Well, I don't know what kinds of things your kids like Vik, but if you like fresh meat, I would suggest learing to snare rabbits. There are lots of great tuts on the web, and you don't need many supplies. I plan on trying this next time we go camping.

But if you are not into that sort of thing, you could try to catch a small animal live, in a box, and the kids can examine it.

other than that, you talked about taking tools, and maybe you could build a fort for them to play in.

well the hunting sounds good...tho i stop at the actual killing bit... i bet my wife and the kids would cry then...well for that matter even me...if it wasn´t so darn easy and tasty to get meat in the supermarket i probably would be a vegitarian already... i think i could never hunt an animal...but i really like eating meat...

but the hunting and then examining is a good idea... we even have a spyglass/cage thingy... we will take that with us...

and the fort idea... maybe it will be just something resembling a but i bet the kids will love this!^^

Yeah, I didn't know how you felt about stuff like that. Myself, I love all the tasty animals that nature provides!

I haven't eaten squirrel yet, but if I get one with my snares, it's going into the stew pot!

And really, it's not as hard to kill animals as you might think.

well... i still remember my granddad... he was at his shed in the garden and used slingshot out of a turn of mischief... and killed totally unexpected a small hazelmouse... the man was all tears... and mind you he survived the big war... and probably has seen much worse than a clean kill of a mouse... i bet i would be devasted by that too... but you have to take into account that in german you are usually not allaowed to carry any guns... so hunting is not a big sport here... so no hunting tradition could develope here... so unlike to the states...

but i do enjoy my meat! today i ate



dunno what it might be called in english... we call it "grillfackel" it is pork... twisted on a skewer... it was delicious... the last honor i had to pay to the late piggy^^


and i wouldn´t have any doubts or hesitations to kill a man... if he would be attacking my family or me... he would be toast almost instantly... asking questions later... shooting first

lol...max... what is roadkill stew? sounds a bit messy^^ but well there are some dishes that taste delicious and it isn´t really needed to know what it contains...

like commander vimes of the discworld novels used to say...: if you know the half of the contens of a dish it is safe to eat the other half too

i fall down again and started a sideproject... as my son will hopefully around christmas will be able to read a bit i think it is safe to dream about play with him a nice game of munda soon... so i need a table... and as i like my ideas to be quite non simple i am dreaming now of a modular table... some kind of sewer or dungeon look... made up from tiles... that can b aranged any old how... i will show you later on my early start in this endeavor... also the finished felix freedom fighters first squad and what else i am willing to share with you... take it as a for- now- farewell- party gift of mine ^^

first... many thanks for the nice wishes... neil, i have to check if we already have packed up some cards... good idea!

and well mates...

i did promise as a sort of fare well present you a new project... when i started this my son had a very happy glow in his eyes...!

so i today saw that my son was leafing through a comic book... and i have every confidence that learning to read will be with him rather quick... so as a form of encouraging him even firther than is own intrinsic motivation i began to build a game set for us to later play with...

the starter set will be looking like this... a kind of sewer and dungeon mix... modular tiles with walls... a bit like a self made space hulk board...

the plan/sketches



each tileunit is 7cm to 7cm the squares are in corner sections and longer double sections and finally single sections...
i used balsa wood plates that i cut into size and forms acordingly... this project really went from start to a recocnizable first form in a blurr... that never happened before... i am very high on motivation atm for this...
atfer i finished with the first lot of the needed tiles (note that the whole thing is endlessly expandable with lots of more options to the shaping of the tiles...heck even my son came up with the idea for bridges already!!!^^)

takes up around atm 50cm to 50 cm...








also note the felix freedom fighters "declared" finished first squad...
the leader of the pack and some other chums of his lot...





and then i started to work on some pink insulation foam to get the walls done... worked on two single tiles wallsections... one pure wall and one doorway...some small steps will help the models then to get through soon...






so what do you think...? i hope i can get my teeth into that project after our trip for good... i want to get it finished before i start working...

Ohhh Vik Terrain is gonna be AWESOME! -Carving brick is kind of fun isn't it?

actually carving bricks is as close as you can ever get to riveting without so much as ...wait for it...rivet anything^^

i used a pencil and an old carpet knife and also for means of keeping the bricks in a steady size some isesticks i collect... there exactly 0.5 cm thick and together with a thicker version that is 1cm thick i did these... once you start the times flies literally by...but i felt quite proud of myself... and the best part for this was... when i was in full swing of brick carving... my sond felix came to my side and sad... cool... they would look brilliant done in red and brownish tones... he really is such a cool son!!!!!! i must be doing something right^^

and dave... thank you very much ... i really apreciate that! the commander of the pack was kinda troublesome... i bet he is still not finished but i had to quit the work on these... tho i really like asurmen blue... that is a truly awsome wash...!!!

er... i think v.o.i.d. minis... but i am not sure anymore... got at least another squad of those still in a box... waiting to get their lick of paint... thanks RW...
