Also here is the Original FF8 Gameplay. I agree, these things are COMPLETELY IDENTICAL.

I played the PC release of FFVIII. It apparently had better quality graphics than the Playstation version did. That's why the remastered trailer doesn't really look different from what I remember. There are likely improvements over the old PC version. But they aren't noticeable enough to register when comparing it with my memory of the PC version.

But meh...

...

Whatever...

The soundtrack timing alone is the best of any game.. For example the music that rolls when you first step out onto the world map out of midgar realy captures the wonderlust...

Best example is when Cloud is telling everyone about Nibelheim when they reach Kalm. When you wake up on the bed in the Shinra mansion and the only sound is the heartbeat and bell of Sephiroth's theme. You are walking through this empty house and down into the basement with nothing but that heartbeat and bell. You find Sephiroth in the basement, hearing his laughter before you see him. He tells you of his heritage, the music disappears, and then, at the moment he tells you that he is going to see his mother, the choir kicks in. Spine tingling.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"

I didn't even know they made an empire earth 3. I jumped off the RTS ship shortly after empire earth 2 when I discovered Galactic Civilizations 2. It's still weird to me that Stardock games create random desktop and office software to subsidize their game development.

I've been watching more E3 trailers. What are the thoughts on Deathloop? I was sold on the tone and style of the trailer.

Totally overlooked the John Romero game, "Empire of Sin". Its been too long since hes really put his name to something and...well, I guess it needs a butchers.

Nothing on his other game, Blackroom. That looked interesting...

The game is like 22 years old. That's before the internet, tolerance, gay rights, outrage culture and a whole other bunch of cultural changes that have happened. Quite frankly a lot of old content is a bit cringy by todays society standards. I mean wall market 'busy bees' and Dons place... how could they put that in a modern game.?

The Corneo bit was....yeah.....but I do hope the remake incorporates some of the funnier stuff from the original rather than going with the expanded universe trends of Sephiroth fanservice and Cloud being mopey. There was a Twitter thread of wacky things that people wanted to see again, including--

--Cid getting really passionate about people sitting down and drinking their tea!
--Red impersonating a human soldier.
--"It's because of that #%$! pizza that people underneath are suffering!"
--Snowboarding.
--SATAN SLAM
--Tifa and Scarlet having a slap fight on the Mako Cannon.
--Hojo chilling at the beach.
--The haunted hotel.
--Cait Sith making a heroic, tearjerking sacrifice and being replaced two minutes later.
--Sephiroth blowing up the solar system twice in the same fight.
--The squats contest.
--Vincent turning into Jason Voorhees.
--Being attacked by wandering houses in Midgar.
--Cloud saying "let's mosey" before the final battle.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

Yeah, some of FF7's charm is in being both comical and serious, at the right times. Personally, I don't see the 90s comical part translating well into this more realistic vision. Apparently they will keep the hilarious brothel scene( Cloud in drag ) but the almost chibi-look of the original allowed for that. Many 90s anime would switch to chibi-form when doing something stupidly hilarious( Dragon-Half, "I DONT LIKE CHEESY CWACKERS!!!" ) yet FF7 was mostly in that mode anyway.

We could be in for a suprise though, and they could pull it off magnificently.
