*Bows in nerd* ta!

As well as getting stuff primed, started to batter into next batch:

Against probability, I am making a fair bit of progress Things that are stressing me out: Chewie's fur has a surprising amount of variation in it (especialy at the shoulders and thighs), Leia's off-white outfit, Boba's iconic turquoise, alllllllllll the faces... *sigh* THIS is why I don't do Star Wars. Even with comics, there's variation in colour schemes and some wiggle room in masks. SW stuff is so iconic that there's no margin of error.

I have also been plodding away at the bikers

Despite appearances, they're very close to being finished, as it's mostly the black of the leathers that's left to do (which will be VJ Model Air + deck tan blended highlights). I'm sort of batch painting these along with the SW stuff, lots of pallet similarities - same turquoise as for Boba, etc. I'm very bad for not using my wet palette so colours get done together. A lot of Deck tan is going to get used shortly - Leia's outfit, Han's shirt, Dengar's cloth, Bossk's tabard - and likewise the black will also be used for weapons (and this is Episode 4 Han, too, so boots and vest). Before that I need to get Bossk's yellow flight suit done - I could just do him all tan though, and yellow glaze the flight suit. Decisions, decisions...

A lovely weekend for the boy's birthday was had, including a fair bit of geek time:

First game of our Imperial Assault campaign, Aftermath. The boys did convincingly well although a bit if bickering did see them nearly locked in an Imperial bunker next up is a side mission, a Jedi temple quest.
So, with that in mind... They are going to be looking for allies...

Especially with this lot after them...

Lots more individual pics in the gallery, if you're so minded. Tbh they all turned out rather better than expected.
I also gap filled the rancor

Tedious but necessary.
And I got the bikers done, at last

Deliver-boo, JustBeat and ÜberBeats.

Good to have a few more bits done and dusted.
On we plod

Much appreciated. In the end, though challenging, she was a joy to do.

I know, it reminds me of the legendary Khador Gap in classic metal warmachine figs. I hate milliput, as a rule, but this turned out to be the ideal solution. Imperial assault is indeed jolly, having the narrative element is always a winner.
Theophony wrote:Great job with jokers face on the wind screen on the bike . Love the fact that the guy is using a hockey stick from a motorcycle, definitely a game misconduct in the works there .

Cheers old son! Yup, very poor form In retrospect, I wish I'd swapped the sword in Harley's hand for a bat or mallet, much more her.
Next up, monstrous encounters in the frozen wastes of Hoth!

Not going to lie, I did think about chopping one up to make Old One-arm just went with the bloody carnage instead. I remember being really scared of the Wampa when I was little - but then at least it wasn't a giant ice-spider! Technically, I've also broken a personal rule with these guys, in that their bases are painted... sort of: I don't paint "board game" bases, usually (vid Hellboy stuff).

And, from one 70s sci-fi classic to another, working on stuff for Dredd. Infernal Cabal, and The Dangerous Brothers.

Main colours all blocked in, just about.

I'm also working on the Galactic Gladiators, my final Dreadball team (well, for now, anyway - I have a second set of Koris and Rebs on the way), and gearing up for Xmas nonsense. I just need to be careful not to go all-out on Imperial Assault or I'll hit burnout.

Wampa looks considerably gored up! They were a source of fear for me as well, specifically due to their apparent immunity to blaster fire in Shadows of the Empire for the N64. A pretty effective movie monster, to have endured for so long in so many different contexts.

Thanks buddy! There is a sneaky extra there as well: Elite units in the game are on a red card border so it allows me to distinguish between the two versions of the critter discreetly

Yeah, retro/timeless, not especially "alien" which was somehow worse

you've lost me. But then I'm often confused these days, it's my age. Unless that's a S2 The Boys reference? Not watched it yet, alas.

Wife was doing an online craft course last line, so we cracked open a good bottle and set to doing stuff together.

The Galactic Gladiators, ready to bring the stink! Really happy with how these have turned out, inspired by Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok.

That's him on a Giant's base, he's really comparable in size to them, great model.

Got the 2000AD bits done also:

The Infernal Cabal are kitbashed from a WW2 German sprue from a magazine and the Frostgrave Cultists sprue I picked up to make to Desaad. Couldn't be happier with how they turned out. At some point, I'll make them a big fleshy possessed (basically a Chaos Spawn).

And, The Dangerous Brothers

Again, same bits, plus GW wings, old metal Gargoyle wings for one and Sanguinary guard for the other.

The mutant militia now have counts-as Batgliders! Should actually paint the Speeder bike and Jetpack guys and then they'll be complete. Mutant Cursed Earth Raider teams are really, really powerful in Dredd, a proper challenge for Judges (most perps just get chewed up), so I'm really looking forward to a bit of wasteland carnage with the boy.

Finally, my work are weirdos: as a department, we're having a literary potato contest.

One of the Rebel Imperial Assault miniatures is holding what probably looks to be a pair of magnoculars. But it really looked like he was holding a sandwich. So that's how we painted it, and he became Senior Sandwich.

He's a major force multiplier for the Rebel team, giving extra actions (if I recall correctly).

Ah! Gotcha! And know who you mean.
This weekend's campaign game was a force-quest side mission.

And what force-quest would be complete without confronting a vision of the Dark Side? It was great fun, and I totally hammed it up as DM when they chose to use the force to get a free attack on Vader with my best Yoda voice. Not in the scenario rules per se but hilarious nonetheless.

I've actually not completed much this weekend. I finished a prone teraton for Dreadball (think an upturned turtle shell) but everything else is in progress. Mostly, Nurgle:

That's the Gellerpox and remaining Blightkings. Going for very dark, muted colours for the Gellerpox and decaying turquoise on the Blightkings. Randomly found a nurgle blood bowl marker in my bits box so that's now an objective marker I've also got two remaining Dreadball players on the go, a goblin and a dwarf, so when they're done I'll get a shot with the turtle.

As well as IA, we playtested a bunch. I can't say much about the new Dreadball game but it's fab, VERY fast, lots of fun, essentially simpler in many ways yet, weirdly, more strategic. Eldest especially loves it, bit too brutal for the younger (it can be a bit unforgiving at times).
So that's me, not doing too badly, bit fed up, but muddling through,
Graven

Lol thanks.
Sadly no tauntaun. One of my running gripes is that assault is a slightly different scale to Legion (1/47 instead of 1/43) so it's not cross compatible, with all its lovely stuff. Primaris stormtroopers maybe?
So, Dreadball! Terrible photo inbound:

Yurik "The Painmaster", MVP Guard; a prone Teraton; and Slippery Joe, Marauder captain.
These are momentous figures, as this means that - for now - I have all my dreadball painted. I'm missing a captain and an MVP, till we get the new expansion in March (two monkeys in a trenchcoat!), and I'm still on a quest to find the elusive xtreme promo and mayyybeeee 5 more 1st ed refbots to make a custom psycho robot team. I'm just pretending to ignore the fantasy team rules that have been released to enable conversion from a certain other sports game
I also got an amazing supply drop from Hasbro

The plush interactive Child will go to my daughter for Xmas, a couple of minis to the boys, black series for me and the rest as giveaways on Big Comic Page. Cracking loot.
Armada's coming this week, and black Friday is around the corner. This year's DCU promo is Krypto, so that's a must, but that's all that's caught my eye... So far

The force is strong with that box .

You almost had me buying multiples of Miniaturemarket’s deal of the day today. Star Wars Legion clone wars starter set for $65 instead of $99.95.

The new dreadball models they have previewed this week look fun, and rumors of using them in a wrestling type game could make it a no brainer.

I can neither confirm nor deny such rumours. 8~)

Quiet week, busy with real life. Kids n that. Still, finished up some

Going for a very muted palette on these, just for variety. They'll end up in amongst my poxwalkers.

The Gellerpox will count as Blightkings for my AoS horde. I've added planks to bases so they're distinctive as my drowned unit.

Swarm. Buzz, buzz. Speaking of which, I still have all the tiny critters to do; they're getting added to my plaguebearer units for variety's sake. Also working on unit of pale, verdigris covered Blightkings, which will mean I'll hit around 2500 - much like the boy Prepping for a big game of AoS planned for Festivus.
Black Friday has invaded our shores (bloody colonials ) and I got a little backpay I was owed, so I have bitten the bullet and ordered a bunch of new km stuff via my buddy's store in Ayr (that's local by American standards, it's like half an hour down the motorway) - Sinestro Corps, Sinestro Lord of Fear, Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan Brightest Light, Krypto and, somewhat arbitrarily, Dark Knight Harvey Dent. KM have just fired their useless manager, so I am praying they start behaving competently. Also ordered Dreadball bits to finish the collection from Mantic (playtester discount! Woo!) and a squad of Avenger Strike Fighters for AI with Goblin Gaming store credit. So a bunch of stuff but for very little outlay.

Hoping for Armada today, fingers crossed firmly. Might change tack, do some batman, or back to star wars. Sky's the limit

We dumped Imperial Assault. We were hoping for more options/crossover play possibilities with Legion, and we'd already played out IA. So, when Legion came out and was a different scale for the minis, we dropped it and moved on to other games.

That's fair enough, I can see that IA could get stale. Ideal for us just now though. But the scale thing is very poor indeed.

Thanks indeed, hopefully you like the final Blightkings, Lord and sorceress!

Kitbash blightlord, Lord and wurmspat sorceress.

I do like varying my colour schemes with nurgle.

And the other 2 wurmspat Blightkings. Excellent fellows.

I also finished off my Dredd figs, with the Cursed Earth Raiders:

These are the last of my Mutant Militia
Unless, of course, I decide to kitbash some footsloggers I fear the boy's judges are in for a nasty shock, Mutants are fast and deadly, much more so than your average juve or even hardened perp.

Productive day, all told. Clearing out little one's toys and making space for festive tat. Oh, Avenger Strike Fighters came from goblin gaming, and some Void 1.1 from the new license holder as a wee treat. I have a lot of affection for Void, having been UK champion back in the day, but that's long in the past now. Be interesting to see how things shape up in the new iteration.

Tomorrow, perhaps some playtesting with the kids, perhaps IA.bhot Moonstone stuff cleaned up today, a game I know nothing about, but the figs are lovely and very Henson style so looking forward to painting at least.
154 this month, 856 this year. Doubt I'll ever best that monthly total though, so don't think 1000 is a realistic end goal for 2020. Aiming for 900.
