I'm not sure what to do with the Steampunk weapons, hand wise. I think I'll just sculpt some hands that can fit on them. Then the end user can just slip the hand onto the handle, and add a bit of glue.
You might want to make removable handles instead, with different hands attached to the handles. Or just let the customer cut off enough of the grip to put hands on. I have never had much luck with models that have weapons you glue into hands; it always looks like they are throwing a football shaped like a sword.
The arms are looking really good too! Well done!
And the pic with the Cadian head made me snort bacon into my sinuses. Thanks for that... That's going to hurt blowing out.

Those are indead the size I am looking for! I'm not seeing anything cheap on ebay though, I got the watch for $3.00 and free shipping, so I'll see what's in it. If it fails to deliver what I need, I'll got with the grab-bag!

Wehrkind - Sorry about the nose bacon, that doesn't like fun!
Removable handles, like make that area on the weapon easily removed and be able to replace it with the same part with a hand?
With the centaur arms, I am press molding them, and I will make several different poses of arms (straight, half bend and 90 degree bend). So far, I am keeping the upper arm where it connects to the shoulder rounded so you can position the arm how you want. Do you think that will work? It makes it look a bit awkward, so the end user will have to shave off a bit when they have the position they want. They might even need to use a bit of GS, but it will allow for a far greater number of poses than with just 3 different poses for each arm.
El Vic - No worries, show some pics when you can! I should have the power cells done by monday, and we'll see how they look.
I think the centaur arms might look OK for a "Redneck" themed IG unit! Maybe Vet seargents and such.

Yea, that should work pretty well. Ball and sockets work well even with musculature because it is pretty easy to GS the muscle line into the body to make it look good in my experience.
Also, sorry I neglected to send pics of arm poses I was talking about. By the time Angela gets home I completely forget :(
Yea, I am thinking for the pistols etc. you should either have a grip spot you can make a cut at to add to a hand like an IG model after you hack off the lasgun, or marine bolters, or have hands just molded on, possibly with gloved/bare/female/drag queen variants, like the space marine pistols and IG officer hands have. Those are often easier to work with.
If you wanted to be super fancy, and who doesn't, you could make a selection of left and right hands of various types holding the various handles, then have the guns have full handles. What could be done for the user is to either cut the gun to fit an existing model, leave it as is, or use the hands and just cut the handles of the weapon to accommodate the hand in the middle.

Thanks Dave! I missed that auction when I searched before! I just ordered it!
Wehrkind - Hmmmmm. Lots of hand options huh? Yeah, that could work.
Speaking of which, for the centaurs, you said you wanted the hands that looked like fists, but you could glue weapons or shields to them, right? Like if I sculpt them around a Styrene Rod, that should work right? I'm thinking the same thing as the arms, one hand holding a weapon (or whatever) perpendicular to the arm, one at a 45 degree angle and one pointing straight out from the arm.
Then there is the spear arm, you wanted that cocked back like they were ready thrust? (get your mind out of the gutter!)
El Vic - Yeah, I'm not a fan of limited choices when it comes to modeling.
So Vik, basically just plain arms that don't have the Cadian shoulder armor? And big gloves.

Funny how a misunderstanding -> arms on the guns -> big gloves on the hands with guns
the problem with the GW arms is 3 fold.
1) cadian arms are covered (sleeves) and have should pads -> annoying to people that dont want to be armoured (light infantry) or showing some flesh and bone (rolled up sleeves?)
2) Catachan arms are so large that the rest of the model looks disporportioned. Plus they arent He-man in space, there normal human beings with exterme bad-assery gone wrong
3) Arms that people like (mordian iron guard, Vostyrians, Tallern, Tanith, ect) all are unique PLAN human arms or just lightly armoured or in the case of Mordian have something to give them that extra....hummp that makes people go "yeah they look awesome!. All of which the cadians and catachan are lacking..
just my 2 cents. and my own views.
i'll get off my now

The Rocketeer is a cool look, esp. the uniform, I just don't like the masked helmet. It should be an open-faced helmet, sporting goggles and an enormous mustache IMHO.

I really like the steam punk weapons but my guard project is along way away and will be based on using Imperial Beastman, as in the old Rogue Trader style, please don't make me want to start it early .
I expect if they fit Catachans they would fit beastmen hands as well.
How about some Ogryn steam punk weapons?

Those clay shapers really are great, I compare it to an air brush for painting

Thanks again Red Corsair! I'll definately keep you in mind for questions!
@ Wehrkind - Yeah, but I rarely check my home email, so I actually get emails quicker at work, even on the weekends. Fortunately, I had to come in to work Saturday for a little bit anyway, so I did see the pics! Good stuff, most of the poses I had already started working on and they are similar to yours, but the spear one is the one I needed! Thanks!
Not a whole lot done this weekend, we have been looking for a new house, and we found one late last week, so we put an offer on it, with a contingency that we have to sell our house first. So we spent all weekend cleaning....there is still more to do, but it's good enough to go on the market today. I didn't think it was possible to do that much cleaning in 2 days! Plus we had to go to a Super Bowl party!
Anyway, I got started on the canisters for the rifles...
And I also started on the female human torso for the centaurs!
I would like to get more done tonight, but who knows what cleaning hell my wife put me though!

The canisters on the guns just look soo cool The female torso on the centaur looks a little out of portion to me, it looks slightly to small (as In not bulked out enough), for the size or the body.

The female torso will be bulked up, the resin part is mostly just like armature. Lots of detail left to put on her!

I would have kept looking if it didn't have a little somethin-somethin for Dear Ol' Daddy!
I'll have a whole room to myself! I want to put a long bench-style table on one wall, with a painting station at one end. The only drawback, is that it will also be the guest room. So when we have people visiting, I'll have to do something else.
But it does have a large work space in the detached garage too! So, when I get kicked out of my Den, I can at least do stuff out there! I might have my paint station out there instead. Lots of time to figure it out. It's not a done deal anyway, but it's hard not to start making plans!

Well, you live in Montana, so you have all four seasons, I'd HIGHLY recommend keeping your paint station inside where there is heat. If your paints and other hobby stuff like it freeze, they'll be ruined.

El Vic - Well, we don't have the house yet, but Hopefully!
I plan to ad some "structure" to the canister, but if I did diamond pattern, it would look like a grenade! Then again, that wouldn't be a bad thing.....
Dave - If I had my painting station in the garage, I'd keep my paints inside the house, but just go out there after I heated it up. I plan on getting a heater of some sort, just wouldn't have it on all the time.
For the cainsters, I still plan on making a "ring" around the center, and maybe some rivets, if it's not too small of an area.
