I went with a more basic paint job for my Ada, she's wearing a beret in RM green to spite my friends for "one shot paddy" jokes they made during the painting process.

I know people have said the Mule will be a 'fun' build, but how hard was it really?

I have a couple of the accessory sets and have been thinking of a couple of ways to build the Mules. How did you do yours?

legs are the only tricky thing since they are very small, but I built both legs on each side starting from the hull down, that way I could ensure they all were equal and the model was balanced, other than that I just followed the instructions.

I really enjoyed building these models, and the look great , will be doing a bit of conversions with the next batch, see how much I can modify the stances and such.

@soo'vah'cha great looking paint job, keep it up. Will you be doing a leviathan in a similar pattern?

Naw, as cool as the leviathan is, its not my cup of tea, a little to gothic for me. (gorgeous model though)

I have a weakness for the more practical military look, but when dreamforge makes some tanks or apcs I will be all over those.

But if I was to do a leviathan I would do a skyline camo pattern, use my ambush scheme and have it change over into a grey-ish horizon splinter camo around mid section level..since its such a tall model.

Would be a fairly complex paint job, but I think if executed right would be pretty cool.

Thanks for the compliments as well, its very much appreciated.

Love the paint job. It makes me wish I could do anywhere near as good, alas...

We're also going to have start keeping notes on how people work the shoulder pads; do they do it the way Mark intended, or are they cool young rebels who aren't going to be told what to do by "The Man." Not trying to belittle the fantastic work, just the number of people I've seen do the shoulders that way is interesting.

Under coat Nato green, red brown, desert yellow, with buff and tan for highlight drybrush..all Tamiya paints.

Not sure whats the shoulder difference, just seemed the way to put them on base on the pics.

May do some without, also working on doing a few prone conversions.

I use a lot of drybrushing, especially the base color over black, it produces a nice blended realistic look, and is very easy to churn out

I may work on a step by step tutorial if people would find that useful.

The way they were designed, the shoulders should have the 4 vents facing "out" instead of "up", and the flat side should be "in" and not "down"...if that makes any sense. Mark's post on the topic: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/660/503411.page#5332897

However, I don't think it looks bad to do it the other way; it just looks more GW-ish like a Marine shoulder pad which can be a pro or a con depending on your view of the aesthetic. I'll let my more than 4 battle companies worth of GW Marines of various stripes speak to my personal opinion on that though.

I would be very interested in seeing some prone conversions, especially if you wouldn't mind showing some "in progress" shots.

Here are two of mine with Kromlech Plasma Riles.

I'm worried that the plasma gun looks too huge in relation to the Dreamforge rifles. I might switch them out for the Paulson games plasma riles I just ordered, and put up comparison pics when I get those.

Figured I'd throw this in here. It's got the arms I'm using for adepticon and because of the lock system they are removable so I can swap them out which is awesome. I'm also building up the base a bit to increase the height. Knee pads are still off for painting. I was suprised at the posability but learned alot in my first outing. Gonna pick up a Mortis when they are generally available

I left the shoulder pads and backpack off my Ada...just liked the mini better that way...but then Im getting burned out on shoulder pads...the recent gaming trend for bigger and bigger has gotten silly.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)

I've pondered leaving the backpacks off before, but now that you say that it does seem to make sense that the pads off would look good with the "slighter" look as well.

As I said earlier the big pads don't bother me, though I agree they've almost become a trope of wargaming...

Holy crap! That looks pretty sweet!

On a side note, I'll be on the lookout on ebay in a few months, for those who just couldn't make the new Tau codex work. I have an impulse to pick up a bandwaggoner's Riptide battlesuit to be the curbstomp recipient for one of my Mortis Levis.

That's so wrong but I guess it's better than adding GW bits to the kit.

The plan is to have it painted this weekend Got a bit of work to do yet on the conversion and the base and then it's off to the races.

@Theophony

It's what I bought it for But I've made sure it'll still be usable for Marks game.

Think that's about as much as we know at the moment, but based on his "we'll make up some of the delay but not all of it" I'd wager they won't be on the water until May-ish.
