Ornstein and Smough. I think I did better earlier on because I was more intimidated and played conservatively. I started playing more reckless and losing the whole time, then started summoning and kept playing reckless, and now I'm sort of mentally regrouping.
I think if I am patient and careful enough I can solo them. Got Str and Dex 24, End and Vit 25, decent armour, a plus 10 halberd and the grass crest shield, havel's ring and the ring of favour and protection. I think it's a pretty solid setup and I just needa play bettah.
Any hints would be appreciated though! Thinking of going for Smough first, then hiding behind pillars and sniping Ornstein with a bow.

Good luck I could never make it past them. I did the rogue loadout so it didn't take much to die. They do generally signal what attack they're doing though so keep watching them as you run from em. Oh and I have the PC version of the game so as was said the targeting switched from each a ton.
In general, always go for Ornstein first. Smough is very slow and can be avoided by running away, but Ornstein will stick to your butt with his better agility. The exact order in which you choose to take them on is only important for the soul which you get - but since all boss weapons in DS are trash, take the easy route.
Take light or medium armor, with Havel's Ring you should be fine. Never get Fat Roll, always aim to be less encumbered, rolling is vital in Dark Souls, even in STR builds.
With Ornstein himself, cower behind your shield and try to get to his side, strike 1-2 times, then get some distance to Smough (who will have come closer) and let your stamina recover; repeat. Remember to use the pillars, even when destroyed, they provide cover and enough time to take a sip of your healing vial. Once you got Ornstein down, the battle is over, Smough can be easily dodged even in his lightning-imbued form. Your best bet in Phase I is to try to get Smough stuck behind a pillar so you can fully focus on Ornstein.
Trash is an overexaggeration, but simply put, they are worse than normal weapons. Artorias can be useful, but since he is DLC, you won't have his soul yet. Maybe even Sif for the Greatshield, but I'd rather rock Havel's.
Apart of those two, boss souls are worthless though unless you go for very specific builds.
DS1 is very playable w/o a controller on PC. There are two awesome fan mods that not only make the game look awesome, but also enable good controls. I finished the game 2 times with KB+M before getting a controller
DS2 is an okay game, but it is far from being as good as the first one.
I did it! I beat fatty and skinny! Solo! Wow, that is a rewarding feeling.
Just played it conservative and careful, hugged the pillars like they were my mother, and waited for my moment.
Finished it with 1 heal left and no estus flasks. Phew. Glad to be pretty much finished with Anor Londo. Lovely zone, but christ was it difficult. Had a run around the catacombs directly afterwards. Pretty fun! I'm liking the skelingtons.
Been playing a lot of Mount and Blade recently. "Accidentally," provoked a war between the Kergits and the Nords, but hey, just means more opportunity for merciless pillage slaughter. Apparently, being the bad guy in this game is very rewarding.
Also looking into Ghost Recon. A friend of mine showed it to me years ago and it looked pretty fun, but I was not used to FPS games at the time. Is it any good?

Mount and Blade ate my life for months last year. I played it with the Brytenwalda mod and had an absolute blast conquering the 6th century british isles. Awesome game. Still have to play the napoleonic expansion!

Brytenwalda mod? Never heard of that one. Though it looks like an interesting Dark Ages mod, and it appears people are comparing it to the viking DLC. Have you heard of Warsword Conquest? It's based in the WHFB world and it actually features the other races, as well as firearms and mounts that aren't horses. Just a heads up for the Napoleonic mod though. It's a mod that only works for multiplayer, so if you were planning on doing single player, this may not be the expansion you were looking for. There is however a mod called L'Aigle that does have Napoleonic fighting, but it also has single player.

I saw a WFB mod, but one thing I didn't like was that it was a leeeettle bit immersion breaking that you could basically recruit from any faction. So you could have skeletons fighting alongside skinks and so on.
But I might check it out one of these days. Getting my WFB kicks from the Warhammer Quest app now.
I still really like Prophesy of Pendor, as it adds a little bit of fantasy back in what with noldor/elves and just unreasonably powerful armor and weapons (but they're by no means common or easy to get, basically the player the elf race and the strongest of the strong badguys/bosses) even if it does make the game take what I would think is *even longer* to reasonably finish. It does have an end condition as opposed to Native (which does not), but you've gotta wipe everyone out and that would take ages.
I had a lot of fun just pumping up my dude's personal power by horse archer soloing entire forces of the enemy, (certain unit types make this virtually impossible) albeit modestly sized ones. Then I found the god-bow thing, upgraded it with one of those rare gems, and so on. If I ever get back to that save (if it's on steam I'm good, if it's on that old laptop that got pilfered..not so much) after 6 levels or 1-2 more qualis gems my dude would be able to equip the strongest armor and further his ridiculousness. Then he just needs to go back to the keep and get his almost-as-ridiculous order of the dragon knights and cause a ruckus.
Even with all of that though, he's nowhere near winning, I think I may have erred in having him get so ingratiated with one faction because it will probably be hard to actually overthrow that guy. Plus the rage/hate and get out of those castles that are technically yours but also ours rawr type stuff.
Still pokemoning on the phone, trying to find something tablet/tabtop friendly for when I have slightly higher quality game time but drawing blank.
I started out as Pagan brigand, and insulted a bishop, which well, it didn't work out that well (pretty much EVERYONE in Ireland is christian).
So I was sort of relegated to raiding from the hills for ages. Then I eventually built up enough of a band of cut throats to take the fort closest to my hometown in the South East of Ireland.
I didn't realise I needed Right to Rule or how to get it at the time, so pretty much every faction dogpiled me. I managed to hold out in an epic series of seiges where I was holding the walls myself for a lot of it, and then they gave up long enough for me to recover.
I held on there long enough to gradually expand, gaining new recruits and finally took the capital of the province.
It was incredibly bloody and I nearly lost everything several times, but I managed to gradually expand my control through Ireland and start converting the populace to pagan and burning all the monasteries.
Once I'd conquered all of Ireland, the various factions in Britain had decided I was a problem and I started getting invaded, so I launched a counter invasion to "secure my borders". Cue a long running war of attrition as I gradually conquered all of Britain to stop the bastards from trying to overthrow my kingdom in Ireland.
Been zooming around in space with my Orks, and plundering while occationaly getting roflstomped by a passing Imperial or spikey marine fleet.
Looking forwards to the release of the Eldar thougth, As they seem like a good challenge

I really can't afford to get hyped for that game just yet. Sounds fun.

Playing Torchlight II with fire mage.
It is highly amusing to play, although Ork ships suffer from a distinkt lack of long range fire power. But once you get close to your foes its all good. Have had a few crashes with it, but since its the beta I realy dont find them troublesome.

Might try out Ranked soon enough.
Ranked's great it's a nice step up but not overly challenging that it's discouraging and you've got the added bonus of not being shoot by you're own team mates because they think it's funny
Still playing Dark Souls. The 4 and dead-head have bitten the dust now.
To anyone who quit in Anor Londo, I totally understand why. But you should try and get through it - the difficulty actually drops down to a more reasonable level afterwards! The last two bosses were far, far easier than Fatty and Skinny.
I've been playing more SMITE. Gave Artemis a try. She's pretty good, if a bit fragile for my liking. I've found Loki to be a real pain in the you-know-what whenever I face him. He's just ridiculous in the hands of a skilled player (which I am definitely not).
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
Grotsnik Corp. Sorry, No Refunds.
Alternating between Battle Brothers and BFG. I am also about 200 exp away from level 80 In Red Orchestra which means that I can finally unlock veteran level classes after a paltry 234 hours.....
SO right now what I really want is a game that just allows you to hoard immense amounts of items and money and jems.
Does anyone know a decent game where I'd be able to hoard loot in a payaday 2 style vault or something? I guess I'm looking for a game where I can just have a huge treasure room filled with gold and gems and armor and weapons.
