Hey gang.

I haven't been completely idle. Actually, I've been very busy working on cleaning up my studio, sorting, fixing and storing models. Spent some money getting proper foam trays to protect my models, etc. Also making a lot of plans and arrangements for Adepticon, as my entire family is showing up.

I did sneak a little bit of painting in. Found this little guy at the big game store in Madison (WI). Just a printed bit, but it painted up really nice. For Bushido obviously. Just spray-cans and washes, but for terrain... that works for me.

Nice work on the dragon.

I’m having trouble decided how to store/display/transport my own stuff. I kinda want to get a new display cabinet, but to make room I’d need to clear out a lot of old boxes full of junk. Or I could get more magnetic boxes to store. Or more foam and cases.

Clearing out the crap is probably the right answer, but also the most work.

Good luck clearing up your hobby space. Never an easy project.

Thanks Nev. I have a crazy amount of money in models, and a ton of money in foam cases for them. Luckily it's been spent over 35 years or more... so the pain at any one point is minimal.

My studio (which is very large) got to the point where it became emergency storage for whatever was lying about that needed to be "put away"... so I could hardly walk through it. I have a long way to go, but I'm working on it every day and making progress. At this rate, it should be fully useable in a month or so.

The big issue is that the floor needs to be re-done, which means emptying the room entirely. THAT is going to be a challenge.

Thanks Tommygun! Kind of you to say.

Well, I finally started painting one of my OG orks from the dark ages, as inspired by graven. Starting with the skin...

Thanks graven! You have indeed been the inspiration for this endeavor.

Here's the final project. Nothing spectacular, but not bad after a 3-year hiatus.

Thanks Olthannon!

OK, here's something substantial for a change. Trying to motivate myself by just painting some models I really like, as opposed to doing things I have to (for playing's sake). This little guy has been sitting in my display cabinet for years... just waiting for it's turn. Made by Kromlech (love those guys), and is an ork, jack-o-lantern, flying forcefield generator (apparently it's officially called a "field scrapdrone". Since I'm partial to Halloween... it was an obvious buy. I may get around to weathering and touching up the spheres... but for now, I'll let him be show-room-new... because... he is!

Chomp chomp! That looks like a lot of fun. I agree it could use a little weathering, but fine the way it is.

Thanks guys. @Nev... you know, where you're right, you're right. Here's the weathered drone. My camera set-up isn't great at the moment... but there is a fair amount of chipping, rust, dust and grime on it. Hope you like it. On to the next project!

Funny you should ask... I was going to pick out another old-school ork, and then something else... I still don't think I'm ready to go back to models that really matter. Need more practice.

This is what I picked out.. Just an old ork and a third party ork/grot carrying a big chest. Again, these are just practice pieces... trying to get my painting legs back.

Update!

I know the orks aren't very exciting, but I picked out a couple of things to attempt *after* the orks are done.

First, a cool Bushido model. One of my Tengu.

Next, a really cool model that whalemusic printed out for me (actually 2 of them). It's a proxy for a Soul Grinder in my Halloween/Chaos Demons list from years back... if you remember that. He scaled it so it should be the right size. Blackreach ork is for scale. That is... assuming the airbrush still works.

So there you go... next 3 projects!

Thank you guys!

OK, taking a break from things 30k to finish up some Bushido things for Adepticon. I'm not playing in the big tournament (helping to run it), but I'd like to get a few pick-up games in while I'm there.

So first, I needed a gorinto that doesn't look like all my other gorintos, which are objectives. This one will be a piece of placable terrain that does things for me. Dug out an old miscast that was missing some of the bottom (making it a different height) and added crystals! I have a whole bag of them that someone gave me years ago. this is the first time I've used them. This didn't turn out exactly as I'd hoped, but it will do for the con.

I also need to get Harvey Birdman here done for my Bushido warband. To save time, I decided to make his plumage white, so he's farther along than he looks!

Thanks graven. It'll look much better when I turn that green into proper marble.

Ojobe finished... well, finished enough for Adepticon anyway. I'll revisit him later as well.

Thanks graven. I was trying to keep the pigments muted to go along with the albino theme... but I'm just a cartoon painting kinda guy.

Up to my neck in getting ready for Adepticon. All the gaming stuff is packed and staged. I'll load it into the car tomorrow before I head out. This is about as organized as I've ever been.

Freshly back from Adepticon (I'll post a few pics later). Did some building today, 30k (Horus Heresy) stuff.

First, a couple of characters for my Mechanicum/Dark Mechanicum forces. A cool little dude that apparently once was a special Adepticon mini, now available at registration for a very reasonable price... and an Arch Magus.

Next, a group of missile pods for my Heresy marine armies:

All primed and ready to go!

Been pretty busy here since I got home from Adepticon. Not so much modelling-wise other than building the few above... but just mundane stuff. However, I did upload some of my Adepticon pics... so here goes.

Spent most of the first couple of days in the Bushido room helping with the Grand Master's Tournament and doing demos. Our numbers were down considerably from the last couple of years, but given what's going on in the world and the re-launch of War Machine, it's not surprising.

A good friend of mine won best painted for the second year in a row, this year including a beautiful display! I had absolutely nothing to do with the judging.

I did get some fun gaming in with my friends on Saturday. Played a 1000 pt 4-way free-for-all of 40k with my eldest and a couple of buddies. That's my boy on the other side of the table. I pulled out my old Halloween / Chaos Demon army for fun and relative ease of play.

I then wandered over to the vendor hall (finally... on day three) where I proceeded to spend a lot of money on very cool, new Bushido stuff. Mostly really large figures (oni and giant spiders), so those will be fun to paint.

A mob of us sat around Saturday night in a big room the hotel opens up for it's gaming guests, drinking beer and playing Wings of War. I ran my lovely purple Gotha bomber while the fighters swarmed around me like angry hornets.

It was anoter fun year. I love hanging out with my friends, and as much as I complained about having to spend so much time helping to run things in the Bushido room... that's where I went to hang out whenever I had spare time. Go figure.

Quick weekend project. Trying to get ready for a 30k game next week. Last unpainted models for my little 1500 point EC army were a pair of Tarantulas. I had 3 for some reason... so I painted them. They still need some work on the purple, but I'll do that when I get my airbrush up and running (and some new paints to go with it).

Thanks graven. I like my EC very prim and proper. I figure looks matter to them, so damage or dirt would be addressed as soon as possible in order to keep things looking sharp.

Lastly: The next project... 20 tac marines and some meltas (to complete a squad with my other 5 already painted guys). Guess it's time to fire up the old airbrush and see if it still works!
