If they don't come out with a plastic Stern/Vanguard combo box a la Death Company, and instead release some stupid 'tactical dreadknight armor' box I am going to be very upset. Seriously, C:SM doesn't need any new units. It needs a cost balance and some updated rules and less finecast units!

I can categorically state that no kit will be redone at the time of the codex release, the kits released alongside it will be for any new units they include.
Any new box for an existing unit will either not be released, or will be released further down the road once the books are finished.
@Pretre you can rumourmonger me for that if you like, source: my head.
This is the first, and possibly largest and furthest reaching consequence of the CHS case, no new unit without new models.

You must be new to 40k to think that GWwouldn't release new units with the codex. Seriously, there isn't and won't be a new codex that doesn't get new toys. If they didn't then GW couldn't properly monetize the army when dealing with veteran players who already have everything else in the book.

Imperial, sure, but it wouldn't make any sense fluff-wise for Knight Titans to be serving in a Space Marine army, they're two totally separate groups.
Balance wise I wouldn't want the IG to have it though. They already have a thick volume of armored toys and don't need a big stompy robot in there too.
EDIT: Forgot part of my sentence there.

Strictly speaking, a Knight should be part of an AdMech army - I could see an argument for releasing it as an Apoc ally for IG and all (Imperial) flavours of SM, though.

On the other hand, they must stop at some point, since bloating the armies past all recognition is not feasible either. Where will it end. The Guard already has a dozen different Heavy Support options. What about when they have 20? Are there even niches left for new Marine units?
There's going to be something on a large oval base because that's the formula for writing a codex now. It wouldn't surprise be if they introduced the dreadknight to regular space marines.

Who knows when it'll stop. Mostly likely not in this edition though.
Nafka has new C:SM rumors posted that clarify the new "uber-terminator" models. Allegedly, they are going to be more like baby-dreadknights than uber-terminators, as they are suits that fit over standard power armour.
I personally don't mind the introduction of new units, it keeps things interesting and allows us old timers the chance to try something new without buying an entirely new army. Sternguard weren't always a thing, and yet they are easily my favorite unit in the army now.

Not Platuan4th...
Ha!
Technically, I already own a Knight Not-A-Titan.

So a space marine in another space marine....
Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Saw that Youtube link coming a mile off as soon as I read that post.
Well, I think we can officially say GW has gone beyond a parody of itself with their Spacemarineceptionators.

There's no cap. They're already doing the same thing in fantasy. Bloating every army with new units and not updating the (in some cases ancient) old models.

This.I would love them to release that.
No way I would want them to get a junior dreadknight. And I do not see them getting an oval base MC or yet another flyer, what with them having 2 anyway.

Disagree.
Vanguard/Sternguard are so stupidly easy to kitbash that a plastic kit is wholly unnecessary except for simply making a new plastic kit with some new options to get people buying.

So having dedicated kits is sub-optimal to needing to hit up bits sites or scrounging from other kits to achieve the same thing? Yeah, I'd rather have the dedicated kits. Besides, they might make good boxes to raid for Sergeant bits.

Having a dedicated kit is suboptimal to getting something redone which actually needs to be redone; like the Scout kits or the standard PA Marines.
Of course by releasing an 'official' Sternguard/Vanguard kit you'll see people throwing money at GW like it is going out of style; unless the pricing is so exorbitantly bad that it keeps them away.
Like the Shadow Warrior/Maiden of Avelorn kit for the High Elves to give an example.
Honestly, as I mentioned in the SM thread, $50 for 5 would be doable if they also came with 5 of each combi-weapon, all loadouts for the sergeant (PF, PW, LC, etc). And if it was a dual kit, that would be even better. But likely it'll be or of each C-W, the hand weapons, and still charge $50...which would e bad.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
