I guess he thinks you are playing at war I guess.

Its a strange insult... I see you are in the US. When I lived there, most jaunts would be turned around if I just agreed with them in an exaggerrated manner.

Its too late for "this is what you should have said", but:

I'd go something like: "Yes of course... You have an eye for details... I am a real hardcore warmonger.... Thats why I collect plastic sci-fi toys, paint them and play around with other pacifist nerds in the toy store. Not everyone would recognize the hostility in this, but you did. Well done! I applaud you!"

Ironically when I got back into this game everyone I knew who played was a US Marine or in the US Navy. Now to be fair I was Active duty Marines and Stationed in Jacksonville NC (biggest Marine base in the world, by population, pendleton is bigger by mileage) SO yeah that would make sense. However, I just moved to Homestead FL where the only military presence is a Reserve air base about the size of a good mall. And up until the FLGS closed down to GW products it was about 70% Military veterans and 30% civilians, a few of which proclaimed they were going to join the military after (Insert Reason here).

Now this is obviously not a metric to grade by since its only 2 examples but maybe in the US its not a very pacifist game

I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you mess with me, I'll kill you all

I can deal with individuals saying my hobby is geeky or nerdy. in fact personal insults like that don't even register. but calling me a warmonger caught me off guard. I don't really have a comeback for that insult. I don't see myself as a warmonger and I don't see anyone else who plays table top war games as warmongers either.

Any way I just wanted to vent a little

Ask them who did they vote for last election?

Sounds like a dumbass. You should argue loudly with this person every day until he sees his mistake.

It's time wasting. Then another one will say "You are gay and anime fan because you play Eldar" (I'm not sure is the "gay" considered insulting now in your country, but meant so).
Or "You are communist because you downloaded rules from piratebay". You will loose time, explaining there is no connection between communism and internet pirating. Or someting like this.

Really? Four pages of posts on this, all on how to respond?!

Unless this person has some sort of control over your daily life what does it matter what they think or say? Whey even bother responding or reacting? It's just some ones opinion.

My personal mental check list in such situations:

Do I still have a job?
Does my wife still love me?
Do I still have a house?
Am I still healthy?

If none of the above have been affected by said incident then move on. It's only words.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Clearly you don't have the last one... you're a dirty neck bearded gamer type who's warmongering fascinations demand he paint and sniff glue and....

Feth, I can't even take myself seriously on that one any more Pretty good checklist, except number 1 doesn't apply to me at the moment

However, I will say that if you're hearing these sorts of sentiments from someone "important" to you, and you hear it often enough, then yeah, I think health can be affected by that kind of negativity.

I agree on that. If it's someone 'important' or has some sort of day to day influence on your life then I see it being an issue, otherwise "whatever!" (to the person making the comments).
