So got some work done today. Still blocking in basecoats. Kinda pissed at younger me. Lots of mold lines I never cleaned up before I primed them. Noticing a lot of flaws with the sculpts in general. Soft detail, and things that should be undercut/done in more parts, but ended up just a block of plastic.

So I’m not really enjoying this project. Going to try to see it through though. Just a bit of a slog.

@Nevelon: I usually try to hide the mold line with paint... failing that, I hit the mold lines with an exacto or a dab of liquid greenstuff if they are in a noticeable spot after I start painting. I am too anal to leave it alone usually.

Tyranid Spore Mine Cluster (Finished) Actually completed them days ago,but had problems taking pics due to random blurriness, weird orange glows, weird red glows, lack of sunlight, and other annoying environmental factors,
Learned a couple of things with these creepy bio bombs they look cooler than expected, thought they would be really dull, they paint up stupidly fast and the ease of painting was a welcome change, would like more mines but the pricetag is stupid, maybe if i find an alternate source not GW,Pop By my Blog/Lab to see the other Spore Mine Cluster,The Exploding Mines.

Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Got a bit of assembly done:

I think I should have started on a smaller, less complex kit for my first Arena Rex build. This one is really souring me on Red Republic's casting quality as it is taking significant preparation time. It has many pieces with fine details fastened to a resin sprue by comparatively huge gates. The leg she is standing on is badly warped. I used the hot water method to readjust and then put a .8mm rod up through her heel to her knee. Hopefully this will keep her from drooping, but I am not confident. There are chunks of resin obscuring detail in several areas where the original mold failed which will need resculpting, and lots of mold slip on the legs. Lots of joint filling needed at the arm sockets.

Here's my proof pic for this month. Varag Ghoul-Chewer, Orc Blood Bowl Star Player.

I took the pic nearly two weeks ago, before I went on holiday. I did a bit of painting while I was away, and have now nearly finished him, actually. It's the first Forge World miniature I've ever painted, weirdly.

Holy Sh*&, you've opened my eyes and just blew my mind...thanks SlavetoDorkness!
Why have I never thought of this for Frostgrave!?

Plenty of great stuff this month...
Awesome job on the wing, Guildenstern. If the rest is as good your'e gonna have a seriously intimidating entry.
Great model, keezus - can't wait to see your awesome work on it.
Melcavuk - another really impressive model!
Nice nads, I mean nids, Smallchanges.

Haven't had much time to paint at all but good luck to everyone - it's shaping up to be another tough month.
