But then how will we get our updated Deathwing Terminators?

OK, I guess there's a boxed set, and Dark Vengeance, but still...

If anything sums up the ineptitude of GW these past years, it's this.

One of the best tabletop games of all time, beloved by the community, and by all accounts was flying off the shelves, such was its popularity.

Can you imagine Coca Cola pulling the plug on a successful product*, or any other half-decent company acting this way?

With 2 small kids I can now understand the whole 'Disney vault' concept. With holding a product for a while means that you have an incentive to buy it when it comes out, not wait for a sale, not think for a bit, BUY IT NOW FANBOI because you don't know if/when it will be back.

Something that will always be on the shelves we take for granted.

I just dropped a few 100 bucks on FFG games that are going out of print. I could have bought them any time over the last few years, I have no special need, hell I may not play them for years, but now the fear is on me so I got them.

Exactly this, Kid_Kyoto. Moratorium releases turn "oh I'm totally gonna get X" internet convos that never become real action (how many armies have we all talked about getting?) into people rushing into stores so as not to miss out. Engineering scarcity or rumours of scarcity is a great short-term cash bump strategy.

Good news, really, since Space Hulk is fun and I thought it should have been a general release from the start...but I find it irksome that they originally advertised it as being strictly limited, saying that once the game was gone it was gone and you would never have a chance to get it again, and now they just reprint it whenever they feel like it. I have a really hard time forgiving blatant lies, especially ones that enable sleazy eBay scalping like this one did. Some people made as much as $300 for a box that originally sold for $99...lots of profit being made off of GW's work, that GW themselves never actually saw, because they were too focused on the short-term cash grab.

If, after three editions of the game, you thought Space Hulk was never ever going to be re-released again, I feel like the disappointment is a personal problem, and not "blatant lies" by Games Workshop. They never marketed it as a "Nevur Again Available!" They just said it was a limited run. You're confusing marketing puffery with some kind of devious deception. They ran a limited quantity, and gave no promise of future printings. And they didn't, for almost five years. It's like expecting that you can actually trade Pepsi points for a Harrier jet.

I do agree that Space Hulk should have never been a limited release though. But who knows what their printing and carrying costs were on it at the time. Old GW had a pretty bizarre market strategy at times.

Nope - go and read the WD from 2009 which was essentially a Space Hulk special. All throughout they go on endlessly, Jervis included, about how the game will be gone for good once it sells out.

That was 7 years ago. Times change and ltd editions ALWAYS get repressed due to demand.

Make a killing on my 2009 edition, I must say. Never really played it much as friends edition saw the use. Sold mine and we split the massive profit. week later........new edition gets announced.

I'm still totes wedded to the original, late Eighties version, still a classic, with both expansions. IMHO the best thing GW ever released, played it regulary for the last near-on 30 years (wow! it really has been!)
Devoured all the extra rules, glued up new tile sections on Corn Flake packet cardboard(!) bought about 3 sets of the tiles from each box.
Now revisiting the classic Terminator figures from that era, trawling E-Bay, painting up Blood Angels, Imperial Fists, Traitor Terminators, plus Primarchs, and the MF Emperor! for a large 'Storming Horus Barge' at the climax of the Heresy.
In short, LOVE the Hulk!

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

This edition of Space Hulk is specifically identifiable, the font on the front box lid has changed.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

£60 on Goblin Gaming at the moment.. and that's pretty reasonable for a game that I guess never needs another purchase.

Damn it GW what are you doing to me?

I just heard that independent stores won't be stocking this, the only way to order it online is via GW.

Can anyone confirm this? It looks like Goblin Gaming jumped the gun as it doesn't seem to be on their site anymore.

So space hulk was released in 2009, released again a few years later (with minimal new content), and released again. Even gw knows how popular this game is in its current, gorgeous edition!

So gw, when are you going to bring back the deathwing expansion? That would make space hulk so much better

IN ALAE MORTIS... On the wings of Death!!

Just thought I'd pipe up on this one given how fast GW were. Ordered my copy on Saturday and it arrived yesterday via UPS, so the pre-order rule that GW usually go by isn't in place on this item.

Originally released back in 1989(?) I believe, when the world, and me! was yoiung. This is the version, with it's two expansions, that I play.
