What alternative does GW have? Invent new bland variants of basic troops? Invent countless more random infantry types that were never in fluff? The "larger size" area of 40k is unexplored and has room for a large variety of new interesting units, and sales show that this is in fact what people want to buy.

Should be interesting how they plan to shoe horn this in the Index Astartes.
Sounds like an excuse to give marines access to MCs in standard lists (not just meph), which is bs. Remember when each army had a character trait that it was known for? Like Eldar being all about speed? Well F you, marines get everything.
The concept of "Marine tax" started as a joke and now has become some twisted reality.

I generally am averse to all of the throwback re-released models Forgeworld has done, but I would really like to see a remake of this thing.
So far as redoing Chaos Terminators, why would they possibly do that? They're one of the best models Chaos has and they're already in plastic.

Chaos termies have one of the worse cases of lack of good load outs in a box. Last time I checked its hard to get a squad of all the same gear.

What stuff are they missing? When I made my post I was talking about aesthetics, not tabletop viability - I guess I forgot they can take a lot of special weapons, right?

He didn't say it's missing stuff, he said it's hard getting a uniform loadout for the squad. The options are there, but generally only once for the whole squad. When you want 5 combi meltas and only get 1, it doesn't stretch very far.

A couple people have made this mistake. There's a colon between the C and the SM in the title of the thread, indicating that it's Codex: Space Marines and not Chaos. Either way, there's nothing for this rumor to stand on so I don't see anything coming of it.

See? There you go; Forge Guardians, a special type of heavy combat servitor employed by Space Marine Chapters to guard their production facilities and technological relics, who are sometimes taken onto the battlefield by the Master of the Forge. New unit, within the theme but explores a new area of it, not a rehash of an existing unit. Would also provide conversion fodder for people doing AdMech armies, and new models for people playing Grey Knights who want combat servitors, same for IG players, so has broad appeal.
There are loads of possibilities to expand existing armies without just resorting to "MOAR BIG MODELZ!" or "THAT WUN BUT BIGGAH!", but either the design studio have run out of creativity, or the higher-ups are stifling it in order to normalise all the armies.

Lets be honest here Bryll, you'd buy the new Space Marine Land Turd, a flying coil of dog turd, if it were a plastic kit put out by GW.

Part of me wants to say we don't need a stepping stone between Terminators and Dreadnoughts. We've already got two types of terminator and three types of dread in C:SM.
But who am I kidding? If we got uber-terminators,I porbably would buy a kit like that. I'm just not sure what actual role they could play that isn't already covered by something else in the book.
The only thing I wouldn't like to see is a flyer-base MC. I just can't see how that would fit the army at all.

I saw that many people were talking about new, larger miniatures for Terminators.
However, said like that it would seem that they are adding a whole new unit, like a sort of Super Terminator, instead of replacing the current Terminator model. Am I missing something?

Shouldn't regular terminators already be 'super' enough? The rules really just need to be altered to make 2+ armour more durable, and so that small arms fire isn't as marginalized as it is becoming.

Yeah...
That was awesome but sillyness aside you know its going to be spot on lol...
Deep within mechanicus forge worlds lay secret values filled with ancient relics of wars long past sitting in solitude, some forgotten, some steeped in mystery, others locked away considered heretical, too extreme for most chapters to bring to bear against the enemy in fear they may fall into the wrong hands. Alongside these treasures sit stasis vaults with intricate time vortex locks than can only be opened by a psychic link far stronger than has been known for millennia. In times of need such vaults have opened as if guided by a higher power revealing huge stocks of potent weaponry, powerful conversion beamers, huge stocks of plasma weapons and devastating special issue bolter munitions, now as ever conflicts are being fought that shape the very balance of the galaxy, and one such vault has just opened to help swing the war in the favour of mankind once more, this vault contains ancient patterns of armour left by the emperor himself to help us reclaim the stars. Echelon Termanius-maximus Titanicus armour, its uber emperor class powers will give your marines the war boner they need to kick serious {insert xeno genitals here}.
