Oh, and happy new page.

Well now, if you insist ... Hello again, my fair dakklings. What's going on in Graven's Garage? Well not as much as I'd like, tbh. Still, I think that, finally, I'm ready to call the Wild Rover done: Yes, I've modified the sails. They're no longer swappable (for "raised sails"), and I decided I wanted a more substantial mainsail. I've also added skaven shields as armoured hubcaps, which I'm rather pleased with. The spiky triskelion style will also make an appearance at some point, I'll wager. The big rig, meanwhile, still needs to get some upgrades: There's quite a lot of a battlewagon in there... well, a few armoured plates, and a lot of spiky bitz. It's still going quite slowly though, so the odds of me finishing in time for the contest are pretty slim. Still. Getting there. Nevertheless, the grand tidy has been very successful! Also found a half-finished nurgle dreadnought, or whatever they're calling it this week: So that's nice. Found a bunch of Mantic stuff, old 1st ed Warpath, might try to offload it for more Dreadball. Though, I've not even touched the Dreadball contest this month. I have an idea for it - body parts all over the ground - but just neither time nor, really, inclination. Continuing with, however, the sense of "painting what I feel like", I've made a bit of progress with the Bane starter and Legion of doom: I think just painting on a whim is rather nice. I feel less pressured by the weight (literal, in many cases) of half-finished or barely started models. Given how little I get to actually game atm, or for the foreseeable, I have reached a (fairly) happy point in my head with this. Ook So, on we go... Graven

It's just a random discworld model of The Librarian. It was lying in a box of random chaos knight crap.
Meanwhile...
Sharknado rising!
Needs some gap filling, and hinging on the upper "jaw".
Maybe some crew, or at least a gunner. Pretty happy though generally.
Managed to score Zombies!!! for a fiver off a pal, so that'll give me 20mm zombies for the zombie bash scenario too.
Still feeling a bit frustrated, as I don't really have any time to indulge my whims, but next Friday I'm off and have no kids, so will try to do some bits and bobs, as well as make a suit of roman armour for #2, because clearly his teacher hates me. We've got a decent Pilum (made for an Ewok outfit) and a Xiphos (random) kicking about, so that's a start.
Trying to stay positive. #1 built his first Transformers deck unassisted (Autobot Seekers - Jetfire, Fireflight, Windblade and Arcee, if you care about such things), and managed to quite reasonably take down my (fairly tuned) Decepticon Tank deck. I'm that proud
We've also got a proper boys' game day coming up, going to the Mantic Scotland weekender on 8th June in Stirling to play Dreadball Ultimate and generally geek out. Going to make a 3-D Launcher for the current LoeR contest, so might do a test run for then, and try to get a bit of practice on the Neodurium with my boys on Bank Holiday Monday. We'll see.
One last thing - if you're interested at all in the Gaslands stuff, I managed to blag an interview with the designer, Mike Hutchinson - great guy, interesting to chat to, and also has info on joining the playtest of his new sci-fi game

Which one?! A busy weekend of Pokemon cake (2, a pokeball and a switch, plus 2 dozen cupcakes), the start of birthday shenanigans (Detective Pikachu - remarkably good) and making a Roman legionary costume out of cardboard (um, woo) but some things at least moved along. Optimus Slime (yes he's been rebranded)... is primed! As is the wild rover. And Barricade, who's going to be my entry for the Dreadball most brutal contest. Here's the bits, a reposed winged striker who's going to be getting smacked by a shield, and a squashed marauder (made from whfb ogre plus gs). And posed: Awful pic, sorry, but it was just a case of balancing everything and taking a pic before it fell apart. However, new big blank light space is pretty good so once I get new camera sorted, proper pics generally should happen. Started, properly, on the DBU launcher: MVP for scale. I'm using a smartie tube - although I'll need another one, for its lid, to get the \_/ detail symmetrical - and the footprint cannot be bigger than a gameboard hex. And, obviously, chaos bits, repurposed into a multi-ball launcher and cameras, as it also acts as the ref in Ultimate. Yes, that means I'm using kit bits for a LoeR contest, but I'm repurposing them, and in the end, I just like the idea. My main concern is stability and weight. In retrospect, I should maybe have put a couple of coins or washers inside the tube to keep it steady. I may still attach it to a Dreadball base to give it a bit more heft, we'll see how steady it is once built. Paintwise, truck HAS to get done this week for the May contest. Bring on the rust! Onwards graven

Mix of that and blood God
So despite the fact that I have to get the rig finished, Barricade has been my focus. Because, well, I love the model, and the idea is lodged in my head aching to get out and finished.
Anyway. Barricade.
I'm really happy with him, but you can't show everything in one shot.
All very sticky
Crunchy
Like I say. Fun to do.
Unfortunately, the 3 year old distracted me...
Bugger.
But tomorrow, no more procrastination - the rig is on!

Thanks, a ton of fun!
Boys away meant got some exam board stuff done, MOT, cinema with little one and a nice trip to the pub with my girls.
But, for a day off, there's been quite a lot of REAL work today too
Bit more work on the Legion
Genuinely good to be back on the Bat.
Lots of tidying to be done.
More on the Bane crew
Need to fix that gnarly mould line
Dreadnought Op
The guy was missing his second tomahawk when I picked him up, but he only has one in game (weird KM... weird).
Elite Op
Stealth Op
Plus a bit of work on the Dreadball launcher
Bit more work on the bus
Oh and...Optimus Slime complete!
So there we are!

Theophony wrote: Brian ,

 Many thanks indeed.
It's always a gamble with that rust method as it only comes together at the very end.
But, improbably, I painted some more!
Of course I need a new BMG faction. Of course I do
Whilst Abaddon Black may be pretty heinous to use as... well, black, it blends ok with various greys, it turns out.
I'm not willing to spring for the Bat-Box - I'm not overly sold on the two exclusive guys in it in game, and they'll come round in blister form eventually but I do want Bane's teddy bear objective, Osito, so...
Poor Osito! Tossed out with the trash...
And tidied up the Legion of Doom, too:
So, 6 more. Not bad. Got a fair few more to do for Bane but we'll see if that's next or not. Staying fresh, not forcing it.
