Meh everyone has different tastes Jackal, I listen to everything from 50's swing, RnB (thats rhythm and blues, not that moden gak using the same initials), Rock, Rap, Metal, Dance, Industrial, hardcore, and even classical music. It's good to be different ^_^

er... if you listen to almost everything...how can you be different? just asking in a totally inocent and polite way ^^

at jackal... had a look already...

but i think you need to explain what i am seeing there as i didn´t understood the glowy effect quite well...

so...

need your help as i said... this is already the thrid instalment of hannibal now... and i am still not really satisfied with the scheme for the basecoats...your turn then...

coat is now vermin fur and black trimmings...or better black inside...

the white trousers...red jacket... black hat...black boots...

and then the issue about the bended brush... this is it.... and i have to say... i love that thing... makes painting for my somehow way more easier... i need to experiment with an old brush now if i am able to bend it too...

cheers, vik

Vik, i assume that brush is angled upwards while using it so the strokes are more natural rather than the bristles having to bend.
That should give it a far cleaner stroke each time.
Also, its bloody good for getting to hard to reach areas on a model.
I own 2 of them (ultra fine and standard) and i swear by them for most things.
Also, since its a far more natural stroke and not a forced drag, they dont leave any brush marks on the paint, even if you havent thinned it prior to using it.
Great for large areas of armour or long flowing cloaks.

jackal... my thoughts exactly on that brush! i simply fell in love with that one... i know the shop has a bigger sized one too in their range... i will get that soon too... to good to refuse... the painting motion is as you discribed it way more natural for me...and i can do way pre precises strokes with it too...

Its amazing how something as simple as a bend in a brush makes it soo much better.
You would have thought that it would have been a common place brush to use now, but i guess not :(

I also use a deluded S7 rubber brush which is pretty damn good, well, was before the company went bust lol.
Still going after 5 years
Simply a normal brush, but rather than bristles it has a rubber point.
The rubber draws up paint like a normal brush, but it has less flex in it, meaning for edging and lining its amazing.

aye... it is most vexing that you don´t know so many ineresting questions to ask for... the answers for these could make ones live so much better....

are we talking here about a paintshaper... that mostly nowadays gets used for GS sculpting? if you have a pic... or a link of a pic i would be most grateful!

Cant find a full pic, but here are the tips of them:

The shapers are a bit more rigid and tend to damage it rather than apply it.

took a look and i see only in your description the difference between paintshapers and rubber tipped brushes... but i take your word for it^^

If You want him to look like a Redcoat, then you are going to HAVE to give it the same scheme as real Redcoats!

White also works.

ooh, I like the sound of a rubber-tipped brush and a bend brush... any chance of links?

Jackal wrote:Music, hmmm, i think i have a different taste to anyone else here on that subject

Oh?

I very much like early 70's through early 90's rock and roll, heavy metal, hard rock and rock specifically (70's Led Zeppelin through to 90's Metallica), but also some more different stuff- I don't mind blues rock or some classical every so often. I think the majority of tabletop gamers tend to like rock, or similar sub-genres, which I always thought slightly odd seeing as in most other respects, we're quite diverse...

The brown still has some primer showing through, looks like another coating is needed?

Maybe a slightly lighter brown so the shading can begin to be built up.

the brown was meant only as a basecoat really... in fact i intened to get the coat mostly done with devlan mud later on... do you think the shining through primer might be problematic...

and the real trouble i have with the vest and the pants... somehow this looks dull... on this mini at least.. standard cadian i think it looks cool tho...

A bit of both i think
Allways liked the flamers of tzeentch models, however, i need a daemon prince of tzeentch model.

So, im going to make a massive flying flamer of tzeentch from scratch lol, so a ton of framework and GS.

The real trick will probably be figuring out when to stop adding to it before it becomes to big. Otherwise no planning needed whatsoever, just do it.

And if i have base framework, i have a pre-set size then lol.

will it be more muscle-y or more firey? could be both too... of course... made any sketches yet?

Flamers have no set form so I sort of expect it to make people turn mad just by looking at it.
