Having worked at a university, they totally do.

I prefer semester systems because the patterns of course scheduling tend to be more predictable, though I will admit that most state school run on semesters are de facto trimester systems.

That is a silver lining. My semester of Existentialism, Ethics, and Art 101 certainly was the easiest ever.

The B I was promised in Ethics under condition that I don't volunteer in class ever again spoiled me for the rest of my college career.

It doesnt work that way. Because I need 15 unit to go there, but I have only one class needed to make it to the real stuff, I need to take two others.
So Im stuck with Intro to logic(done already) and History something or other.

A thousand times, this. Take it from someone who's moved 3 times in the past year, you want to get it done right once, and not worry about it for as long as possible after that.

I ended up having to take an extra semester just because I missed my fluff requirements by one class. Spent my summer learning about monkey sex because of it.

Take online courses or courses at the local JC. The Boy did that and advanced a year and a half.

I did Unreal Tournament in college. I feel old.

Not that old. I played UT2k4 and UT3 in college (just not with the dormies). No one appreciates a good fast paced arena shooter anymore And no Call of Duty. You don't count. Unreal is a damned F1 racer and you're just some wanna be gangsta's tricked out civic

You should fear who you will end up with if you move in the middle of the year, as often there will be many places full and you will end up with someone who no one else wanted to live with.

For example. I myself started in Jan. for college a long while back, there was only 1 room available in the "party dorm floor" the dorm floor was co-ed but all the girls move out asap because it smells of the worst BO ever, the 18 year old lads are crass and slowed, vomit is everywhere, people steal each others crap, and theres always the human detritus of some young masturbator in the showers.

I got paired with an african-french lad named "jeanne-something or other" you could smell him from outside the dorm room through the wall. The heater in our room was broken so it was always on which did not make this situation better, Jeanne-X was also nicknamed "powder nuts" as I learned because he was very sweaty all the time and carried a large container of baby powder with him everywhere. Frequently, a few times every hour, he would more or less open his pants and pull his underwear out from his waist and pour baby powder down into his man bits. He made sure anyone present was watching before doing so.

he also was into cutting and "black magick" and made sure to tell/show you about it.

So I warn you against waiting to move if you want to move.

Also I toured UC Santa Cruz, go banana slugs! At the time I toured they did not have a grading system on the letter or x.x gpa scale, which I felt would not transfer well to grad school- which honestly was why I decided not to attend. I recall them having specialized dorm based on interests, or lifestyle. If I recall the computer science dorms = gamer dorms.

Well, I put in the request and he said it was likely it would be moved.

Ok, so, I was required to give a reason to why I wish to move. I said that I am a drinker but not a heavy one, I just didnt want to be with people who would hassle me over having a drink.
My mom is freaking out thinking im going to get kicked out over admitting I drink.
