Thank the 4 chaos gods there is someone else who plays Blazblue here ._. Anyways, about Blazblue, It's sorta......confusing, or at least that's my fault for playing contimuum shift first....but i do oh so love the smoothness of the battle with decent players~

Yeah, I tried it , but it went too weird anime for me. I loved GG's cast too much to switch. My fighting game heart belongs to the Jellyfish Pirates.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
Rachel main here. That doesn't mean I'm good by any stretch of imagination with her though. Her play style is just so unique I love trying to play her.
The game is beautiful and the story is typical Japanese wtf.
Also, Bangs Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan. It's a requirement I use that on my friends when I introduce them to the game. They never see it coming.

Mains are Iron Tager and Litchi. Litchi is damn fun for zoning and Tager just deals out the pain! I wanted to learn Arakune, but my brain doesn't have the room for such an odd character O_o
Thinking back, I remember playing the game and having fun, then I watched some of the more top tier players go at it via youtube, and I must say I was extremely disappointed.
Cornering. Cornering everywhere.
They need to make levels go on forever to the left and right. Just have the level loop or something. Getting stuck against a wall of nothing and someone spamming the same combo you can't break out of is lame.

But the corner game in any fighter is very important. If you get stuck in a corner, that generally means your opponent had to work to put you there, or you made a really bad mistake that got you stuck there. If they got rid of the corners, a lot of characters would have to be redesigned, since some, like Litchi or Rachel, are built heavily upon corner punishment.
It also makes it so that you can't zone indefinitely, it's required to punish turtlers. And if you keep falling for the same thing, figure out why you're falling for it.
When I play a dial-a-combo fighter like Blazeblue, Guilty Gear, or Persona 4 Arena, I memorize a set of combo routes for different situations (so random hit mid->route A, or random hit low->route A, corner hit mid->corner route B, etc.). If the combos always look the same, it's because they're the most efficient for the situation (that I am capable of reliably executing). If I get you where I want you, you bet your ass I'll use the most efficient combo I know to capitalize off the situation.

Dunno. Spamming moves at someone in a corner isn't fun. Neither is getting caught in them. People say don't be a noob, but you see it happening at tournies.
Kind why I'd rather play soul calibur over blazblue, even if I think blazblue is better in a couple ways soul calibur still has a combat system that's much more enjoyable.
“Sometimes I can hear my bones straining under the weight of all the lives I'm not living.”
If it's two good players (or even just one), if the guy is in the corner, the aggressor isn't just spamming moves. You're throwing out blockstrings and mixups in the attempt to get a random hit and combo off of it.
Fafnir wrote: Soul Calibur has corner combos too. And ringouts.
Very much so, but they aren't abused like they are in BB. Also ring outs are fine. Always love how things get super tense for both players when you're right next to the ledge.

I've heard blazblue is fantastic, although I don't have a PS3. It's very tempting to buy one, what with the slim version on the horizon, and all the good weeb games at my fingertips...
I love Tager, Hakumen, Bang (if the opponent goes easy cause Im awful with him ), and Im decent with most other characters except Carl. I know a good gimmick with Carl but if it fails I lose.
And to make things even better, Guilty Gear XX^C+R is coming out on PSN/XBA soon. It's essentially the progenitor to Blazblue and P4A. In my opinion, the greatest fighting game ever made. Its technical depth is unmatched.
...Oh, and a new version of Blazblue is coming out soon...

I love the idea of another GG revision - buuuut, I hope movelists don't get drastically changed again. May has never weathered the revisions well, her best incarnation is still the first from GG1 on the PSX (although it was pretty close to broken). Hopefully ABBA will be useful this time around though
Oh, about the new Blazblue game, I fething hope they HAVEN'T completely removed the Nu moveset, I will be exquisetly pissed if they do, 'cause remember at the end of CS *SPOILERS, SPOILERS SPOILERS CEASE READING IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BBCS ENDING************ They was over the cauldron (Hazama, Relius) peaking about the 13th sample 'n gak, so i expect her as the unlockable boss char

I hope they have she literally ruins multiplayer for some characters

Meh. I don't like BlazBlue/Soul Calibur type games. I did play Soul Calibur IV, it makes a good game for playing with some mates, and the character creation is tons of fun, but the gameplay was confusing, the music and voices were cheesier than a Swiss dairy convention, and it relied mostly on fanservice.
I do wish that Capcom would make another Megaman game. I still haven't played on yet. I feel a bit ashamed about it.

Wait, A fighting game that relies on fan service? Clearly, Tekken, King of Fighters, or Dead or Alive: Bouncier Special Edition, would never do such a thing!
For shame on those who would soil the good wholesome name of the fighting genre. For shame.

Oh, Dead or Alive. What a stupid game series.

I do find it amusing that they spent a million dollars just on the development of a breast-physics engine. Just in case you ever actually thought deep, engaging gameplay was actually their focus.

When is that ever the focus?

In spite of its almost self-satirical fan service, Dead or Alive is praised as the most competitive of the 3D fighters, and has been for some time.
My point is that anyone pretending fan service isn't a major part of almost EVERY fighting game of the last two decades is being a little delusional. Mortal Combat's Jade, Chun Li, Morrigan, every Dead or Alive girl, Christie, etc etc. You'd be hard pressed to find a fighting game without a least 1 skimpy dressed girl.

Yes, because DoA is way more unbalanced than Tekken or Soul Calibur- Oh wait...
It's not like the world is crawling in 3D fighters. Its pretty easy not to be dead last when the competition can be counted on 1 hand and one gets knocked out because its own fans are being pissy
