I'm too lazy to actually edge highlight the damn thing so a dry brush will have to do.

Looks fine to me. Drybrushing is how I do the vast majority of my edge highlights. I have trouble keeping my work neat enough to do any kind of precision edge highlights the other way.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 21 | Current main painting project: Warhammer 40k Leviathan set

This.

Tanks give themselves insanely well to drybrushing, so it's usually not even worth the immense effort of doing it the other way.

I'd say your space ork is the better of the two.

Dance: lookin' good on the goff. Especially like the recreation of the position and background of the old book pic-had to give it several looks to tell them apart.

I pushed hard last night, got the gator to "just needs base", though considering some varnish first.

I'm finished (I've actually been finished for a while, except for the blood on the swords/axes, but I've been waiting for a lightbox to arrive).
These old sculpts aren't the standard we see now, but I love that little goblin model!

Great work from everyone else so far!

Not really been commenting much recently, so...
@Zobo - love the diorama. That goblin looks like a right mischievous little fella!
@Elbows - great generic beastie!
@Guildenstern - that dragon's looking great, but looks like a hell of a lot of work!!
@SmallChanges - love the smoothness of the finish.
@El-T - that disc looks great. Looking forward to the finished models!
@Dance - I'm an oldhammer guy, so loving the 2nd ed Goff. My bro still fields those in some games!

Looking forward to voting this month!

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)

@Whittlesey40k - they turned out real nice ...man...there's just something about those old sculpts isn't there?...I mean, technically speaking, they've got nothing on the newer sculpts, but somehow they just have an entirely different degree of character

Old School is best school. That is all. Nice classics in this thread! And some nice new stuff as well. Looks to be a fun month.

Done with my painting, but need to set up the lightbox for pics. Hopefully get that done sometime next week; going to be busy this weekend.

Lost a lot of momentum on this project, but saw it through. No idea when the last 3 guys are going to get paint, and I still have more to build. But from an AoS POV, I’m the only guy with a Death army in the area, so I like to show the flag there on the table. Not a lot of push to polish up my chaos for the field.

Still feels a little good to get these guys off the back of the bench; they’ve been staring at me for a good number of years now.

Just checking in... the sculpt is going reasonably well, just taking a tremendous amount of time. All that's left is to do is finish the lower jaw and fit it w/ some nasty teef. And clean up the stikkbommz which I'm now wishing I had done before I got all excited about the progress I was making and just glued them in there.

I feel like basing this guy properly will make all the difference in the world and I haven't even started on the base yet. In the (likely) event that I finish the sculpt but don't manage to get any paint on him by the end of the month, I'm going to take a page out of Bottle's playbook and suggest the following themes for next month's comp:

1. Squiggly Beasts
2. It Came from Da Drops!
3. KaBlaam!

I also plan on doing a step-by-step on my P&M blog, so if you're interested in the process, keep an eye out for that; probably this weekend some time (?)

they're looking great already man! love the tankbusta bomb hats

also, regarding themes for next month, yeah, I'd be in favour of some kind of "explosive" theme too...really kinda need to get both some tankbustas, and rokkit launcha deffkoptas painted up...
