I play carful and cautious...now the people in ourshop that are good I play aggressive and go fo the win...but when we get new people I play a competitive list and make its known ill go easy unless they know how to play.
not bragging, I have played for a few years now, im not an expert but no noob either. Automatically Appended Next Post: to add, I have no idea why other gk players act the way they do, its heresy...

For the Emperor, our Primark, Death to the UnClean
Grey Knights, making armies run off the board since the new Codex
"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day."

Congrats on the win! However, I would just like to say that I do have a good friend that plays Grey Knights (very well) that isn't like the afore mentioned father - son tandem. Most of the players at my store enjoy playing him because he's rather fair and just while playing and is generally laid back about winning (even the epic ones).
Secondly, I'm so glad you knocked them down a peg or two. I can't stand players that belittle new players or even experienced ones. The game is meant to be fun. Not cause to be made fun of.
Good on ya!

Personally i can't say that GK players are all d-bags. Just the ones that started playing this codex. I read both stories, the one from the GK player and the one from the 1K sons players. I gotta say, its hard to tell who to side with. It seems kinda funny that 2 people from dakka played each other with out knowing it and both posted that the other is a d-bag. If the kid who lost did cry, Just shows what kinda father he had. Crying over a game... sad times.
Personally i lean towards the 1k sons player. We have all seen the people who throw models and get all p'off because they lost. And we all know that ap3 bolters suck. Who knows, maybe some one took a video of it.
One last thing, Mono god chaos for the win...

So my two cents on everything going on in this thread.
1) GK IMO are overpowered but are subject to hard counters, a foot slogging or deep strike gk army agains thousand sons is a good example, and surprisingly daemons in the gk player hasn't taken his broken anti daemon tools.
2) you can't stereotype an entire group of players as being a-holes. There are lots of great GK players that are fun to play with. With that said I do think you get a higher % of d-bags in the gk population because GK are largely considered the easiest army to win with. This is what d-bag players are looking for so lots end up as gk players.
3) I believe op could have table the son in the first game. Op has a hard counter to an interceptor list and his opponent didn't Know what he was facing. I'm surprised/have difficulty believing OP mopped the floor with the dad as well because if he is awa you have ap 3 bolsters he should be able to counter it

That's true, but if ypu wre roling purifiers in rhino's you can likely get into CC without ever having faced a shot from the ap3 bolters, while peppering them with S7 shots every turn. Just saying
