Honestly, as I mentioned in the SM thread, $50 for 5 would be doable if they also came with 5 of each combi-weapon, all loadouts for the sergeant (PF, PW, LC, etc). And if it was a dual kit, that would be even better. But likely it'll be or of each C-W, the hand weapons, and still charge $50...which would e bad.

That's assuming that Vanguard/Sternguard are retaining the same options...which admittedly is no different than my stance of 'Easy to convert'.

If they don't come out with a plastic Stern/Vanguard combo box a la Death Company, and instead release some stupid 'tactical dreadknight armor' box I am going to be very upset. Seriously, C:SM doesn't need any new units. It needs a cost balance and some updated rules and less finecast units!

This.I would love them to release that.

Disagree.

Vanguard/Sternguard are so stupidly easy to kitbash that a plastic kit is wholly unnecessary except for simply making a new plastic kit with some new options to get people buying.

So having dedicated kits is sub-optimal to needing to hit up bits sites or scrounging from other kits to achieve the same thing? Yeah, I'd rather have the dedicated kits. Besides, they might make good boxes to raid for Sergeant bits.

Having a dedicated kit is suboptimal to getting something redone which actually needs to be redone; like the Scout kits or the standard PA Marines.

Of course by releasing an 'official' Sternguard/Vanguard kit you'll see people throwing money at GW like it is going out of style; unless the pricing is so exorbitantly bad that it keeps them away.
Like the Shadow Warrior/Maiden of Avelorn kit for the High Elves to give an example.

Honestly I'd dig the new kits as long as they handle the weapon options decently. Right now those units are in Finecast, and as much as I like the look of them, it adds a layer of fragility I'd like to avoid dealing with.

It might be time to move this discussion over to the slightly more comprehensive newer thread...
