A good and "easy" way for your army to get based quickly would be by making them all winter wonder land... Comrade panda gave me a wonderful recipe for snow... Pva, white cheap paint and baking powder...worked like a charm and is strong too...

So, the scenery like base work is to make you wonder what these two have been up into. the one with the energy claw found a step way amidst tubes and panels, the other found a more plated spot with a standing xeno device.

If those teeny-tiny fighters on the carrier are not removable, maybe you could add some smoke/flame (cotton wool) behind the launching ones to give them a sense of motion. That could be nice. Just a little bit, don't get carried away, think in scale.  Don't feel you have to though.
Also, some skid marks where they land too...

@ Dr.H; Thanx! as for skids, hmmm, hard to o as the "landing gear nubs are quite little to begin with. Based on the anime, I would have to do small puffs.
Bases, had to have that rubble feel as they are wasteland/ DC ruins dwellers .

@Dave; Thanks Dave, the redo of Starblazers aka Starblazers 2199 the ships got a major high tech mecha touch done and Bandai makes the models,,,,,Bandai, makers of Gundam!
@Vik; Oh I do have a concrete look scheme for the rubble around their feet.
I have one more carrier to collect, it holds the larger torpedo bombers and will be blue! Meanwhile, I am preparing to get the latest Battleship set.

I find that many of the Garmillas space cruisers and destroyers look like fish of some sort. One carrier resembles a 4 limbed star fish. I do enjoy m shark looking fleet

Have you ever tried dry-brushing to highlight the main edges? Some of the details are occasionally lost if the light doesn't happen to catch it in your photos.

Rivet zone is where I got the soda machines from, all resin kits, once I am done with these, I have 6 more to make and paint! Yeah, the ships are actually optimized for major weapons firing forwards, some broadsiding, and also aft weapon fire. The Garmillas like to git you coming in, passing, and as they pass you, drop more on you. Dr H wrote:Ah, fair enough then. Carry on.
