Very nice.. now lighten the edges of the headdress.. ie gradient to the tips. The drift wood white is awesome.

The green inner energy was the way to go!

I'd say either keep em green, if the power itself is green and flowing through them. Or if you want a stark contrast, red eyes and mouths. But then they may be called the Christmas Tree Army, so there is that.

I have a question for you fine gents. My sylvaneth all have green swirls of power. Durthu will too. His leaves will be either be green or purple. What color should i make his glowing eyes and mouth? The same? A contrasting color? What are your thoughts?

Im not sure how it is in the fluff, but he has such a striking scheme compared to the others I would almost go with a contrasting color to the others. Like maybe even so far as a red or an orange. Make him stand out as his presence looks so unnatural on the field next to the more "living" trees.

Thanks Solar. I need to get a better picture. The headdress is highlighted, just a bit difficult with the paint pot background.

Thanks Guys. I agree Whale, no christmas army. Thank you very much.

I will have some other white dryads, enough to have a unit. Let me take another picture for you and I'll show you his friends.

In other random news, here is my 1500 point sylvaneth army.

400 - Spirit of Durthu w/Oaken Armor
260 - Treelord
100 - Branchwych w/ Verdant Blessing
120 - Dryads x10
240 - Dryads x20
200 - Free People Crossbowmen x20
180 - Cannon

When we get to the 2000 point range, as of right now I will be adding two more cannons for 360, a cogsmith for 100, and a fleetmaster for 40. Mainly because I don't have anything else that costs 40. That will give me a nice three cannon firing base that can reroll misses if they all stay within an inch from the cogsmith. I'll have the sylvaneth to be my advancing force and the crossbowmen to be a blob in front of the cannons. The Fleetmaster will be there, doing something. At the time I get my hands on some Kurnoth Hunters, they will replace a cannon.

That is a truly stunning piece sir.

Just to be silly, what about making the glow a gold or copper. I think you go with the green myself, trust me he stands out well enough.

I may test that on a dryad first, interesting thought though. A metallic on an organic.

I hope I have said this already, but that is a stunning army, truly wonderful and so interesting, spent ages pouring over the pic.

No idea how they stack up in play, but they will dazzle your opponents.

Thanks Camkierhi, I am glad you like them. I have no idea how they will stack up either but from what I've seen I may have a chance at best painted, lol. I may try to get some in action shots and zoomed in a little more so you can see them even better.

Thanks Solar and GIts! I do need more cannons and I can always borrow more from Moonpie if he finds them all. Second weekend in July is our next game. I'll try to get on the table that streams it live if you want to see them in action!

Thanks Solar. I would have to agree with you. I am painting the last 6 dryads right now. They are drying from their first wash. After that the only Sylvaneth model left is a wych. Then they are done!

Tomorrow will be my first 8th edition game. I am very excited about it. We will probably play a good small point game. What do you think a good point value would be for a first game of 8th?

Well how did it go?

I would have suggested 10k points just for laughs.

They are looking amazing bud, live the different colours.

I'm glad you asked Cam. It was awesome. We had a blast and for once, in a very long time, it made me want to play more. Outside of special occasions such as Adepticon we just dont play. 7th was too tedious and i was very pleased with how quickly we stopped referencing the rulebook. We had to look up the nee stats but otherwise game play was quick and dirty.

Here are some pics as proof.

50 power points. Orks vs Nids
Set up
Biovore overlooking the stormboyz.

Spore mine and trygon about to feast on my battlewagon

Warriors overseeing their minions.

I greatly under estimated the trygon. That thing is awesome. He underestimated the burnas, which killed his broodlord in closecombat. We got through 3 full turns before we ran out of time. I was dominating in points but one more turn would have destroyed two of my remaining 3 units.

I cant wait for our next game.

Glad your back playing.. 1000 pts is usually a good starting game but most players are doing 2000 pts in order to counter the wide variety of builds. Still even at 1000 pts you can put together a cheesey list.

Liking the POV shots!

Agree with SL, I'm really liking 1000 pts now-a-days. Enough to make it interesting but not overwhelming... and the games get over fairly quickly too. Good to see you back at it Ice.

Moonpie and I just had another game of 8th. He tried out his Harlequins for the first time. It was a 65 power level game. I brought orks. Lots of boys and killa kans. I killed everything he had except two leaders by turn two. He charged right at me and my sheer weight of attacks and fire power killed him. A 20 man boy squad with shootas killed his solitaire in overwatch. My killa kans with Skorchas took out nearly an entire troop in one shooting phase. He was not to pleased with the results but he did not play to their strengths. A learning experience for both of us. Skorchas and mobs of boys for the win.

Its quicker to build an army using power levels and my orks arent really over equipped. I didnt bring any nobz or vehicles so i didnt have any ways to really abuse the system. Im not sure about his harlequins.

The harlequins definitely had some equipment. I am going to have to figure out how to use them. Ideally they would be charging from behind some cover blocking LoS. I don't know if you have to have LoS to charge. Or I need to lead with vehicles. Or just play Craftworld... interested or Ynarri...less interested.

If they come out with plastic Aspect Warriors I am sold.

The pink army always wins. You beat the pink army? Go ahead and brag about it. You lost to the pink army? Well, then....

I had a great game last Sunday. I didn't pull out the victory mainly because I didn't have enough units to hold four objectives. I also still need those trees. COME ON WHALE!

Here was the first turn after he had gone, he had a lucky charge over on in the right corner. Barkley never moved the entire game.

Barkley fighting with several units of Stormcast before being taken out. He held his own for several turns.

My crossbowmen and cannon put in some SERIOUS work. The cannon didn't hit often but when it did, things perished. The crossbowmen took out nearly 3 times their points cost and were one of the only units left in my army at game end.

The real MVP of the game was Oakley, my spirit of Durthu.

He was not as effective in close combat as he should have been but his ranged verdant blast was awesome. He took out two characters and a unit. He almost took out a third character before he was slain.
