What's going on with the Wood Elves?

Spoiler:

Well Ariel is dying so the Everqueen is going to save her - as Ariel's duaghters requested in exchange for help to save her daughter (which they seem to reneage on) - we were discussing ealier today about the merging of the Everequeen and Ariel to link the two "branches" of the Elf race?

Sooo how mad is Tyrion going to be about:

Spoiler:
his daughter being tortured for months and then killed and his brother allowing it?

re Kinslayer - do they bother sorting out that some of the previous books were set are around the narrative around the original storm of Chaos

Is Ulrika mentioned in the ccntext of the End Times/Nagash or Countess Gabriella?

As far as the whole deal with the SoC fluff Felix mentions that he fought Arek Daemonclaw in the last Chaos invasion (who I believe was one of Archaons leutenants) and that Felix had taken at least some part of every major campaign of the last 20 years.

Ulrika is actually a major character in the book.

Spoiler:
She is actually serving Vlad Von Carstien who she left Countess Gabriela to join. She is one of the generals I mentioned before, also she is much more powerful in this novel than in the last one I read but even she admits it's partially due to the rebirth of Nagash.

At the back of the book it does say that the saga of Gotrek will be concluded in the next novel which comes out next year. The slayer may finally find his doom!

Stupid question, is this the big book that comes in the pack with the undead legion book for £50 or the 400+ page book on nagash for £20?

Cheers

The one most people have referenced as far as I know is the big book that comes with the Nagash rules, not the standalone novel.

I want them to do this to 40k, like Paradigm said.

For the longest time Nagash was just some jerk with a dumb helmet.

Now he went off and broke warhammer. Reading all this actually makes me want to get into fantasy.

You're certainly not. He's always been my favourite High Elf special character. As shattered I was with his death, I did think it was certainly a fitting death for the Grim Warden.

Such posts will be purged with righteous flame!

I never read into Kislev's lore but always loved the models that got released and still remember that little free army booklet that came with the White Dwarf, such a badass army. When I read that their nation has been all but destroyed, daaamn son.

I have never really been emotionally attached to specific heroes mostly because I havent read fantasy books properly and get most of my info off lex and such, but the one 40k book I did read was Helsreach and never thought a slight moment of sadness would occur when a dieing character towards the end was revealed to be one of the characters I hoped to see survive. Numerous deaths actually were quite powerful thinking about it.

I never understand views which criticise those who find emotional attachment to fiction because fiction mimics reality in some way for someone, how can you not find emotion in that?

Spoiler:
He got "Curse of Years'd" by Arkhan attempting to disrupt the summoning of Nagash. But in order to do so he first layed some smack-down on Mannfred, before using the Fangsword to punch a whole in this big magic forcefield that was protecting Arkhan while he finished the summoning ritual. Pretty cool.

My wife cried when
Spoiler:
Will and Lyra got split up
in Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy.

Had a lump in my throat, too... and something in my eye.

Another one got me, but I can't for the life of me recall which novel. Just reading on the way to work then BOOM - Niagara Falls, baby.

Oh, god, why did you remind me? I was over that! Or at least, I thought I was... One of the best but most saddening scenes in modern literature. As for another one, the last chapter of Patrick Ness's 'the Knife of Never Letting Go' gets me every time, even when I know what comes next...

Frankly, if fiction does effect people emotionally, it's doing its job properly.

to me the novel kinda starts half way through the story.....................Mannfred is really really unpleasent now - a proper bad guy................but different to how I have previosuly seen him.

Yeah, he's lost his cunning.

Arkhan is a pretty nice contrast to him. Calm, focussed. Way less sadistic, too.

I'd have been sadder if he'd still been Zatoitharion rather than being retconned to pre-Blind Swordsman state a few years back.

So are the Brets going on a crusade now or is the last thing you hear about them just that Gilles has retaken his spot as King?

It would be awesome to hear if anything is happening with Nippon or Ind.

Not long a wait now till the next book I presume. Gonna be sweeeeeet.

Edit: Finally getting the chance to have a read of the book, this, is amazing, love the little attention to specific units in each battle/army. Definitely some painting and modelling inspiration here.

I don't have the End Times book, only the Novel, and in the Novel last you hear is Gilles being King, and you actually see Arkhan and Kemmler take over Maisontaal.

It's kind of sad that Mannfred has become a subordinate instead of the master he used to be.

Arkhan on the other hand has always been my favorite undead character, he was great in any of the Time of Legends novels he was in especially in Master of Death and Neferata!

Agreed - it was dispaoitning that they changed the bacground in some areas, even with the same author of those novels:

Soo Neferta gets a whole swathe of new disposable handmaidens - although at least Namia is still there on the other hand love ot have models for the handmaidens

Silver Pinnacle background from the Army books and novels has been thrown out sadly.

I know its a few posts up, but yeah, i'm in the "Nooooo, not Eltharion!" camp.

At least he had a cool narrative when he went down... unlike Leon Leoncoeur who gets a basically "OH yeah.. Leon... he be dead... moving on..."

Kinda wish the power levels present in the story were more present in the special character rules for the Undead Legions characters =) Arkhan should be the best caster, but he really isn't.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.
