Believe me, the wife and I have talked about it on more than one occasion. If we were to emigrate anywhere, tbh, NZ would be most likely as it's relatively easy to switch into their school system for both the kids and me, and as a medical professional her likewise.

But not going to happen any time soon, alas.

Anyhoo, had a great night with my buddies, getting some extra odds and sods for my Dominion fleet (and the Lego Ecto-1, whee!).

I took a couple of pics of our game:

So me in the corner with a Jem'hadar battleship under Dukat and Gor Portas (Breen Warship) uprated to Flagship status and full of Breen. Up against a tricked out Voyager and Equinox, 2 lots of Klingons, and a Romulan stealth swarm.

Mostly, the Klingons went after the Feds and I tried not to get outmaneuvered by Roms (one of our local TOs, metropolis).

Learned a lot, really enjoyed it, as did the other newb purple_snap (wearing the reverse flash T) playing Klingons.

We ended up piling into the Romulans, and a good time was had by all. The fact that in casual play locally folk stick to single faction adds to the enjoyment: it's clear there are some preposterous combos. Funnily, it reminds me of Warmahordes in some ways - it's almost a card game with models. However, the maneuver side of the game is really interesting, highly tactical, and very very entertaining. More will follow, I suspect.

personally me and my family have talked about getting away from Germany , but each discussion always makes us shy away from a final decision...it´s dull here but mostly secure...and that counts for a lot on most days to be honest...

cool...the game looks fun and I bet there is lots of cinematic brain theatre (kopf kino...in german)... going on ...

yesterday my son felix and I had a game of felix/ lego hammer... we took some handfuls of lego star wars minis and played a game after rules of our own design... lots of fun for the both of us...and I am rather proud of my son for coming up with that idea on his own...

Noooo... don't emigrate!!

The Star Trek game looks ace and reminds me a wee bit of X-Wing. It would be nice to see how the 2 game mechanics match up against each other. And the mat you used for the game looks really cool, where did you get it from??

I take ti you are the one behind the camera and not the guy on the phone beside reverse flash??

I need a gaming group near me

Yellowbeard has the Star wars game..He keeps prompting to get in a game. Lots of folks have switched from playing 40k to these games. I'm guessing due to cost.

Ok.. the offer is always open. Wisconson ( it only snows half of the year)!! Did I mention we both like cake?

Hey Solar, you and Gits could always emigrate here where it only rains 2/3rd of the year & snows the other 1/3rd... and no tornadoes, plus you could always visit for cake!!

Intresting, but too small of a land mass. Hope to be visiting the big Island in a few years at least. It's been 4 years since I got back there. I hope to hit the nothern part next trip. I'll consider luring Graven on the plane with sweets and beer! The rest of his family with money!

Too small a land mass? How much stuff would you be bringing over with you SL?

X-wing and Star Fleet both look a lot of fun - just like flying spaceships around the bedroom shouting pew-pew at your mates (Which, yes, I know is basically the premise behind all our wargaming shenanigans )

Are there rules for things such as asteroids, the mutara nebula and tholian webs?

Don't know about the Star Trek rules, but here's rules or asteroids in x-wing. I think there's planets in Star Trek, since the ships are a larger scale.

^ I heard somewhere that we have the most tornadoes in the world actually - but they are small so no one cares.

That star trek game is giving me a nerd-attack just looking at it.
