To be fair, it'll be much easier for a "street team" to function when the game is actually in hand.

I agree, but if there was an active group of WWX users after the kickstarter that were here during the kickstarter, Alph wouldn't have to be the one to post the updates.

I don't mind post updates so much, as I am interested in the game.
I'm just not so happy about the somewhat transparent motivations, so to speak, *during* the Kickstarter and comparing it to the activity now, well after the Kickstarter.
Oh well!

Yep, so long as the minis are fine it's all good pretty much. If the rules are good too that's just a bonus. As far as Kickstarters go, we can't complain much about WWX given the range of problems others have faced. Speaking of the rules, have they been playtested? Deadzone rules sounded really good and people seemed to enjoy them, so that's some steep skirmish scale competition landing at a similar time.

I haven't seen (nor have I looked too hard) much on the rules.
I know Alfndrate isn't a fan of one of the key mechanics, but other than that...
...good question!
I'd like to read some reviews of the rules!
One of my main questions was about how important vehicles are in the game.
I didn't like the look of many/most, so I didn't get any.
I wonder if I'm going to be at a big disadvantage because of this?
Probably not.
A bigger question is going to most liekly be how easy/hard will it be to find opponents near me!

Also, I'd prefer less 'rivets for rivets sake' on the models. The resin cowgirl I got at AdeptiCon has some minor issues with it, but it's a fantastic western model and I need to find it. The Sheriff they had at GenCon was an awesome looking model, but his stupid goggles killed it for me.
A bigger question is going to most liekly be how easy/hard will it be to find opponents near me!
I'd liken it to finding an Infinity opponent near you, but probably worse (no offense)

None taken!
It is hard enough to find INFINITY players near me - and that's with the explosive growth that game has experienced the last two years.
I expect that finding WWX players near me to be...infinitely more difficult!

Same basically, no vehicles here... although I grabbed some outlaw bikes, to convert to SM jetbikes since they looked great for that purpose. None for the WWX game itself though. Trikes, trains etc. not my thing. Stylishy posed outlaws or evil genius cyborgs, count me in though ; )
Yeah WWX got 1/4 of the backers that Deadzone did so games might be difficult. Did you get two armies so you can force someone else to play one of them at gunpoint? I only got Outlaws so I'm pretty boned in that regard too.

@Alpharius I have not looked on google maps, but if your near the Manchester NH area I expect you will be able to find a fair number of players. There is a solid core of playtesters and players there due to the proximity to Craig Gallant (the fluff writer for the game).
As for models in the game, I can only go on what I have heard via rumors. I am waiting for the rules to show up to really sit down and try to play out some games. In the interviews I did I asked about the viability of "true skirmish" (i.e. 6-10 models) vs the "larger skirmish" (i.e. 15 - 20 models plus vehicles) that was mentioned. As a Malifaux player, I prefer smaller skirmish games with characters. The response I got was that those games using just a Boss, underboss, and some sidekicks (the characters essentially) were very viable. Many of the initial lists I am seeing discussed on the WWX boards are also at this level, with maybe 2-3 hired hands tossed in.
I expect to see a fair number of games at both this level (characters) and at the next level up (characters, 10-15 hires hands and 1-3 bikes/vehicles). I suspect the "army scale" game of multiple vehicles, many bikes, and 30+ hired hands will be the more rare game.
That said, until the game starts picking up we won't really know.
If you have not listened and your up for listening to a podcast, the latest WWX interview I did is on Gamers Lounge episode 79 and there are list discussions on the new Good, Bad, Enlightened podcast episode 2. The hosts of GBE got an early PDF of the final rules and talked about those briefly on their episode #1.

So here's a brief review I did of the first few models:
http://thethirstygamerdotcom.wordpress.com/2013/05/23/miniature-review-wild-west-exodus-sheriff-mic-ironside/
I have a follow up coming of the Sheriff and Kyle that I got from GenCon. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I've played about 4 games with the primary designer, and the mechanics are fairly similar to Warmahordes. There are a few differences (not all of your models will always activate on your turn) and there's a gambling mechanic that is what I'm assuming Alf doesn't like. I thought it was pretty thematic, honestly, in that you can gamble (Wild West style) before your turn to potentially boost your turn. Thinking of it in Warmahordes terms, you're basically boosting a damage roll before you know if the damage roll hit.
I think the game is going to pretty fun, and I think it's going to have some of the best minis on the market. I don't know if that means it will supplant anything, but I think they're going to be realatively successful.
While Romeo isn't one of the main people involved with the project, he is an investor. And say what you will about the guy (I like him a lot), but you can't say he's a poor businessman.

Thought this was interesting and I wanted to share it over here on Dakka. There is an ongoing discussion on the WWX boards about the cost of entry into the game for people who were not involved in the kickstarter. This was posted by Romeo.
Sorry if we forgot to post this information before. We actually already have plans to release a 2 player starter box for the retail launch next month. Once the KS goes out we will fully support the stores by giving them a down and dirty two army box set. They will have the following.
Outlaws vs Lawmen
Union vs Warrior Nation
Later next year
Holy Order vs Enlightened
Cost will be $124.99
Each starter will have the following.
2x (1 set for each faction)
Boss
Underboss
Sidekick
10 Hired Hand Sprue
3 Light Support (2 vehicles and 1 Hired Hand)
1 Mini Rule Book
1 Quick Start Sheet
1 Template Set
Value $250
This will be made available on the website and to retailers in just a couple weeks. We also plan on putting different models in the 2 player starter then the normal starter.
Hope that helps fellas.
I am intrigued to see which bosses end up in the box and will be watching to see how these hit my local community.

So it's coming with 2 mini rulebooks, 2 quickstart sheets and 2 template sets?
Interesting, I think that looks like a really good deal, but 125 is still a lot of money to get into an untested/unproven game. Hell Dark Vengeance is from a proven/tested game and company and I feel that it's 120 price tag is too much. I realize that the value is good, but I'd almost prefer a 125 value for 75 bucks instead.

I wish there were more updates for this thing... Oh well! Some previews, links and whatnot: Marvin Cunningham (Mercenary) (Warrior Nation) White Buffalo (Underboss) (Lawmen/Union) Col. Carl Fredrickson (Sidekick) Shipment Update: Re: THE BOAT IS LEAVING CHINA!!!!!!!! Unread postby Outlaw » Mon Oct 14, 2013 2:14 pm Here is what I have so far today. The new boat is called the Cosco Japan. Seems the boat name we got before was for a different container from Wargames Factory. Again, they are not our publisher they just shared a container with us because we only took up 1/2 the container with our WWX stuff. The reason the boxes have wargames factory on them is because they shipped out of the same production facility and we do not have custom boxes yet. I did check the name Cosco Japan on the boat tracker and it says "out of range". this could mean it sank to the bottom of the ocean or it is in the middle of nowhere in the pacific ocean and out of range. Seems weird since we have space equipment able to take pictures of terrorists taking a bathroom break but can't find a giant silver boat in the middle of the blue ocean. I'm on this right now to make sure the China connection has the boat name right and we can get an official tracking number for the container. Stay tuned guys. Someone will be killed if we don't get the info asap. Don't worry I have several Dark Council members with me on this investigation. Heads will roll. Heavy Support Rules: Link to some nice terrain for WWX: http://site.urbanlasercraft.com/blog/2013/09/24/alternate-history-wild-west-buildings-available/ Alternate History Wild West Buildings Available We are super excited to announce another new product line from UrbanLasercraft LLC. Our “alternate history” Wild West buildings which are compatible with Wild West Exodus* and other Wild West games. Like many people out there we pledged very heavily for WWX and it is coming out soon. But, we needed to bling out our tables so this is just the beginning! Stable, town hall, more stores, more buildings are all in the works including a whole slew of props and fences to really add some flare to your table. So saddle up, get your trusty plasma six shooter and rule main street with a new sort of justice! We are offering two kits to start, 3 single story buildings with two roof types and 2 two story buildings. Each roof is removable for gameplay inside and the roof has a steel plate decking pattern. In addition to this, various signs are available in an acrylic “neon” to add a little more flare to the building. Each of these are laser cut from MDF and require assembly and painting. Overboss Sheriff Alpha is back, this time with an Official Update!
Update #140
Oct 16, 2013
Two Exciting Bits of New
Comment
2 likes
As you all know we plan on being totally different then other miniature companies. With that said what would help us stand out and at the same time really give back to our fans, customers, and backers of course. We wanted to create something that helped everyone feel like they are part of the team. We wanted our fans to feel like family and not just wallets with cash hanging out of them.
I today's world of business it seems that customers have lost trust in the manufacturers. Customers buy their minis but do it with a smaller smile then in years past. Higher prices, a down economy, and just life keeps getting in the way of most hobbies. For that reason our creative staff have sat down and really looked at how best to stay in business but also give back. By give back we mean all the time and not just for a big sale or for some gimmick event.
Below are two very cool programs we will start on January 1st 2014 in just a few months. We think you guys will like what we came up with and will help give back but also keep everyone involved in the growth and drive of Outlaw Miniatures and Wild West Exodus.
In Jesse We Trust!
Program 1 - "The $5 Monthly Model" The $5 monthly model is a simple idea. Every month on the first of the month starting with January 1st we will release a mystery model that will always be locked in at the low price of $5. These models will be created in limited amounts of 1000 and never made again. They will range from characters, to terrain, to bits packs. These items will also range in size and may be a huge model one month like Geronimo or something simple as 10 head options for an Iron Horse rider. The point is that you will never know what will come out next. Since they will be limited they will only grow in value as the game gets bigger and people grab up the models on launch day. More details and the first sneak peek of the January 1st $5 monthly model will be available via our facebook page and home page in the coming months.
Program 2 - "Fan Created Models" We had such an awesome experience creating the models for The Wraith, Sasha Tanner, and Cunningham that we had to do it again. The fan created models program works like this. Every quarter we will put out a survey on our main home page. Anyone can log in and vote as long as they enter their email address. On the survey will be a variety of questions regarding a character that has not yet been created. As fans and customers of WWX you can fill out the survey and watch the voting live as you submit your entry. The voting will go on for 30 days and once it is over the voting is locked. Our creative team then looks over the surveys and voting statistics and begins creation of that model over the next 30 days. The final fan created model then ships to retailers first and everyone gets to purchase it while supporting the LFGS.
An example of some of the questions you may see are below.
1. What type of model would like us to make? A) Boss B) Underboss C) Sidekick D) Lightsupport E) Heavy Support
2. What faction would you like us to create this model? A) Outlaws B) Warrior Nation C) Lawmen D) Enlightened E) Union
3. What name would you like to see for this character? A) Historical in nature B) Fictional in nature
4. What weapons would this model use? A) Shotgun B) Gatling Gun C) Rail Gun and so on and so on .......
Each of the questions for the surveys will have very detailed information allowing the customer to really detail out the new character. Along with the multiple choice options we will have a notes section at the bottom that allows you to make additional suggestions regarding your choices and how you see them playing out in the in the world.
It's a very accurate way of giving all of our fans total control of how the future of Wild West Exodus will shape one model at a time. We hope you like these really cool ideas and take part in what we have to offer. We thank you again for helping Outlaw Miniatures come to life and for the continued support all of you have showed us.
Outlaw Team
The '$5 monthly model' sounds interesting - I wonder if they'll set up a 'subscription service' for it, or something similar?

I had the exact opposite reaction. Maybe because I am outside the US... but why would I want to spend 15$ (shipping is a pain) on a single mini order worth 5$... unless I was playing on giving them a slice of my paycheck every month from the get-go?

TL;DR: Clarifying shipping.. but it's progress! I recall being a little irritated at no confirmation of the order initially, but the invoice they sent is correct which is nice. Dear Customer, Your invoice receipt is attached for your Wild West Exodus pledge. Please confirm that all items on this receipt are correct. Please also confirm that we have an accurate shipping address. If any corrections need to be made, please reply to this email as soon as possible. There is no need to reply if the information is correct. Please note that NO changes may be made to your order at this time. We just want to confirm accuracy prior to shipping. Thank you again for your support! We appreciate it very much. Sincerely, Outlaw Miniatures, LLC www.wildwestexodus.com 480-389-4857

When your done reading the book there is a review of the book with the author on the Gamers Lounge book review segment ( No Gamer Left Behind #7). If you enjoy podcasts this is pretty good, with a review at the start then a pause and spoiler warning, then some spoilers and plot discussion for the remainder of the segment. It's a little over an hour but lots of great info.
I strongly recommend not listening past the spoiler section until you read the book however......
