Why are we talking about coke again? Lol

The real question is; is it back forever or just for Christmas? I really want it, and £75 is a great price at today's standards... but how long do I have to get it?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I wonder if it's too much to hope we might get updated rules for hybrids in Space Hulk someday soon?

I might even dare to dream of rules and missions using those new Thousand Sons terminators...

I own the 2009 version so I'm not interested (as I wasn't in 2014). A reasonable move from GW though.

I just ordered the new tiles from the last ed of Space Hulk. No real reason to buy it again just for a new hat.

Anyone have a list of the supported Genestealers in the new Overkill rules? Just curious what all I may be missing.

Regardless of the coke example, isn't this what MacDonalds do all the time with the Ribwich or whatever it is called. They have it available for a certain amount of time every year and then they stop it. Despite it making money.
By limiting the availability to certain time points they can get a reliable amount of product sold (due to fear of scarcity) and get a nice injection of profit, while not having to hold onto stock for long periods of time taking up space.
Makes sense to me. As a consumer I might not like that it doesn't pander specifically to my needs, but I can understand it easily enough.

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

Instead of replying to individual comments, I'm going for the general reply approach.

I run a small shop on ebay that buys and sells miniature wargaming products, but I still don't think I'm much of a business man, but even I've heard of things such as 'sales data' and 'market research.'

If GW release 1000 units of product X in November, and by December it's sold out, I'd like to think that lightbulb appears above somebody's head at GW HQ.

I'd also like to think that there would then be some iniative to replicate this success, say with another print run of 500 units as a minimum.

After all, they are looking at sales data? Right?

And even if they were unsure, this thing called market research, where they ask people? might help them out.

A normal company would do that, but what the hell would I know, I just buy and sell for a living

Moratorium releases are a tried and tested format for manufacturers to generate a big quick-win bump of sales and not being left sitting on stock. It's not the same as a store buying stock and restocking if it sells through.

Yes, it's the government's fault that this one box is somehow more expensive than other similar items.

There's always someone who wants to bitch about any given topic or decision. There's a lot of people here, after all. I've got 3 copies of SH, never planned to scalp them. Quite fething glad it's going back onto general sale so anyone can get hold of it. The game deserves it.

Additionally, GWUK "sell" it to GWNZ (and GWAU) for cents on the dollar. Import taxes are paid on those amounts.

Yeah,
I've checked with GW this is the 2014 edition reissued

 H.B.M.C. wrote:

This is correct!
The 20014/16 version have these few extra tiles, that are missing from the 2009 version; that enable a few more missions.

Not worth buying again if you already have the 2009 version.

I have both and did a comparison between them in 2014
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/616056.page

Missions summary from that review.
The new 2014/16 Missions marked in green, use the above tiles and thus are missing from the 2009 edition.

Beachhead (1)
Terminators deploy using boarding torpedoes, the Genestealers start the mission in a dormant state (3 APs).

Suicide Mission (2)
El classico - Flame the Launch control room

Exterminate (3)
Block the genestealer entry points / kill them all!

Rescue (4)
retrieve the C.A.T.

Cleanse & Burn (5)
Flame both techmarine rooms.

Decoy (6)
As many Marines as possible Exit the Map

Alarm Call (7)
Wakey wakey sleepy marines.

Into the Depths (8)
This mission uses the turbo-lift..
The game ends when all living marines are on the second floor...
Both floors have stealer entry points.

score 1 point per marine 3 points for the Librarian on the second floor .
0-3 genestealers win
4-5 draw
6+ SpeshMArines win!

The Artefact (9)
The holy grail.

Escape Route (10)
Run the gauntlet, quickly, GStealers numbers escalate as turn numbers increase..

Regroup (11)
Marines wait for everyone to arrive... then try to exit map.

Hard Vacuum (12)
This mission uses the damaged control room tile and the hard vacuum rule (negative modifier to GS attacks).

No Escape (13)
This mission uses breach counters, there are no regular Genestealer entry points on the map.
Genestealer places the breach entry points pretty much anywhere on the map.
2 breaches are placed at the start of the game.
1 extra breach on turn 4
1 final breach on turn 8

Each Breaches spews forth 1 GeneStealer blips per turn until turn 12.

Breaches can be blocked only by standing on them.

At least 4 marines have to survive until turn 15

Defend (14)
Genestealers want to tear down a wall to breach some ducts... Marines must defend the wall.

Unknown Lifeforms (15)
Retrieve tissue samples from sleeping broodlords ... eek!

Pitfall (16)
Escape the hulk - jump down the garbage chute!

I bought the 2009 edition when it firat was released. I looked at the 2014 version, and ordered it when released due to the extra tilea, content, and missions.

I am so glad I ordered the 2014 version. More missions, tiles, and content gives more replay value. Sorry but I disagree, the 2014 is a better value and absolutely worth buying (even if you own the 2009 version). I buy all the white dwarfs with additional content or missions too... if I can add more content to my board games, why wouldn't i?

As someone who loves tiles, I don't see much point in buying the 2014 version when you have the 2009 version. I just ordered the extra tiles.

Yeah,
The idea of value is subjective.

For me I'd bought again if the 2016 edition had 1 extra mission.
And then probably sold off the remains as a 2009/14 edition.

but the outlay £50- £75 for 1-4 missions is extreme.
So I'm glad they didn't do a minor update as it saves me the effort.

An expansion would be the dream right now!

Given they're back in the game a re-do of Genestealer would be fantastic.

Yep. I'd pre-order that in an instant. More hybrid minis + More Space Hulk = WIN.

I got the 2014 edition of Space Hulk, and even bought a spare which I still have yet to open, so I'm good on the core set. But even if GW decides Space Hulk is their McRib and only rolls it out around Christmas every couple of years, I think it's a good thing.

Updates of the tiles from those two expansions, especially the ones from Genestealer (which I own two of 'cause of those tiles) would be amazing.

One expansion would be enough I guess as most of the rules and 4 missions from Deathwing are in the 3rd/4th edition and the extensive psychic stuff from Genestealer is unnecessary.

But I doubt they'll do an expansion at all - maybe some rules in WD for some of the GSC models and an update of the two Genestealer missions.
