I thought the hatches were there to insert/ replace.
Only thought.. doing a bit of OSL glow coming from the vents? Just a touch of your blue maybe?
Thanks SL! Not too sure about the hatches but I've glued them in since they didn't fit that well even after a lot of sanding. I've been trying to limit my OSL to just instrumentation and weapon glows for now. I think it's really hard to get a good, realistic looking glow for such a big area such as the back vents.

Thanks!
LutherMax wrote:Love the cockpit detailing and crew in particular - how long did the interior take out of interest?
Thanks Luther. I actually did it in two evenings - mostly based with a drybrush then picked out the small details. Painting up this model is such a nice change of pace from the standard models that I barely realized the time spent on painting for this.

Major kudos for completing this project not only so quickly it makes me cry, but to the same awesome standard we know and love - plus some new weathering techniques thrown in!
My personal favourite feature is the yellow head, in homage to BA heraldry.

Thanks Luther! I'm actually planning on learning to play the game now. Got a 1100 pt list I'm building up and painting soon for an intro game. Should be good times

Thanks SL and SW. I plan on leaving it unbased for now as I doubt I'll ever field him in a game of battle. Also I can't seem to find a suitable base for him that's oval and not made out of a thick piece of wood.

Nice. Bikes are excellent in game, that T5 and jink is very useful. For BA I love running MM attack bikes.
What are you arming the devs with?

2 Grav Cannons and 1 Missile Launcher. Not sure if it's legal or not but with the intro game, I think I'll be running them as just a generic SM list. I've been told BA's aren't that good these days.

Overall the BA suffer from not being able to get into CC where the army is truly based. Dev are always good and your options to more useful formations and units lie within the SM codex.
However.. a lot depends on your opponent/ Group. I still like the challenge of making my Lamenters ( BA) work. There is enough threads on Dakka that go in to codex power levels and competitiveness. Your mileage may vary.
Come to Adepticon and I'm sure us Wardens will be happy to play some friendly games.

Yeah, that's what my friend who will be teaching me the game said as well. He built the "starter" list for me based on the SM codex. Uses 3 libbies on bikes, a 3 bike squad, dev squad and some other tac squads. I'll probably spend the next year or so playing and learning the game but I'd definitely like to make it out to Adepticon eventually. Will be posting progress here and I do plan on starting a personal blog as well centered around all things miniature hobby related. Will post that up soon.

Thanks! Been awhile for awhile as well but it's always nice to get back into the hobby and I think I always will be painting Angels of Baal even till an old age.
Another model update...started working on my starter list a friend created for me to game with using SM codex. First one is the HQ Khan for a bike squad. For this model I used the DA Sammael model, bits from the BA upgrade sprue for the torso and head and a GK polearm arm. Torso and arm are both magnetized and I might change it up at a later time for a DA robed torso and a power sword arm.
Model was also in finecast which wasn't that well done, has some rough edges around the bottom and around the rear exhausts which I should have spent more time smoothing down but oh well...

Beautiful beautiful reds. Agreeing with SL on the spot colors. Perfect choice of using blue and white. Those tiny splashes of color work wonders!
Also, Im shocked I never got back to this thread after the Warhound!! Incredible work on that... Weathered perfectly and the colors are just right. You knocked that out in pretty good time, too, unless im missing something! AND you magnetized it!? Brilliant... Insane, but brilliant!
Very much appreciate the back shots of the metal work too! Will be SUPER helpful in the future. Might have to look into grabbing some of those inks myself

Knightley wrote:Hmm, did you shade the metals with a blue wash? if so I might have to give that a try, it looks amazing
Thanks Knightley - yes I used blue ink through the airbrush to shade almost all my metallics followed by a final shot of black ink in the airbrush. Gives it more depth and color nuance for the metallics.

Thanks Ramos and no worries, let me know if you wanted to see any other details. The model was a blast to paint. I had it assembled/magnetized on my desk for at least 8 months before deciding to paint it up back in December. After I got started everything went very quickly.

Just in case anyone noticed, I've updated my sig with a Blood Angels banner which is linked to my new blog: http://www.ba40k.com. Figured I wanted a dedicated site for keeping track of my collection and progress. I'll be posting stuff to it along side to the posts in this thread and I might even do some more additional stuff on the site such as hobby specific stuff like airbrushes and techniques. For the time being, I'll be just populating posts on the site with the stuff I've already done and documented on dakka but keep an eye out!
